Its not a tv remote, its a game controller. When was the last time you looked at a tv remote and said "This could be a game controller!"...........exactly. Taking things that are used for one purpose and giving them an entirely new purpose is innovative to me. Better than just shaping it like a banana and calling it a day. LOL

Actually the airline industry already uses a remote/controller for their flight entertainment stuff.

So it's nothing new in terms of design. The ease of use it's not, it feels really arkward, and generally bad, playing tetris is hard enough, give you cramps.

I'm gonna be the one on the soap box this time and say that i feel deep down that nintendo ostracized the half of their audience that was foolish enough to lobby behind them this current generation.

I'm at the point where I am seriously considering stopping caring, because after seeing FF:AC, all my faith i put into S-E was well founded. I can see why that movie took them a long time. It's better quality than Final Fantasy: Spirits within, it has a story that we give three shits about, and the action scenes and dramatic camera angles prove that it's high quality. Hell, when I see realistic reflections, it's the small details that make me ejaculate. . .

Point is, I'm just gonna close my eyes, go under my rock for the next few months and blindly support whoever SE puts their chips on. It's paid off for 8 years, and In that sense, good night.

I think fuz or kuu need a new soapbox anyway (j/k I love arguing with you guys.)

Actually there has never been a time that I thought a tv remote would be a good design for a controller. In general I never liked the idea of wireless controllers for games mostly because of the technology at the time was bad enough that there was some quite severe latency problems with the controllers to the game. Though the lastest upgrades to wireless functions for such type of use has improved that it's probably almost unnoticable of a difference between wired and wireless.

Either way though a tv remote for a controller, that's going to cause mental conditioning problems. I mean for some of my friends it's already bad enough that they can confuse a tv remote and cell phone, now to do it with a game controller too

This peripheral should put your fears to rest regarding "standard" games and ports. With this addon, the Revolution can make use of typical game control, while still keeping the unique motion-sensor style of gameplay.

Developers can, if they want, decide to control Revolution ports like they would any game they port to the Gamecube. However, it wouldn't be unlikely for many developers to alter and tweak games they bring to the Gamecube to make more use of the standard Revolution control design, and hope that the innovative style of gameplay brings in more money than the same game you could buy for your PS3 or X360.

Note that the actual standard controller-shell peripheral that was discussed by Nintendo may not actually look like that. While Nintendo has confirmed the device's existance, they have not disclosed anything else about it, especially what it looks like. The above image is simply a mockup done by IGN.

Simply put, either a 1st party or 3rd party accessory. Nothing more nothing less. Just like having a ps2 look-a-like for xbox. Sure they exist, but will developers program for it? Or even more annoying, should we buy it?

It's really unlikely that they will bundle it, and even worse, each player must have one of those too.

So if you buy a 2nd control you're have to buy an accessory with it, and if 4 people then you pay 8. You can see how problematic this can become.

Without some heavy handed accounting, the remote looks like the Rev playing style, for better or for worse.

Rotfl at you Xbox fanboys/girls. Microsoft lost money on every Xbox they sold. The ps3 nearly doubles the new Xbox360 in performance. Be patient and buy ps3.

Nonetheless, there are points to consider.

MS game division, never made a single cent on profit for anything xbox. It lost almost 5-6 bil on it actually if I remember right.

While it's good for the consumers in the short run (we would all love to have half priced computers), it is bad economically speaking as the world goes around.

Unless microsoft makes some money this gen around, it's going the way of dreamcast, or run their own company out of business. Though I suppose some would actually want MS to do that.

Sure the saying goes you need to spend money to make money, but you can only be in the red for so long.

We can't get them both and enjoy them both? Huh? I know I will be getting them both and enjoying them both. I'll be getting all 3 as soon as they are released. The staggered release dates help a LOT! I thought I was going to have to toss out some serious $$$ all at once! God bless competition! It sure is good for our gaming souls.

I luff t3h [0|\/|p3tI0|\|. 6 years ago we said how the market couldnt support 3 consoles. We were foools back then. But i dunno, it remains to be seen. Just wanted to say a quick didy b4 work. I'll elaborate later.

The market can't support 3 consoles in direct competition with eachother. That's how the Gamecube was crushed, and the reason for Nintendo's decisions with the Revolution. The admittedly inferior technological power, and the smaller and less intimidating console and price tag pretty much separate Nintendo from direct competition with Sony and Microsoft, as the Revolution will be seen to most hardcore gamers as a "secondary" next-gen console.

Nintendo knows the current power-war between Sony and Microsoft would destroy them if they continue to appeal to a different group than the others, but they're continuing to do so and making some good decisions around it.

I own both consoles.
Microsoft lacks game variation compared to the Playstion.
Just compare the specs and the result is a 'no-brainer'.

Though I adore quality games such as Halo + 1/2 Life.
