As a pleasant alternative to all the people in the other RL thread complaining that jobs are only found online these days, some interesting developments for me have occurred recently.

First, a mock interview I went to a couple weeks ago with Acuity, a fairly large national insurance company. This is the company that wins awards every year for their financial statements -- this year, they did it like a giant pop-up book, with every page a different fairy tale; in previous years they have had the entire board dress up as member of KISS, put the financial reports on a record cover and a silver record inside. This is the insurance company with a torture chamber that leads to a gift shop, and has been ranked as one of the best companies to work for in the entire US. In any case, had a wonderful interview, and the guy who did the interview was equally impressed with me. It was mock interview, but still.

Second, one of my teachers is going to work for Orion Energy -- if anyone remembers Obama visiting Wisconsin back in January, that's what he was here for, to visit them. He (my teacher) brought up the other day that he could have a job for me given my decent knowledge of computer languages and background in finance. Though, the job seems to be an IT job and I (will) have a degree in Accounting it's still quite possible; I need to chat a bit more with him before the end of the semester, but it could pan out into something real. Odd if I do get it, since I specifically went to school for Accounting over an IT major because I wanted to keep it a hobby and therefore not get tired of it.

Interesting stuff, and still goes to prove that it's not what you know, it's who you know, yeah?

Are you at least getting raking skillups?

Too bad it's not a main job skill for me.

At least the new rake I got a couple of weeks ago works better than my old one (which was starting to fall apart even after being repaired a few times). Nothing like a gear upgrade every now and then.

Had a couple pretty good Improv shows. Did some games I'd never done before during performances. Having good audiences always helps too.

My cat, Wolf, has had a few set-backs on his road to using the toilet. Think he's well on his way now. I ended up buying a kit called the Litter Kwitter and he's on stage 2. So, he's doing his business over a hole now. Learned earlier not to move to the next step too quickly so I'll give him a few more weeks of this, then next step.

Donated to Red Cross to support the Tsunami relief effort.

Took some small steps to finding a new job.
