Nope, those two are completely expected and where even in the first trailer.

And all of these icons were in a trailer too.

If you don't like reading information about video games, perhaps you should stay off forums that are entirely about video games.

Should I have to be concerned with spoilers for games other than FFXI on an FFXI forum? No. They'll be there, they're expected. (Edit: they = the FFXI spoilers)

If I posted spoilers for Lost Odyssey or some other game or movie, in a thread title, would that be alright? No. They shouldn't be there.

Your enjoyment of SSBB won't be ruined by knowing what characters are in it, your enjoyment of a movie or book easily could be. If knowing what characters are in SSBB truly makes it no fun for you to play, you weren't going to like it anyway.

Filtering the entire 'latest posts' link from the forums home page is probably the best way to go. Above the 'latest posts' listing, click the arrow to minimize and hide the entire stats layout.

From there scan through the forums listing and click any arrows for other sections you want to hide. In this case, you'd want to click the arrow on the 'General Topics' title bar. *poof* no more Video Games subforum.

It's rather extreme but it should allow you to browze through the rest of the site without any nasty video game related surprises. Lord knows someone might tell you that Peach gets kidnapped by Bowser in the next Mario platformer or something.

On the contrary.

Melee was one of my favorite games. I didn't know a damned thing about it besides it being the next Smash Bros. game and it was coming to Gamecube. My enjoyment was greatly enhanced by every new character, item, and stage being a surprise.

I was only able to enjoy Dragon Quest 5 after having it's plot spoiled for me. And I'm usually only able to enjoy classic literature or movies when I'm aware of their historical context, or the author's story, that sort of thing. My best friend called me on the phone to tell me that Aeris died. Didn't impact my enjoyment of the game at all.
