The store didn't go to shit because it suddenly became more Gamestop but because a key responsible employee left.

Whether the experience with the handful of stores each person in this thread has patronized or been employed at can be generalized and taken as the norm in the millions of Gamestop outlets across the country is absolutely impossible to determine based on the data given and completely pointless to discuss. You can complain or brag all you want about the tidiness and customer service of your local Gamestop but that is utterly irrelevant to anyone else in this thread or how they should feel about Gamestops in general.
I see that result, but interpret it differently. To me that says that there is an overarching problem with Gamestop that is periodically kept in check by accident of responsible employees being present for a time. Once said employees leave, the stores go back to being crumby. This is a problem with management and the higher ups(read:not grunts working the register and stocking shelves). The higher ups fail to keep everyone in line with the good work the responsible employees were doing.

TL;DR: [ramble ramble ramble], Higher Ups are supposed to be responsible and make sure everyone's not doing a shitty job. Unfortunately they aren't doing anything to keep the stores running nicely, so yeah I'm calling that a problem with Gamestop rather than a problem with individual stores.

More like there's a lack of good company policy regarding quality assurance.

In all seriousness, this thread has inspired me. I haven't applied to Gamestop yet. I'm sure they don't pay quite enough and I'd have to find some way to cut back while I look for a better job, but might as well put an app in, right?

                        Re: Gamestop!

I am often tempted to apply at a fast food place just so I can show the people how to take a damn order or at least so some small segment of fast food patrons can experience the subtle pleasure of getting the food they paid for. Honestly though, what policy would make the lazy or incompetent people at the bottom stand up and do their jobs right? You must know what the average quality of applicants to Gamestop is; aggressively firing underperformers would only cycle through poor employees faster. At the wages offered, Gamestop positions attract roughly the same segment of the work force as the people mangling orders at the Burger King, only pared down for gaming interest and language proficiency.

                          Re: Gamestop!

I can't work in food service. I have a food-related phobia, which sounds retarded, but is true. Obviously I can eat, but I have a lot of food-related issues and so I never apply for a position somewhere that I may have to handle food. Which can be limiting, of course, but those places generally suck to work and pay terribly so it's not much of a loss.

You'd think someone with prior military service would be a desired employee, but you could have fooled me.

Botched fast food orders are a major pet peeve of mine. I realize the job sucks and you must take a thousand orders a day, but it's not hard. There's no excuse for making me bring the food back for a correction literally two-thirds of the time, and that's an average of all the fast food places I've been to around here in the past year or two. I'm usually ordering for 4-5 people and they usually want things held from their sandwiches so I may be one of the higher difficulty customers, but come on seriously.

You know, I've never had the luxury of having a job where i can "work" and my biggest concern of the day is what websites the company firewall prevents me from visiting, but if I did I don't think the people that worked that way would be much higher up than your average fast food employee.

Oh wait, did I just step on any toes here?

                                Let me fix that.

Herpdederp Welcome 2 gaemstop! Wut system are you pre-ordering The Legend of Zelda: Skyward Sword for?

                                Did I do it right?
