I don't have a clue what level of tech savvy you have, but I know Cid, myself and a few others here on the forum can definitely help you to pick out components if you're considering building one.

Otherwise, the wife just bought me a laptop for Christmas/Birthday/Valentines Day that plays Skyrim and XIV really well. I can't play them on max settings, but I can easily play them both on standard. If you'd like I can link you to the actual model number. I think it was around $1,200 - $1,500.

But why would you drop $1500 on a laptop when you could put that money into a custom desktop that blows said laptop out of the water?

I don't understand you people and your fascination with laptops.

I'm still on Skype... you know my account. It's always on and my phone is always on me. You want call me names every day, that's your best bet. If you'd rather call me names in a public (online gaming) setting... then yes... I can probably help you to build a PC that can handle the XIV.

In all reality, when 2.0 comes out (whenever the fuck that is) it's going to have a much better engine that will allow rigs that can currently barely play the game play it decently... as well as letting rigs that run it fine as is run it at max settings. If you really do want to play XIV, hold out for 2.0 and whatever you're using right now should be sufficient. Worst case scenario, it'll give you plenty of time to gather up the funds needed to buy/build a new one.

You use a laptop currently, right?
