Re: New Monster Hunters...
Free demo discs of Monster Hunter Tri at Gamestops, in case anyone is interested. I put in my pre-order and picked one up this weekend. Pre-orders get 500 free points.

Re: New Monster Hunters...
I suppose you are implying that I'm a Wii naysayer... which I'm not.
I just don't want to spend 200+ dollars for a console where I will play 1 game. I'm already a pretty casual gamer and adding another console doesn't make a whole lot of sense.
Mind you, I'll probably end up getting a wii ANYWAYS because I have a group of friends that already have Wiis and are getting MHTri.

Yeah, you'll just be waiting another year from now and buying Monster Hunter Freedom 3 right as they release Monster Hunter Portable 3rd G in Japan.
I'm all for a 3rd MHP, but I don't understand the mentality of all the Wii naysayers here. The wait for Tri has already been this long but instead of buying a Wii (which is apparently a complete travesty, how could anyone expect you to buy a console with a handful of amazing games? that shit is for kids, right?) you would rather wait another year and have a game that you can only play online by jumping through hoops with a PS3, and even then it still wont compare to the real online mode that Tri has.
I'll be buying both, without question. Day 1, midnight release, whatever, I will be there immediately. Gotta get my Slash Axe on.

Re: New Monster Hunters...
I guess I'm lucky to have people to play with locally, as well as having access to adhoc. But yes, having full online support out of the box would be nice. Either way, it won't prevent me from buying it day one.

Re: New Monster Hunters...
Thats how I see it myself, its ok to have P2P play, but come on now, this is not the GBA and GB of old... we have wireless everywhere now ;pOriginally posted by Omgwtfbbqkitten View PostThey haven't said whether or not it will have Infrastructure support, but they'd be fools to listen to only have ad-hoc support again. Phantasy Star Portable 2 isn't taking any chances, its going to have Infrastructure play.
No Infrastructure, no buy. That's how I'm looking at these games from now on. I Nintendo DS games can do it - and they usually do - there is no excuse for PSP games not doing it.

Re: New Monster Hunters...
that's still not native support though, I should not have to have a PS3 just to play Monster Hunter PsP online with others -.-Originally posted by Ufgt View PostAdhoc has been rumored for release in NA, so psp mhf3 online is def viable. Besides, you can get adhoc from jpn psn for a long while now.
I stopped playing Monster Hunter all together, but now that Monster Hunter Tri is coming out, I will be back in it faster then a Mithra on a Taru ;p

Re: New Monster Hunters...
the fact that none of the PSP version have online nativity, makes the Wii version 100% better to me ;pOriginally posted by Ufgt View PostBumping this thread due to announcement of MHF3 for PSP. I may not have to get a wii now...
I loved Monster hunter, ever since we got the PS2 original.....but I could not play the PsP versions for the simple fact that I was the only one to have a PSP let alone Monster hunter, and only could play alone.
on a side note, here is the release info for Monster Hunter Tri
# US & EU releases will feature FREE online play.
# US & EU will have separate servers. So Americans will not be able to play with Europeans or Japanese (and vice versa).
# Online play will consist of 4-player teams. The "lobby" areas will be in the form of a city, similar to the Town of Minegarde for Monster Hunter (Playstation 2).
# Online "arm wrestling" feature.
# Decorate your house with furnishings and invite other players to view your home.
# Add players to your friends list or search online via their "Online ID"
-----> * Monster Hunter Tri will not be using friend codes <----- THANK GOD!
# Chat online using the onscreen keyboard, a USB keyboard, or pre-made messages.
# Wii Speak is confirmed for the European and American release
# Wii Speak is not supported in the Japanese version.
# Despite misconceptions of MH3 to offer DLC (downloaded content), there will not be any. However, there are event quests.

Well lets see how Monster Hunter 3 does here first, and if Capcom will charge the Wii points they do in Japan for the online part.
If they do what they did with Monster Hunter 1 on PS2 over here, they wont, but we will see.

Re: New Monster Hunters...
I think most console players don't have the foresight, patience, and attention span to tackle most of the MH missions. I think PC players would be better suited for this.
