Re: The new trend: Sueing SONY
Tell me about it >.< Not long ago a judge sued a dry-cleaner's run by a family of Korean immigrants because they lost a pair of his pants. He sued them for 54 million dollars because of the following:
-Emotional damage caused by the lost pants
-The cost of gas to go to another cleaner's farther away for the rest of his life
-He apparently did over 1000 hours of research on the legitimacy of his suit, and so he wanted to charge them lawyer fees for this research he did himself
Note he did not want a new pair of pants or a new suit. He wanted 54 million dollars. Hm.
Anyway, the judge threw out the case and forced the guy to pay for the family's legal and interpretor fees. Last I heard, they were going to try and take away his career as a judge (If he gets that bent out of shape about a pair of pants, how can he possibly handle prosecuting people?) but I'm not sure if they made any progress on it or not.
