No kidding. I only see bits and pieces of that mess working for a company that does some government contracting work and if I had to work directly for the people who come up with that stuff I would nuts. It's not people saving space, it doesn't make communication easier(in fact it often makes it more difficult), and over half the time it's stupid fucks in management trying to make cute little word games out of their project. I literally saw someone come up with the acronym first and work backwards from there once. It was unbelievable.

See, that's not a problem in itself. Programmers have been doing this for decades. e.g. WINE (WINE Is Not an Emulator). The trick is that the acronym needs to be pronounceable.
