  • Hello again, everybody! Got some more pics for you. ^^ (OOC: for the first part of this entry, there are no pics because FRAPS hates me. : /) Let's see, where did I last leave off? Ah right, back in Bastok. Well, I left Bastok after I woke up the next morning, and on the way, I fought my first notorious monster! Its name was Leaping Lizzy, and it was apparently one of the most sought after notorious monsters in Vana'diel. Leaping Lizzies aren't very strong, but sometimes they yield Leaping Boots when defeated, which are extremely useful for Thieves like yours truly. (OOC: Leaping Boots' stats: DEF:3 DEX+3 AGI+3) Unfortunately, even though I had no trouble dispatching it, it didn't have any Leaping Boots. Disappointed, I headed back to Windurst, heading through the Konschtat Highlands and Valkurm Dunes, taking the boat from Selbina to Mhaura, then heading through the Buburimu Penninsula, Tahrongi Canyon, and East Sarutabaruta before finally reaching Windurst.

Once home, I rested up and did a bit of fishing before heading out to Jeuno. I travelled north through East Sarutabaruta, Tahrongi Canyon, the Meriphitaud Mountains, and Sauromugue Champaign to Jeuno. I made it the whole way on my own, too. ^^ There were a few close calls where strong Yagudos and Sauromugue Skinks almost spotted me, but my thief-y sneakiness prevailed. ^^ In Jeuno, I went to the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Lower Jeuno and bought a map of Qufim Island, since I planned to train there, and it wouldn't do for me to be lost while doing so. Wilber had said that he thought I was strong enough to train there, but when I went there, I found that he was wrong, and I decided to get a little stronger before coming again. Luckily, I didn't have to find this out the hard way, as I had Komeu with me as an escort. ^^

After leaving Qufim, I ran into Faluzure. We talked for awhile, and he was very nice. He even showed me who to talk to when I was strong enough to get my chocobo license. ^^ Thanks, Fal! *hug* Anyway, after that, I left Jeuno, deciding to train for awhile in Selbina. I made my way south through Sauromugue Champaign and the Meriphitaud Mountains again, then through Tahrongi Canyon and the Buburimu Penninsula to Mhaura, where I took the boat to Selbina. Here's a shot of me on the boat:

After the uneventful boat ride, I headed out to Valkurm, where I found a group of adventurers to train with. We decided to fight Beach Pugils at Siren Sands. While we were waiting for the whole party to come together, I looked out to the beach, and saw tons of fish!

I tried to get some, but the elusive little fishies were too fast even for me. *vows to one day catch them* Erm... anyway... Soon, everyone was together, and we started fighting Beach Pugils. The fights were long and difficult, but in the end, we always triumphed. Here's a few battle pics:

After awhile though, our tank, Chrissy, died. I decided it was about time for me to head back home, and bid everyone farewell, thanking them for their help and wishing them luck in finding a White Mage to revive Chrissy. I walked back to Selbina, and got on the boat back to Mhaura. I fought a few Sea Pugils that showed up on my own, since they were so weak, but then things took a turn for the worse. Another ship sailed up next to us, and a bunch of pirates jumped off of it, boarding our ship and attacking people! I hid in the decks below, since those pirates looked too strong for me, but then I decided to head back up to try and get a few pics for everyone. Watch as I bravely (or stupidly; you decide :p) risk my life to get you guys pics.

Uh oh! Looks like that last one saw me! Eeeek! *runs back down into the decks below*

.....Looks like I was too slow. :dead: (OOC: And I only had 7 exp left to level 19 >_<) Apparently we reached Mhaura while I was out, and the ship's crew picked up my body and hurled it out onto the dock, along with a Galka adventurer who also got killed by the pirates. Damn callous bastards. Luckily though, a friendly White Mage came by and revived us. ^^

After recovering from my Raise sickness, I headed out through the Buburimu Penninsula to Tahrongi Canyon, fighting weak monsters on the way. I hung around in Tahrongi Canyon for awhile, fighting things that I could take on my own for a bit of last minute training before I got home and went to bed for the night. Here's a couple shots of me taking on a Wild Dhalmel:

After a bit more fighting, I decided I was strong enough for the moment...

...and headed back home to Windurst, where I headed straight for my Mog House and collapsed on my bed, dead tired. And that's all for this entry. 'Til next time, enjoy! ^^

      • Wow another really great journal. So far you are one of my very favorites.
        My Journal: http://ffxijournal.tripod.com/
Alone for a while I've been searching through the dark
For traces of the love you left inside my lonely heart
Our paths they did cross, though I cannot say just why
We met, we laughed, we held on fast, and then we said goodbye
In your dearest memories, do you remember loving me?
Was it fate that brought us close and now leaves me behind?

