HAHAHA Dude, congrats, mad skill there. I recently beat Maat as BRD. The strat was to go Evasion crazy with equipment, and do dual mambo. He finale'd my Selbina Milk too :D

I guess I’ll post my strategy since I recently won with BRD. Looks like Xuande posted to but I guess I’ll post what I did since I’m 1-0 win him at lvl 69. Plus I did something different and I’ll include a little more detail.

Equipment:
-Full set of Crab armor for Head, Pants, and Hands. This stuff is great cause it as more defense than anything else a BRD can wear and I heard the latent of like +80Def, +30Atk actives after a WS. VERY useful after Maat uses his WS on you.
-Used AF Pants and Feet
-Necklace was Tiger Stole, about +5 atk and 3 def. Nothing really better to wear besides Chr Stuff.
-Earrings were HQ Agi+3 ones
-Rings were Def:10 Phlanx rings
Back: Anament <sp? With like atk+10 (borrowed this one from a friend)
Belt: Acc+10 life Belt
Weapon: Really good 1h sword
Instruments: Forgot the names but the Paeon +, Requiem+, and Elergy+ ones.

Skills:
-1h Sword skill was at 200ish
-Evasion skill was at 200ish
-Instrument levels were capped

Food/Items:
-Boiled Crab
-19 High Potions
-4 Sleeping Thingies

Pre Buffs:
-I used opo-opo necklace and used 4 sleeping potions to get me 100% tp. After that I used Soul Voice and used Paeon III and IV together. (This with soul voice and instrument = 20hp/3sec)
Battle Plan:
-Started off with Requiem then did Elergy
-Maat was doing about 80-100 per hit
-I was doing about 60-70 but I didn’t miss too often
-Maat used Soul Voice pretty much at the very beginning
-He used Requiem, Elergy, and then a bunch of useless buff spells on himself like Int+
-He likes to use Magic Finale. Make sure to recast your songs and bring more food
-Remember to recast songs again like Requiem, Elergy, and Paeons before Soul Voice runs out because the 2hr is still in effect just as long as you play the songs before the SP runs out. Just the ones you do at the very beginning wont last the whole battle.
-The WS I used was Spirits Within at 300%. It pretty much took the whole battle to get 300%. Did around 400ish
-His WS did about 400 damage
-I tried to keep my HP in the white most the time. Used about 5 high Potions before his WS and about 10 after.
-Maat gave up at about 20% HP left.

We all know that each job has some “weird” way of winning. Like THF steals a scroll or something. I believe BRD is survive Maats soul voice. Since he did it at the very beginning I think that’s why he gave up with like 20% hp. I know other BRD friends who had to get him down to 5-10% before he gave up.

That’s pretty much it. If I had to sum everything down it would be:
Equip Opo-Opo Necklace>Use 4 Sleeping potions>Switch back to whatever necklace>Use Food>Use Soul Voice>Sing Paeon IV and III>Sing Requiem on Maat>Sing Elergy on Maat>Bust out your weapon and save TP>Use high potions every so often>After awhile recast all songs again>Bust out your TP>survive with the rest of your high potions>win

Well that’s what I did. Hope this helps someone

(By the way if you have a Dezone scroll in your MH BRING IT WITH YOU XDXDXDXDXD. Maat didn't give me one at the end of battle because I forgot I had one in my mog and I was stuck in Fei-Yin all by myself!!! I had to go bum a DezoneII off some blm that was hunting chests there D: )

EDIT: Oh and don't even bother about the CHR equipment. All the songs landed 100% and I had like +0 chr.

To make you feel more confident: I know a Taru Brd that went in with 0 attack/Defense/Accuracy equipment (just all his chr stuff), a level 160 sword, and 160 evasion, and A TARU and he still won so……just as long as you have more stats than a level 40 Brd and hope Maat doesn’t do anything really dramatic you should be ok

according to the jan-feb announcements from square-enix, rdm genkai 5 difficulty is being "adjusted."

Do you happen to know what the total amount of damage you did to Maat was? Because I've been reading that the requirement appears to be 2600-2700. However, this morning I made another attempt where I did 2722 damage to Maat and still lost.

Do you happen to know how many total HP you cured? I'm wondering this because maybe, MAYBE healing a certain amount is also a requirement for RDM, and I haven't been tracking that.

Did you use Bio at all? There was no mention of it, but it is the ONE AND ONLY thing I can think of that I didn't do. I weapon skilled him twice. I used curing, strengthening, weakening, and attacking, but not darkness.

I also survived his SP and got KOed after he used TWO, TWO weapon skills in a ROW on me, which seemed rather un freaking fair. Since I had used a reraise scroll prior to beginning the fight, I reraised at the point, but by the time I had used a yagudo drink, the battle timed out. And this was the first out of I don't even REMEMBER how many attempts against him that he used Asura. Normally he hits me with Combo, Tankei, or no weapon skill at all. Bleh.

Anyways, if anyone has any thoughts on what I requirements I could POSSIBLY be missing, I would absolutely love to hear it. Thanks.

P.S. Yes I'm aware that they're patching this battle in a matter of days now. Out of principle, I would very much like to beat it PRIOR to the patch, so please, if all you have to say is "well, maybe you should wait for the patch," don't. Thanks.

I saw a video of a SMN doing genkai 5. All he did was use his 2hr with Titan and did the ability twice.

I dont have any tecnical data on the fight, I dont use screen capture programs when I play using a laptop, infact I use wireless link, pretty careless because I lag alot with that lol.
In terms of curing, I barely did, I prioritised Blink over cure, I had to cure a few times near the end, and use the Vile Elixer+1 at some point. I wont even try to guess how many times I used cure since its been a little while now. BioII I never used. I wont even deny alot of my victory has to do with luck, every genkai5 does, but what I'll probably imagine is if your taking Maats HP way down than surely you are on the right track?

Did Phalanx, blink and stoneskin not help at all? And I always use burain on enemy, always.

Maat takes away blink usually at the start with diaga, then about 3-4 hits and your stoneskin is gone. Phalanx helps some so you should have it up.
