Re: Ness, Jigglypuff and Lucario confirmed for Brawl
I used Urban Dictionary because it's slang. Do you have a subscription to OED online? That's the only real dictionary that's likely to have it.
Edit: Here.
spoil·er /ˈspɔɪlər/
–noun
1. a person or thing that spoils.
"spoiler." Dictionary.com Unabridged (v 1.1). Random House, Inc. 25 Jan. 2008. <Dictionary.com http://dictionary.reference.com/browse/spoiler>.
spoil·er (spoi'lər)
n.
5. A published piece of information that divulges a surprise, such as a plot twist in a movie.
"spoiler." The American Heritage® Dictionary of the English Language, Fourth Edition. Houghton Mifflin Company, 2004. 25 Jan. 2008. <Dictionary.comhttp://dictionary.reference.com/browse/spoiler>.
Re: Ness, Jigglypuff and Lucario confirmed for Brawl
I don't mean to be an ass, but if it wasn't meant to bring a surprise to some degree then Nintendo would release a full roster. Either way, lets talk more about the leak, and less about things being spoiled. What's done is done.

Not at all.
Keeping the release of new info very slow instead of revealing everything at once gives them a lot more attention. It keeps people interested and hyped.
Re: Ness, Jigglypuff and Lucario confirmed for Brawl
ZOMG X Character is in Y game! MAJOR SPOILZERS!
Seriously, get over it. Not like we ruined the ending of a movie or anything here. Normally I don't side with Feba, but gonna have to agree with him here. If you don't like it then just let it go and stop ranting about it because there's jack shit you can do about it.
Re: Ness, Jigglypuff and Lucario confirmed for Brawl
I can see that, but even then I'm sure to some degree they hold back some info because they intend to surprise some fans. I doubt it is purely for hype. There are many facets to why individuals and corporations follow through with such actions. This is my last post on such a matter in this topic, feel free to take it as a concession if you wish. I just feel such a debate is pointless as there is never a true way to know such a thing short of Nintendo and the creators of SSBM Brawl expressing it.

And there is one more important thing...
When you have a battle mode that runs online like Basic Brawl, the problem of what to do with hidden characters arises. If one of your opponents chooses a character you haven’t unlocked yet, it will be spoiled for you immediately.
But even without this mode, given the proliferation of the Internet these days, the existence of hidden characters is going to get exposed anyway.
So, this time I’m moving in the direction of not being too hung up on hidden characters.
You can earn most characters by playing through Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary. For those of you who look forward to those encounters, I recommend you clear this mode before playing Basic Brawl.
And as the case has always been, I’ve made it so you can play the characters you unlock in battles.
There you go.
