Re: Elder Scrolls SKYRIM
Been playing the expansion for the last few hours. I've already veered off the main quest doing misc quests and exploring. Almost right off the bat I met some friendly werewolf pack that sold me werewolf-specific rings, which is a nice addition since werewolves didn't get much beyond the perk tree in Dawnguard while vampire lords got gear. The rings are bought and only available to werewolves (anyone else and this band of werefolk are likely to just attack you) - that and they're 3-4k a pop.
I've not met any companions beyond one quest-based on. I think they figured you were just going to bring along Serana anyway so they didn't really try to top her. And they're right - I did bring her with me. Still can't marry her, though, they're sticking to that.
The area doesn't seem all that familiar this time, but then, 200 years have passed, Red Mountain blew its top and now half the place is covered in ash, dark elves and their architecture, replacing some of the old Imperial and Nordic establishments, but not all.
This other Dragonborn, Miraak, is a troll, too. Slay a dragon in Solsthiem and he shows up to absorb its soul, laughs at you and disappears. So hopefully you stocked up on souls in Skyrim before travelling north east to Solstheim. He's a jerkass.
A nice touch is they integrated some of the Morrowind OST into the mix. More or less Morrowind, Skyrim and a few new compositions weave in and out. I like the reuse of the Morrowind stuff, though. Feels appropriate.
There are new shouts, along with armor familiar to the region, a new nord armor popped up which looks pretty nice, but you can also find it in Skyrim. Nothing too fancy for weapons yet, but then, since i built The Crossbow That Killed the World its really hard to find something that impresses in that regard. Hopefully something besides those rings - at least something Atherium Crown calibur will turn up. Since this is a region connected to Morrowind, there's likely to be some Dwemer ruins here.

Major Skyrim Dragonborn details leak out - SlashGear
Seems like there's a substantial amount of content this time out, at least compared to Dawnguard.

Killing them is usually an option, and when it's not you just let them do all the work for you.

There are plenty of quests where you are stuck with an NPC following you around and you can't do much about it.

Re: Elder Scrolls SKYRIM
Well what in the world are you doing playing a sneaky character and letting someone follow you around? That's a recipe for disaster.Originally posted by Firewind View PostI wouldn't call it completely overpowered. Stealth characters tend to be fucked if they get anywhere near a remotely fair fight (like if the sneak attack doesn't one shot your opponent or you miss), and its impossible to be stealthy if you have any NPC with you because Bethesda let Mezlo write the combat AI.
Sneak Attacks not one-shotting opponents isn't even a big deal. If it's ranged you just skulk off into the shadows until they stop searching or if you're stabbing people you just hit them with a Calm spell and then backstab again. God only knows how much crazier this is gonna be once I get an Invisibility spell.

Re: Elder Scrolls SKYRIM
I gave up on illusion magic after Oblivion, it just didn't see terribly fair to have stealth but be able to have 100% active Chameleon, so I'm kinda glad they cut that spell out and limited some of the others. I know purists bemoan Skyrim having dropped a lot of the tedium of prior entries but if you want to hop around to raise your athletic skill go waste your time with that skill in older entries.

Re: Elder Scrolls SKYRIM
Anything that causes you to sink more time into an ES game is good for me. Its actually great to see that Bethesda learned from the Horse Armour bullshit with the expansions that they have been putting our for Skyrim and New Vegas. It doesn't even annoy me that the 360 kids get it a month earler either because it gives me an excuse to spend a month playing Skyrim to prep my saves for the expansion.Originally posted by Omgwtfbbqkitten View PostIts 1600 MS points ($20), but if its Solsthiem, its likely at least comparable to Bloodmoon and Shivering Isles in size and scope.
Current favourite character is my Thief/Mage that is based on the character that I play in Yyg's D&D campaign. Being a stealth character in Skyrim is kind of overpowered but a hell of a lot of fun. There is a lot of satisfaction in setting up an ambush in a room full of Bandits and taking out each and every one of them with the bow and dagger without anyone even realising that anyone has died.

Re: Elder Scrolls SKYRIM
Kinda derailed it and I know not everyone looks at the MTG thread......sorrry. But...on topic. The new DLC comes out so sooooon, I want it sooo bad. I think it's going to be 1200 like Atorias the Abyss Walker for Dark Souls.

Melody. Although that picture is funny, try not to use it everywhere. the MTG thread was more than enough.
As for the MTG talk in general. Can we try to keep it isolated to the MTG thread?
k thnx bie
