Re: Spike TV/Gametrailers E3 Schedule
The Wii is a console, consoles need games. The devs didn't want to make games you're interested in for the Wii. Unless your complaint revolves around the lack of HD or lack of good Internet connectivity in general, the Wii isn't exactly at fault here. The Wii failed to fulfill my needs as a gamer.

You don't know me my taste in games very well if you're suggesting lack of HD is even a concern.Originally posted by Armando View PostThe Wii is a console, consoles need games. I think the input devices were a significant problem. There were plenty of games that just didn't interest me. There were also plenty of games that did interest me, but the experience was made worse due to the developers having to work with the Wiimote. The few games that weren't crippled by the Wiimote would have done just as well if not better with a standard input device.
Good on Nintendo for trying something new, but it did nothing to improve the experience for me. Quite the opposite in fact.Server: Midgardsormr -> Quetzalcoatl -> Valefor

Re: Spike TV/Gametrailers E3 Schedule
I'm not saying I know your tastes, I was saying that unless HD/Interwebs is your problem, the developers are at fault, not the hardware. No games that interest you? Dev's decision not to release a game on Wii. Controls suck? Dev's fault; there are games that do have good controls. Game doesn't support Classic/GameCube controller as an alternate control scheme? Also the dev's fault*.You don't know me my taste in games very well if you're suggesting lack of HD is even a concern.
*Yes, I realize that there are games that pretty much rely on motion controls and this wouldn't be an option for those.
EDIT: By that same token, at the end of the day whether the Wii U is worth a damn will depend almost entirely on whether there are games you want for it.

Re: Spike TV/Gametrailers E3 Schedule
This from the guy that thinks in-game help via tablet-like controllers is a "gimmick." Gamefaqs is great for wasting time sifting through incomplete guides, getting non-answers and not much else. Miiverse just seems more time-efficient to me, even with a delay. Until then Yahoo Answers is more effective.Originally posted by cidbahamut View PostFixed.

So if I simply despise the input device and the limitations it puts on the developers...I'm inclined to blame the hardware.Originally posted by Armando View PostI'm not saying I know your tastes, I was saying that unless HD/Interwebs is your problem, the developers are at fault, not the hardware. The root of the problem appears to be the hardware. The hardware forms the foundation from which everything else is built. If the hardware influences all the other aspects of the design in ways that don't enhance my personal experience why shouldn't I place the blame primarily on the hardware?Server: Midgardsormr -> Quetzalcoatl -> Valefor

Zombi (video game) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Turns out Zombi U isn't just another generic zombie apoc game. Zombi was the first game made and published by Ubi Soft, so this game is a reboot of the 1986 adventure game.
Also when you die in the Wii U game, you respawn as a different survivor and must defeat your former-now-undead self to recover your inventory. So it's like looting your body in a rogue like or old MMO, except it's shambling around and wants go eat you.
At the very least it's nice someone is thinking of tension and survival elements in a zombie game again.
ZombiU is all about survival, but failure is pretty cool too | Joystiq

So what you're really saying is "I'm repeating my mistake, but you'll have LESS of my money. Haha!"Originally posted by Malacite View PostThis is why I have a hard time supporting them nowadays. Aside from Metroid and Zelda they just don't offer anything I care about anymore.
I'm not repeating my mistake and skipping over the Wii U, at least until the first price drop or so.

I am pretty happy to hear that Nintendo is working on a way to get people's games/game downloads, etc. from their Wii to the WiiU. I hope that turns out well. Only 2 games really caught my attention, and they were Watch Dogs and Project P-100. Hope they turn out as good as they seem :3

EA: Expect discounts, but no Steam-like sales, on Origin -Destructoid
EA basically is saying Steam sales are bad for publishers. Yeah, expanding a fanbase by way of sales is totally a bad idea. I mean, perish the thought of people saving money so they can buy more things.

lolEA, I guess no one told them how impulse purchases work. I have a few games on my Steam account purely because "holy shit, I can spare $3 for that awesome game".Server: Midgardsormr -> Quetzalcoatl -> Valefor

Re: Spike TV/Gametrailers E3 Schedule
I'm not seeing the limitations. The Wiimote + Nunchuk have enough buttons for non-motion-control gameplay. There's the GameCube controller and Classic Controller if you want something less awkward. If a dev doesn't provide the game with support for other control types that's on them - Super Smash Bros Brawl and Fire Emblem support all 4 controller types, even the solo Wii remote. In terms of motion control the Wii U will fare even better because devs can now assume you're using Wii Motion+, which wasn't the case for the Wii because it was added later. So if I simply despise the input device and the limitations it puts on the developers...I'm inclined to blame the hardware.

Re: Spike TV/Gametrailers E3 Schedule
Exactly, and most people buying those discounted games would've never bought 'em anyway, and definitely not at full price. But somehow EA's number crunchers figured 0 bucks is more profitable than 5 or 10.Originally posted by cidbahamut View PostlolEA, I guess no one told them how impulse purchases work. Steam is great at making a profit out of people who weren't even going to buy games anyway. While making a bigger profit out of games that people will buy. For instance they have discounted Skyrim a couple of times, but it has been full price for a while, and people are still buying the game. So it's not like Steam is discounting games just because but actually paying attention to the market.
Something EA has failed to do time and again.
TL;DR > EA fails, then blames it on everyone else. Specially Steam, because their success selling video games is bad for the video game industry. /paradoxsigpic

Re: Spike TV/Gametrailers E3 Schedule
Wii U seems to be loaded with options for controls out of the gate, if they're not utilized properly it's the developers fault. I'm also failing to see a "gimmick" for most games shown, but rather, some great applications of the c
WiiPad overall. Pikmin, Project P-100, ZombiU, Rayman Legends and NSMBU all bring great additions to the gameplay.
Arkham City Armored Edition's application, on the other hand, isn't all that imaginative. Even WB'a own Scribnlenauts Unlimited was light years ahead of it.
Kinda surprised they have not considered a Mario Paint or version of Flipnote Studio for Wii U yet, though.

I want a bazooka back along with the cool games I was promised for it back when the SNES was teaming up with Sony for the CD add-on.
If they don't deliver I will continue my lolNintendoboycott.

Filters. I'm sure they'll have in place a parental control system, much like Blizzard has available in Battle.net accounts, where parents can control or limit the game time of their children. However, if this isn't what Nintendo is planning to do, then I agree with you that their going about this the wrong way.Originally posted by Icemage View PostSigh. C'mon, Nintendo, can't you trust your users even a tiny little bit?
He can't possibly be serious about having Nintendo staff vet every single post, can he? There's going to be millions of Wii U users, and if even a fraction of them are online in Miiverse at any time, it's going to be impossible to handle the traffic, let alone for heavy events like new game releases, where there will undoubtedly be people talking about it.
Then again, if all those posts are moderated and take up to 30 minutes to appear, no one's going to bother, and the problem self-corrects itself... I guess?
Play-by-mail conversations with censorship in the internet age, eh? I've mentioned before that Nintendo's adherence to their squeaky-clean family friendly image would trip them up in the online arena, and this is a perfect example. This is NOT going to go over well with the core gamer crowd, who already have very immediate and unfettered outlets (Twitter, Facebook, Google+).
