Ah. Well welcome to DiV. ^^
In the sub forums like this one it's not much of an issue but in the main forums, bumping old threads can draw the ire of the general populace.

Re: [GM]Dave's feelings on Manthras
Wow reading through this thread has certainly put a different spin on a lot of things.
I play as a female hume by the name of Ruuma even though I am a guy. This was because going through hundreds of names got tiresome and in the end i flicked through some anime DVDs for some minor character names hence the rather boring name and user picture on the left.
I was quite suprised how many take FFXI on face value, coming from someone who has been a long time on the Internet I take whatever anybody says with a pinch of salt.
There have been a few instances where people have said a few uncomfortable things to which i /tell them that im a guy and it stops and my linkshell all know because well...I'm an honest person. Reading through this though has made me think of starting from scratch but frankly *that* would just be such a pain particularly to my LS who have been completely amazing since I started a few months ago.
bleh..

I am printing that off and hanging it up in my office, I know a few other teachers who will get a good laugh out of that. Thank you for posting it, Dirtyclown.

Re: [GM]Dave's feelings on Manthras
Well, I once got into a similiar situation, where a person came to my house. But he basically just walked around my house looking for me, he didn't enter the backyard or anything. I didn't even know he was there untill late at night a woman from the neighbourhood came knocking at my door to tell me there was a strange person with weird accent from a certain country. I knew who it was, as he was saying online to me that he was coming just as tourist in the neighbourhood.. and the day after he told me, so there never really was any doubt.
Aside from that, as though it was scary and freaky, and definetely wrong of this person, I've known him for quite some time online, voice chatted and used webcam before. So in all honesty, I never really was in any danger, even if I'd let him in the house etc.
And on a sidenote. I know exactly where he lives as well. If i'd give his address to some friends I have, they'd get a group together and go pay him a visit.
Even aside from that, I've had about 9 years of different fighting sports experience, more training than actual battle, but it's happened more than once that I've successfully defended myself from men more than twice his size.. and i'm not even that muscular or tall nor have I had any self-defense classes, apart from the few in highschool.

I'm fine, it's been quite some time since that happened. I'm just less free with my actual name, and avoid having pictures online that I know of...

Re: [GM]Dave's feelings on Manthras
WOW, who knew there was all this going on? TGM Thanks for the eye-opener!!
With regards to the attentions of the hormonal and amorous.... my husband and I usually are always together in-game, unless we're crafting/farming/whatever. If we're doing missions or EXPing, we're together. For some reason having him there has kept things pleasant. Our LS's are full of nice folks too (and deliciously young and wide-eyed!! I'm learning whole new languages from their chats).
Being as we are both ex-military, and I spent years working in EMS for a decent sized city, believe me, there isn't much I haven't heard, or been called. Like TGM, I'm probably old enough to be some pencil-necks' mother as well as just NOT what he's looking for (unless his dream is me, in which case GET HELP!).

That is still quite frightening Nuriko and I'm sorry you had to endure that. I hope things are better for you now.
