Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
I am intrigued by this... I wonder how it would shake out in a court of law. I would think the valet would have some disclaimers that would still make you liable. Sucks...

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
Well being drunk alone is kinda meh, but with friends it's fun. I usually get drunk and play Minecraft with friends or if I am by myself I will drink and play Osu and see how badly the alcohol affects my HEC.
In other news, I got a parking ticket. Here's the kicker, I went to eat and the place I ate at, has valet parking. So the valet comes up, "Park your car?" "Sure." I hand him the keys, think nothing of it. Since they must have a nice lot for stuff like this, I go in and I eat, meet a few friends, have a good time. I come out, and I ask for my car. A different guy this time. So I'm like okay the other guy must have gone home or was on break. He pulls my car up, on the front of my damn car is a parking ticket. I look at the guy and he gives me this dumb look like "Don't blame me." So now I have to go deal with this in court and defend the fact that I used valet parking and I wasn't aware of where my car was being parked since I "was" told that they'd put it in the valet parking lot. I'm guessing that it was full and he tried to be sneaky and put my car some where it wouldn't be caught, but got caught anyways. -_-

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
I was thinking I might make the drive and take a day trip to Disney, since I have the annual pass and the boyfriend is going to be out of town. But getting really drunk also has its appeal and would save me some money, so I might just do that.

Yeah, something about his wife's son. I didn't get the full story because it's not really my business and I have nothing to do with his wife's family at all.

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
Well my dad called me today to let me know that he and his wife are not coming down for the holiday, as I'd originally planned. I had purchased tickets for the hockey game because my team will be in town, but literally no one else I know around here is going to be in town or available that day.
I'm actually really pissed off at my dad for waiting until the last minute to tell me this, and I'm also really mad at myself for caring enough about a stupid holiday I haven't celebrated in years to get this upset.

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
I think it's less frustrating that the course catalog didn't say it, than the professor didn't say that in any of the rubrics.
If I had known it would be part of the equation, I would have done some research or touched base with some of my other classmates to get some information to at least fake my way through it. That's what annoys me.
In the end, I still got an A, but I really hate when something like that shortchanges me.

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
Sounds more like a life lesson one should teach the kids: "Sometimes, you won't know what you need to know before you dive into things. And, no one would tell you about it, either."
Obviously, don't plan your curriculum that way. Or, maybe you should--life isn't a puzzle where all the pieces are already in the box, and the sooner the little tykes learn that the hard (but not harsh) way, the better.
My work sure ain't nicely laid out--over one hundred thousand lines of undocumented legacy code, hundreds of pages of near-unreadable standards, two competing backend packages to interface with--one no one here ever used before, and the dude who dealt with the other one left last year--and I'm supposed to add bunch of new features. Being asked to retrofit buildings for earthquake using duct tape would have been clearer. And easier. The plus side? I get paid more than fast food line workers.
So, if you want your kids grow up and become, say, programmers, engineers, scientists, entrepreneurs, or even politicians, I'd say some practice with sorting out a few minor information chaos would be a darn good idea. Or, they can always flip burgers or make me a taco when I go to lunch.

I think it's just a taste of what's to come, as a teacher. Prepare to be frustrated.

Re: What's your pet peeve in RL?
I'm going to preface this by saying that I still got an A in the class, but I'm really annoyed about the fact that I was graded on some elements that I need to have taken another class to know. I am supposed to be putting ESOL modifications into my lessons when I haven't taken ESOL yet, and the ESOL class is not a prerequisite for the class I took. Like nowhere in the course catalog does it say or even recommend taking that class before (or even concurrently with) this one, so how the fuck is it even remotely fair to grade me based on shit that I could only have known after taking that class?
And before I upload this critical assignment into the online portfolio thing that they force us to do, I have to fix this. Excuse me, but how the fuck am I supposed to fix this when I don't know how? I'm so frustrated.
I'm going to call the College of Ed tomorrow and figure out how I can file a complaint about this, I mean it's not the points on the assignments (though that does annoy me) but it's the principle, if they want you to add ESOL modifications to critical assignments in classes then they should probably make that a prerequisite to take those classes. This never should have happened this way.