OOC: Yes, in fact, I'm working on one right now, and it should be up in a matter of minutes (it's kinda a short one :p). And I'm glad you enjoy the journal. ^^ THF/MNK can be fun, but lemme tell you something (I'm just guessing on this, so if any White Mages wanna prove me wrong, go ahead ): as a White Mage, you probably won't have ANY problem finding a party. Every party needs a White Mage; most parties only take a Thief either for their treasure hunter passive ability or to fill a spot so they can take on slightly tougher enemies (that is, until the THF gets to around lvl 33 or so, at which point we have Sneak Attack, Trick Attack, and Viper Bite, and combining them does über-damage for our lvl, but I digress  ). Summoner, though, from what I've heard, sucks as a subjob. If you go with it, you might wanna make SMN your main and WHM your sub. You'd have to lvl WHM (or another job) to a really high lvl to get all the summons besides Carbuncle, anyway. But once you've gotten them all, SMN is a very cool class indeed.

                  • (OOC: I've just now realized that I forgot to mention in a previous entry that when I was coming back from Bastok, I had my first encounter with the Sea Horror on the boat to Mhaura. I didn't get any pics, which is probably why I forgot. As soon as I saw it spawn, I ran to the captain's cabin, figuring it would be safe there. Ha ha. The damn octopus came right for me first, killing me with one swipe of its slimy tentacles. :dead: A White Mage came to revive me, thinking it was safe, but the Sea Horror was still there, and it took the poor White Mage out, too. But then a really high-level Monk took it on, and after what seemed like forever, he finally took it down, with a bit of support from a high-level White Mage. I swear, the Monk had to do about 7000 HP of damage to it before it went down. He used Asuran Fists like 6 or 7 times throughout the battle. The Sea Horror even used Hundred Fists at one point, though it didn't seem to make him hit any faster. Anyway, the White Mage that helped the Monk defeat the Sea Horror then revived those of us that died. ^^ But I'm afraid I've developed a fear of octopi from that little disaster. *shudders at the thought of octopi* >_<;; )

Hi again, all. As you can see, I got another journal entry ready for you all! ^^ Mainly just training this time, though. :p

Let's see... picking up from the last entry... I trained with my Monk for awile after waking up...

...then had some fun with my linkshell for the rest of the day. The next day, I decided to head to the Valkurm Dunes for some Thief training. Here's a shot of the boat I took to Selbina sailing into the harbor at Mhaura...

...and a pic of me and a few of the other passengers waiting for the boat to leave.

The ride was uneventful (I took out a few weak Sea Pugils on my own), and after we landed, I took off for the city limits, walking out to the Dunes. Just before I got there, though, Frostmourne contacted me through the linkshell, and told me to wait for him so he and I could train together. Frosty also asked Pye and Otiluke to join us, since they were in Valkurm too, training with some of their subjobs, and since their current party was just breaking up, they agreed. (OOC: Pye is our linkshell leader; he's a lvl 58 RDM, with a lot of other jobs fairly lvled up. He's a really nice guy; he's kinda chivalrous, always telling Malakai, a friend of his both in real life and in the game who happens to be a high-lvl Dark Knight, to watch his language by reminding him that there are ladies in the linkshell. XD He also organizes events, such as races, and gives out prizes. ^^ Otiluke is a high-level White Mage who's also friends with Pye and Malakai. He's also really nice. ^^) Pye was training as a Bard, while Otiluke was training as a Summoner. We got together with two Warriors, and then headed out to Siren Sands to take on Beach Pugils. Here we are resting in between fights, with Pye singing us a song. (Pye and Oti are so cuuute~ )

And here's a pic of us fighting a Beach Pugil:

After awhile, though, it got late, and I decided to head back to Selbina to rest for the night. And that's all for this entry. I'll try to have some more soon (hopefully of me reaching lvl 20 and getting my chocobo license! ^^). Until then, enjoy! ^^

                          • Hi again, all! I've got another entry, and this one's got lots of pics! ^^

After waking up in Selbina the following day, I headed back out to Valkurm and found another group who wanted to fight Beach Pugils for training. Here's a few pics of our fights:

After awhile, I felt the training I had recieved was sufficient...

...and I headed back to Selbina to sell off a few Shall Shells I had found on Snippers we killed while training. Then I used a scroll of Instant Warp that I bought from a War Warlock back home at Windurst and warped back to Windurst Waters.

After I got back to Windurst, I did a bit of shopping, then headed home to rest. The next morning, I woke up and sheathed my new Mercenary's Knife at my waist before heading out for Jeuno to see if I could get a chocobo license.

