Everything you've said has been pretty half-assed, which is to be expected from someone that just wants to complain about something rather than see something done about it.

Again, I suggest calling a district manager if a particular store seems to have issues, but I'd give him stronger reasons than stickers. District managers go out and light a fire on their the asses of the stores they're assigned.

Call them, be firm but also be polite about your problem. They will see it gets fixed or you should stop doing business with them.

When Time Warner decided to test bandwidth capping in my area, do you think everyone just went to some forum to complain about it? We had protesters, being calling to say they were consideringcancelling subscriptions as well as those that actually did cance.

Plus some people pointed to what other services they'd be leaving TWC for. Whole bunch of 4G and DSL providers in my area and they're more than sufficient for most people's needs.

      TWC straightened up quick.

What is half-assed about it? Gamestop stores are dirty, cluttered messes. They put stickers on almost everything, save for whatever's in the case behind the counter. This isn't a particular store, either. This is every single store in this area. The store in Germantown fits the description, the two in Gaithersburg fit it, the one in Rockville does, the two in the same mall down 270 fit it. Why call the district manager when I'm sure I'd be telling him what he already knows? The only reason I shop there is because it's slightly more convenient than Amazon, and the lesser of all other evils in the area, such as Best Buy or Walmart.

I still have not heard any ideas from you on how to improve the situation that doesn't worsen the issue of retail shelf space and backroom space. All you do is complain about petty, trivial things like stickers. What's the alternative to stickers - leaving it blank so the customer can guess what the price is?

Space is always the issue with Gamestop and until they start dropping money on outlet-sized stores - which will never happen - its going to be that way.

Prices go on shelves right below the games.
Flat rate price for used games.
Organize games by price, different price for each shelf.
            In-store pricing index.

Shrink-wrap (or whatever), put the sticker over that.

But then the games can't be manhandled in the overstuffed bucket of them they store behind the counter Aks. Those instruction manuals aren't going to crease themselves.

Thought that was to prevent theft. Re-wrapping the games would do the same. Put those alarm tags over the wrapping too so people can't just run out of the store with them.

Of course I have no idea how much this would cost in terms of materials and labor but I have to say, I hate the stickers too.

oh hell no... do you have any idea how much work that would be on our end?....good god.

Flat rate for used games..... no does not work that way

organize by price? uuumm no not when the price can and does change on a dayly basis

place the sticker under the game? Would be nice if the games went back in the same spots, we just rough alphabetize, not strick.... and not enough room to do that anyway.

There are machine now (touch screen) where you can scan a game and it will tell you the price and a few things about the game.

and really ask the employee? you know how many times people as me the price of something.... when the price is on the box?

Well if they prefer to ask, so why not do away with the awful stickers?

Look you need to understand that what ever GS you go to, apparently is not the norm, and you need to complain to corporate about it, all the stores in my area (5 total) are clean, and keep all new games nice and safe behind a glass shelf (well the 360 and PS3 anyway) and the ones in the drawers are not stuff or crammed, they are placed neatly in order.

Actually I'm pretty sure it's the other way around. You and BBQ are the only ones who seem to be encountering these properly run stores, so I'd say regardless of whether or not the crappy ones are GS approved, the crappy stores are the norm.

well then complain, call dont just sit there -.- if you visit a "bad store" take pics and send them to GS corporate, trust me it would have an effect.

Or I could just take my business elsewhere and be passive-aggressive about the whole thing. I shouldn't have to be the one calling stores out, GS should be taking care of that internally and they clearly are not.

Very easy for the customer to exploit that one. Just switch around the games and "Oh, I found this on the $4.99 shelf."

Gee, Bulletstorm used for $4.99 - wouldn't sound a tad off now, would it?

Flat rate price for used games.

                                Oh wait, you're serious.

Right, right - because alphabetizing the used section twice by $20 and up and under $20 isn't already time-consuming enough given customers just put games back wherever they want.

                                In-store pricing index.
Not what the customer wants, trust me. They want to be able to see the game is there, see how much it is, not squint at a list. Not an eco-friendly option anyway.

Not to mention the index would never be consistent and have to be replaced weekly. Homefront has been so wildly unpopular that the used price is already $47.99 due to the sheer volume of trade-ins and returns. That game's gong to drop in its used value again before the month is out, most likely, to say nothing of the retail price probably being $30 by May.

But that's just one dud this year. Some of those DS games are going to change when 3DS is out, too, amoung other shifts within the system. We have the Super Guides in stores to serve the purpose of not only price-checking games, but seeing where games are located in our stores via Google Maps. Even that system is not accurate as it gets refreshed once a day.

                                Asking an employee.
Right, I want to have to answer this question a million times a day, as if my voice isn't worn out ofter five to eight hours of speaking as it is. To say nothing of checking the system a zillion times. I'll save this courtesy for people calling the store or if the game is labeled in a confusing fashion.

                                Shall I keep going?
Since your ideas are either laughable, waste employee/customer time or create headaches for employee/customers perhaps you should quit while you're ahead.

I've mentioned my idea before, a laminated copy of the box art laid on the wall with pricing and voucher slip beneath them - sort of like what some Toys R Us stores do or some of them used to - but that's a lot of paper wasted and all the sealed games and used game cases would then be behind the counter or in the back room. Were my idea to be executed in stores as they exist now, there wouldn't be much room to breathe in the back room and we'd probably lose the employee bathroom to it as well.

It sounds easy and perhaps if you're a low traffic store, it would be OK so long as you had someone to watch the front while someone attended to it in the backroom, but for a high traffic store with more space you may want to have two or three people keeping an eye on the floor.

Plus someone might steal the case if shrink-wrapped, thinking the game is actually in it. The way things are run at Gamestop being rather loss-preventive as it is, Gamestop doesn't use alarms for security devices other retailers have shipped in their games.

There are things people can still steal in Gamestop, but games are among the more difficult things to steal there. There are some used bins that actually contain games, but that varies from store to store and its usually old sports games and shit.

The fact is that Gamestop buys shoebox-sized stores and tend to only keep one or two people on shift if they can get away with it, so that greatly affects what the employees can do. If you can spare time to organize the DS or Wii or 360 used sections to double-alphabetize them by $20 and up and Under $20 its been a slow day and you're lucky if that organization holds for few days since people put things back where ever they feel like.
