Lost, but it was entirely bad luck and my own stupidity.

Sleep TP to 200, run in, Penta, took down more than 1/3. He called his Wyvern. I ate Icarus Wing, did another Penta, which ended up missing 4/5 times (I may have killed him outright if at least 4 connected). Here I tried to Super Jump, but in the heat of it, I forgot to switch targets to his dragon, so he just turned back on me and crushed me. Can't afford items and don't have the will to hunt another testimony right now......but he is very very very beatable.

I posted best time on Ragnarok since the reset and I didn't even eat my Icarus Wing. 1/8 is my final score. Not bad, not the best. He's no walk in the park. I survived him with only 23 HP.

Thanks goes to Herodrink for this one. Without his tireless efforts in helping me I wouldn't have even had the chance to fail so many times cheers mate.

Does anyone know what i need to do to prepare for the bard fight with maat? I'm now almost lvl 69 so will be fighting him soon and want to know if i should be saving money or doing something to prepare.

From what I have heard a HQ +2 requiem flute is a necessity and when fighting maat its good to light threnody sould voice and requiem him, but after that what else do I do? should i fight him with a weapon (if so which) and just throwdown? or should i run around the arena and try to avoid him while letting requiem do the dmg for me? I have also heard that using bat earrings and blinding yourself helps, but dunno if that works. Any ideas or tips would help

(Xuande I know you won this so any help would be nice)

is it just me, or are high potions a complete waste of time and money? With every 2 high potions you heal the damage of one swing, and by then he hits you again. It gets to the point where you're just chugging down all of your high pots like mad and your HP stays the same...

Time record probably reseted after the series of emergency maintenances.

Record time for THF genkai5 is 29 seconds.

Cause rangers have this ability called shadowbind so we have the time to use hipotions without getting attacked

Fighting him was a waste, not only of time but of gil. It's still good to see everyone getting that old man out of the way. Thank God it's over.

I can't call this a strategy, it's just what I did:
-Items and pre-fight prep-
* You don't have to get a HQ flute, I did the bastok quests to get the Serene flute which is also +2 Requiem. Soulvoice with +2 Requiem adds up to a lot of damage so it's definitly not to be overlooked
* The songs to sing are paeon (sp?) III and IV. If you can afford it get the HQ +2 harp, though I settled with the +1 one
* Use your highest skill weapon (more accuracy). Preferrably dagger because your HP won't be high enough for spirits within to do any significant damage. Cyclone did some nice damage. If you dont have a weapon above skill level 200 I would definitly consider skilling up
* I wouldn't mess with the bat pierces, just get 2 phalanx rings. Also substitute any +MP-HP items you have with something else, as you won't be needing that MP. I wore my AF for the added HP
* Get as many hi potions as you can carry, I used 14 I think
* Get a stack of HP regen drink (I know selbina milk works but I'm sure theres another?)
* The HQ boiled crab (boiled scissor maybe? I don't know english name ) is the food you want to eat
* Make macros for anything necessary, hi-pots, etc
* Be prepared to lose

-The fight-
* Sing paeons without soul voice upon entry, eat food, and drink a HP regen drink (In this order). Always keep a regen drink up, as it heals HP, and it acts as a dummy buff for finale when he uses it on you
* Get in range of casting requiem on maat, but so he won't come after you. It's not so important to be that exact, as you notice maat is singing buff songs and you dont want him to sing too many
* Engage maat so that your weapon is out and ready (but you're still safely away)
* Soul voice and immediately Requiem, then ellegy, then finale
* As soon as that's done, sing paeon 3 and 4 (The order matters as I think maat might sing finale on you after 3 and you'd rather have 4 up than 3)
* Timing is crucial. Soul voice lasts exactly 3 minutes. So, you'll want to end it just right by singing paeon 3, 4, then requiem, to give you the optimum ammount of time with soulvoice'd songs. After soulvoice ends, you can count on the paeons for lasting 2 minutes after you sung them, so dont sing them again until they're about to clear. Don't cast requiem again until it wears off
* Maat will sing buff songs often, particularly painful is when he himself sings paeon. Keep using finale to get rid of these
* Use hi potions to keep your HP up, you don't want to get one-shotted by dream asura

Doubt it, but anyways, the best time before mine was same as Kirara's but one minute more (3mins something).

Here's what I did

-all int gear, black cloak
-melon pie int (elvaan with no sub) 55+32=87
-shockspike
-Flare from furthest reach
-maat starts running/casting, maat is now low resist against water
-run/slide back further while hitting sign macro, cause you're still recovering from flare cast and can't do another ability yet
-sleep2
-run far away again
-cast aspel on him to check if positioning is close enough
-2hour, Flood

now one of two things
-run out of his range if he casts something strong, and cast your highest non-ancient spell as soon he comes into your range

-if he starts running to you, or casts something stupid, cast your highest non-ancient spell because it won't be interrupted, since you are on SP still

your highest non-ancient should be about 7 seconds cast time, ga3 or stone4

Above only works if no spells are resisted, a problem for elvaan or galka even with best int, spirit boost and maxed skills. Sometimes he resists the first ancient and it does half damage.

win on 5th try, 88 HP left.

No real fancy equips or anything. Ate defense food, wore Phalanx ring to offset sniper def. hit.

Slept to 180ish TP, eat Selbina Milk for slow HP regen, walk in.
Penta, he called Wyvern. Jump, High Jump, and one normal atttack each from me and Toryu killed it. Attacked Maat normally until he used WS. Used Super Jump, turned away, let Selbina Milk regen a bit. ate X Potion, this brought hate back on me. Penta, he died. Didn't need Icarus Wing, but it was close.