The trip to Jeuno was pretty uneventful, other than one slightly embarrasing incident in Sauromugue Champaign. See, the monsters there are way too strong for me, so I have to sneak by them. As I was travelling, a thunderstorm started rolling through the area. While I was hiding behind one of the many ancient towers dotting the region waiting for some monsters ahead to move out of my way, I heard a loud sound and practically had a heart attack, thinking that there was a monster behind me and that I was surely gonna die. As it turned out, though, it was just some thunder. (OOC: I was also quite embarrased for the whole trip to Jeuno... I didn't want to risk dying and losing my level, so I ran as a level 1 RDM. The only level 1 equipment I had, though, was my Blood Stone, which is a waist accessory and doesn't show up anyway. So basically, I had to run the whole way naked. :dead: )

When I got to Jeuno, I headed to the chocobo stable in Upper Jeuno and asked the owner if I could get a chocobo license. He told me that if I could prove that I would take good care of chocobos, he would give me a license. As I looked around the stable, trying to think of a way to do that, I noticed that one chocobo hunched over, looking sick. Forgetting about my license for the moment, I decided to see what was wrong. When I went over to it and asked the little boy standing next to it what was wrong, he replied that the chocobo was sick, and that he had probably run away from an abusive owner. Feeling sorry for the poor bird, I asked the boy if there was anything I could do for it. He told me that Gaussebit Grass had medicinal properties for chocobos, and that if I could get some of that, it might help the chocobo recover.

So, once again going out of my way to help someone (I have a habit of doing that  ), I headed to the closest Auction House and bought four clumps of Gaussebit Grass for 3,280 gil. On my way back to the stable, I noticed a Mithra standing outside her house that looked exactly like me!

Shaking off the shock of the encounter, I headed down to the chocobo stable and tried to give the sick chocobo some of the Gaussebit Grass I just bought. However, he wouldn't take it, instead cowering from my presence. The little boy next to the chocobo told me that chocobos won't take food from people they don't know, and to come back tomorrow and try again. It was getting late, so I headed to my Rent-a-Room and went to sleep.

The next morning, I met a young Mithra kitten by the name of Zona Shodhun who asked me if I had any yellow rocks. I told her that I didn't, and told her that if I found any, I'd be sure to bring one to her. She purred happily and thanked me, and I made my way back to the chocobo stable. I again tried to feed the chocobo some Gaussebit Grass, but he still was too uneasy around me, and refused to eat. A bit discouraged, I decided to go do a bit of shopping. I stopped by an Auction House, and what should I see but a yellow rock! It was selling for a little over 2,000 gil, but I was feeling generous, so I bought it for little Zona. I also bought a Steel Ingot for Bluffnix, since that was one of the things he said he needed to upgrade my Gobbiebag. That set me back quite a bit, as well, but I did put up three Dhalmel Hides and my old dagger (OOC: a Dagger +1, to be exact) for sale at the Auction House to make up for all the spending I was doing. Finished shopping for the day, I decided to go give Zona the yellow rock I had bought her. She was ecstatic, and after a bit of happily dancing around, she calmed down and told me she had a secret she wanted to tell me. Sure enough, just like Ohja, Kuu, and Valah, she taught me about the layout of the back alleys of the town, and what shortcuts I could take to exit to any area of Jeuno from my Mog House. Thanking her, I headed home and talked with my linkshell for awhile before heading off to sleep for the night.

The next morning, I headed straight to the chocobo stable, determined to help the sick chocobo at any cost. I once again offered him some Gaussebit Grass, and this time he ate it, though I could still see him eyeing me somewhat uneasily. Around the time he finished, this mean-looking Hume walked into the stable and started demanding that someone hand over what was stolen from him. The owner calmly asked what the man wanted, and the Hume turned to him angrily, saying that the sick chocobo I just fed was his and that they had stolen it from him. The owner berated the man, telling him that the chocobo ran away because the man was absusive to the poor bird. The man angrily claimed that it was the only way to make an animal obedient, and said there was no harm in it, since the chocobo was "just a stupid animal." Before the owner could even get a word in, though, I walked up and told the man off, telling him that if he wanted the bird back, he'd have to get through me first. At first it looked like he might try just that, so I reached down to pull my Mercenary's Knife out of it's sheath at my waist. Noticing that I was serious, the coward back down and claimed that he would be back.

After the man left, the owner thanked me and noted that the chocobo really seemed to be taking to me. He said if I kept it up, I'd have my license in no time. Delighted at hearing this, I thanked him and headed back to my Rent-a-Room to relax for the rest of the day. For the next three days, I did basically the same thing, taking the chocobo some Gaussebit Grass once a day. After I had given him all the grass I had bought, the chocobo loved me, and the owner gave me a Chocobo License. After a bit of dancing around the stable happily, I head over to the stable in the port and rented a chocobo for 147 gil to ride back home to Windurst. Here's a few pics of the trip:

(OOC: That last one is my wallpaper now. ^^ If anyone wants to use it as wallpaper as well, I've attached the full version of it to this post.)

And that's all for this entry. Stay tuned for more! ^^
