Thanks for the compliments. And... if I had more bandwidth, I'd be happy to spare it. I unfortunately do not, though if anyone wants to help distribute the music, again by all means, go for it.

Haha... the death music is from a Sega Dreamcast game called Samba de Amigo. The song is named "Vamos A Carnival" which is Spanish for "Let's go to the carnival."
That's the only oddball song I threw in there... I figured I should put something for death music that'd at least somewhat cheer you up, since dying kind of sucks. The default music is depressing; as if dying wasn't bad enough.

i'd sure like to know how to convert my own songs. post a link if you can. i'm gonna search online right now.
also, just a general suggestion--- have you heard "bond"? they've got some good classical music with beats and bass in them. they're musical recipey is like- 1 part techno, 2 parts classical. its a nice sound, especially for FFXI. try thier song- "alexander the great" or thier "the 1812 overture". once again, just a suggestion. for you listening pleasure, or for FFXI soundtrack.

I can only seem to download one file at a time.
I get connected, start a batch download using WS_FTP, and it will complete the first file and then I get the following message:
Received 8048262 bytes in 1586.1 secs (4.96KBps), transfer succeeded
! Receive error: Blocking call cancelled
And then my connection gets reset, and I'm lucky if I can reconnect to continue downloading..
I am using passive transfers, as you requested.Kurgan @ Ramuh

I have a few that I made a while ago
- FF7: Gold Saucer
- FF7: Cid's Theme
- FF7: Main Theme
- FF7: Rufus' Welcome Ceramony
- FF9: Crossing the Knoll
I can throw them up on a server, but they range from about 8MB to 5MB in size
I've been switching out my FF11 music to older FF music. I haven't finished a whole lot of them yet. Getting them to sound right when looping is the hardest part of it.

You DO realize that almost half of Vana'diel (that I've explored thus far) has no music to it at all. Places like Konschtat Highlands, Valkurm Dunes, Jugner Forest, Ordelle's Caves, and I think Buburimu even. There are others, I'm sure. A lot of these places only have background sound effects like wind, thunder, rain, insect noise. I personally find that traveling through some areas of Vana'diel on foot or on chocobo are quite boring, and a big factor of that is the lack of music!Originally posted by Rallycar
Replacing tunes is like you spoiling the game in my opinion. Not the true game anymore
Oops sorry, /rant off.

Didn't realize that, well I guess it's ok to add some other Final Fantasy tunes at those places but replacing the Battle Theme to some Britney Spears hit is just crazyOriginally posted by Kurgan

hey! i'm interested in downloading some of these replacements, but i'm unsure about how to use the program. If anybody could give me a quick step-by-step on how to use it (maybe just relating specifially to this case, downloading the music) i would be most grateful.
Thanks

I didn't know Lagunas battle theme from FF8 is britney spears =pDidn't realize that, well I guess it's ok to add some other Final Fantasy tunes at those places but replacing the Battle Theme to some Britney Spears hit is just crazy
I downloaded all the music, and it works awsome.... it fits the game very well IMO... I did change the Party in Overworld to Lagunas battle theme, that just to me seems to kick major butt ^^.

Kurgan: PM me and I'll look into trying to make the situation better for you. I cannot stop the connection reset issue, but I can try to get the files to you a bit faster so you get more files per connection attempt.
Keep in mind folks, there is currently no way to put music in areas where there is not music there already. This is replacement music, not additional music.
Rallycar: Good for you that you think I'm not playing the true game anymore, and had to thumb your nose down at people like a jackass. You know what? How about you never do that again. Keep your game as "pure" as you want, just stay the hell out of my topic.
Hive_mind: After you download and install WS FTP LE 5.08, open the program. Window will open, and a smaller window on top of the bigger window will say "Session Properties" at the top. Click the "New" button and type in something like "Paiku's FTP". Anything works for the profile name, it's for your own reference. In Hostname, type parn.serveftp.org and Host Type should already be set to Automatic. Check the box that says "Anonymous" and then click the Advanced tab. Default for port is 21... change that to 500. Check the box that says "Passive Transfers". After all that is configured, click OK. You should see a bunch of crap happen, the left side showing folders and files on your computer, and on the right, there should be files and folders on my FTP. You navigate the FTP like you would your own computer... the <--- and ---> arrows are telling the program which way you want to transfer files. If you single-click on a file or folder on the right side which is my FTP, you would click the <--- arrow to transfer that to your computer in the folder you're looking at on the left.
That's all there is to WS-FTP... very handy, simple program.
I've heard of some people having connection reset problems.... others don't seem to have it. I'm not entirely sure why this is happening, but all I can say, is to keep trying. And if anyone else could help share these files, it'd be great.
