An alternate FTP client for those of you who may be getting disconnects... this may or may not help you:

    http://www.smartftp.com/

I am testing the FTP program myself in fact.... I'm getting connection resets every 30 minutes or so when connecting to someone else's FTP through WS-FTP... will see if this program works better.

I use Smart FTP and it works amazing for me, I click download the whole folder and it queues it up and downloads them all consecutively... ^^ good program i suggest it

That's what WS_FTP usually does for me, and I've never had any problems with WS_FTP. For some odd reason, on his host, it just disconnects after a certain period of time. I noticed that with some of the smaller files it will complete, say "transfer ok" and then I can download the next file.

does anyone else have more musical suggestions that would fit FFXI well? something funny or fitting? not to say that paiku's mix doesn't kick ass, but just comical suggestions.

i was thinking of "matrix reloaded - Burly Brawl" for battle music, LOL. that would be hilarious! great for monks!

or "killbill soundtrack - the 5,6,7,8's - whoo-hoo" for chocobo music!

as for my opinion on editing the music on FFXI:
it doesn't matter to me that the game isn't by defintion "pure" or not. adding you're own version of things into it, customizing it the way you see fit, makes the game a much more pleasurable AND involving experience. just in the same way you might put your face on the sims (i made milla jovovich ). or all the patches for FPS's. if it we'ren't for editing a game outside of what it originally was, we wouldn't have Counterstrike.

Paiku: Don't be such a jackass, my first thought was that you did replace tunes to another but I guess I was wrong at that point. I'm actually considering to add Quina's Theme from FFIX to the Ghelsba Outpost area. Would be cool. Didn't mean to be impolite at any rate.

Galeth: I don't know what happened, but my Dynamic DNS services were down. The server is back up and running again at full force.

Rallycar: Apparently you aren't paying attention because I /DID/ replace tunes to others. You cannot put music in places where there is not music in already, as I said in a previous post. That's the whole point of this thread... it's for those who are interested in getting REPLACEMENT MUSIC to REPLACE THE ORIGINAL FINAL FANTASY XI MUSIC. I'm sorry that such actions don't meet your freaking approval.

You have been nothing but detrimental to my thread, and I told you to get out of it, so make it happen.

Kurgan: The campy music helps ease the aggravation of dying. Heh.

Paiku: I'll stop post at this thread if you apologize. I don't like your attitude.

Hey rude, I'm not apologizing for anything. You came into my thread and thumbed your nose because you apparently think the game isn't "pure" if we replace the music with what we want.

The problem isn't my attitude, it's yours. You see, none of us here have to listen to Final Fantasy XI's default music if we don't want to. It's none of your freaking business what we listen to in our game. If I want to listen to the fucking Beetles when I'm running through San'dOria, it doesn't affect you in any way, shape, or form.

This is the last time I will tell you to stay out of my thread. Post something detrimental to my topic again, and I'll start getting nasty. I'll make sure you REALLY don't like me, I promise you.

Addendum: IP addresses 213.89.151.208 and 80.142.102.216, I don't know who you both are, but you're both hammering my server trying to get in when the server is full of users. Not only do you not have the music now, but now you will never get it because you both are banned. Congratulations!

What's the freaking detrimental about my first thread? I have my thoughts, and you got yours. You don't have to flame your own thread and start threaten people you don't even know. Well this conversation has gone too far so let's say we both stop and continue enjoy some FFXI? Aight?

                            Why isn't this a BitTorrent?

Because I'm hosting an FTP, not a BitTorrent.

Rallycar: You really just don't get it, do you? This stops when you stop posting in my freaking thread and not before. GET OUT OF MY THREAD. Reading comprehension goes a long way; you might want to pay attention to your grade-school English teacher instead of telling other students that they can't truly enjoy their lunch unless they eat it exactly how you want them to eat it.

Your initial comments were totally unnecessary, and that's why I'm getting on your ass about it. I don't care what your negative thoughts are. You remind me of the guy that ruins the party for everyone else because you don't like the music playing and so you have to make sure everyone else knows about your dissatisfaction. Fuck off. My FTP and this thread is for those that want the replacement music, actually have meaningful comments about the music itself, or are having technical issues downloading the music, not for tightasses to discuss the purity of a video game when you don't listen to the original musical score.

Paiku, this is not 1992, I'd like to welcome to the 21st century. An FTP server is a far-less-than-ideal way to distribute files like this. You could be saving yourself a lot of bandwidth and making downloads faster for everyone by using a torrent. Hell, I would create and seed the torrent for you, but I don't feel like dusting off an FTP client just to suck a 40mb file through a 5kbps straw.

We'll let whatever distribution method you choose be the barometer of your technical and intellectual prowess.
