No, you don't let her decide, this is what being in a relationship is all about, compermise. My advice (lord knows, I need tons myself, so please dont' think i'm ranting on you just for the sake of it), is to sit down, and talk about it.

Don't attack her on her views, because then it's going ot come out neg. Be open minded, see where her feelings are. Don't turn it into a fight about when you can/can't play, just talk about it.

If that makes any sense, I hope it does. If she's so upset with it that she hates you playing them, then that tells me you spend mroe time ont he game, then you do paying attention to her. Please keep in mind that they are both, just a game, games can be replaced. Relationships, can not.

As a fellow addict, you need to decide what a reasonable amount of time for you to play during a day or during a week is, and when reasonable times are in relation to your other responsibilities and needs, like sleep. Then, when you're playing and you've reached that limit, actually stop. Usually I get to that point and go "Ok I'll just do this one more simple little thing real quick and then I'll log." No. "Real quick" and "simple" in FFXI are myths. You may not notice the time when you're riding that chocobo to the outpost you need or whatever, getting that last staging point, but while you were doing that 20 minutes vanished from your life. I know, it seems like it'll take just 5. It will not. Stop.

So now that I've put my own brain clutter on the table ... just be aware of the amount of time your spending and if there's anything possibly more important you should be doing at this moment instead. If there is or you've been playing for a pretty good stretch already, just put it down and come back later. It'll still be there.

A relationship is all about being together. But no healthy relationship spends 100% of their time together. You have to do your own thing. Which in your case, would be FFXI & Magic. So save them for whenever she's doing something that doesn't involve you (No, this doesn't include watching a chick flick that you're not interested in, but she wants you to sit through. Watch the damn movie.). If she's out with friends, doing something with one of her hobbies, etc., then it's safe to geek out.

Yu-Gi-Oh, Inu Yasha, DBZ, and Pokemon CCGs are not on the level of MTG, but I'll give them credit for trying.

So save them for whenever she's doing something that doesn't involve you (No, this doesn't include watching a chick flick that you're not interested in, but she wants you to sit through. Oh I'll geek out. And, I'll happily watch "chick" flicks. And do the dishes, and take out the trash, and cut the lawn, and pay for 80 % of the house, and do most of my own laundry, and clean for 1-2 hours on the weekends, and fix anything the breaks, and keep the cars in good condition, and treat her with respect/care/love. But, I don't think it will ever be good enough... FFXI treats me with respect, and I barely have to do anything! Scales are tipping my friender...

Started during the Mirage block, specifically weatherlight, and stopped shortly before the Urza block finished up. Dabbled a little bit in Mirrodin and Darksteel, primarily because I love artifact decks. I have, at last estimation, ~35,000 cards, which I'm currently working on organizing so I can sell them all as singles.

The only exception to the sale is my one Type I deck I keep (which is actually tourny illegal in every fashion because of a few choice banned cards from Exodus... namely Mind over Matter), and my pride and joy: a PSA grade 9 Alpha Mox Emerald, valued at around $800. Eventually I'd like to get the entire PSA-graded Alpha P9 set, but I might just settle for the moxes.

On a side note, as I organize my collection, I put it in an online database found at Essentialmagic.com, and sell through cardshark. If you're interested, my username in both is the same as it is here.

I haven't touched my MTG cards in forever (read: years), but I still have them, including a complete type I deck with a full set of good-to-near-mint condition Power 9.

Ice, I hate you. Have you sent them off to be graded, by chance? Even if they're only rated 7 or so (which is considered NM) of a scale of 10 (Mint Gem), it will roughly double the price of them, since they're encased in a tamper-proof plastic container. Though, they'll only grade cards (any cards) from Alpha, Beta, Unlimited (the prequel to the sucky edition set known as Revised, the two of which should NEVER be confused) and Arabian Nights.

And Evi, if you are interested, by all means check it out. Most of the stuff I have are crap commons/uncommons, I don't have many things like go for more than a buck. the Emerald is the most valuable card I have by a long shot. I know I used to own a Birds of Paradise and a Sliver Queen (the queen I got just after slivers came out), but I traded one and sold the other. Now that I actually know the market (and that slivers would come back in... what was it, Onslaught?), I really wish I wouldn't have.

I had a huge box of magic cards one of my cousins gave me, I tried playing, but it just didn't interest me. I got more into the YGO CCG, but tournaments were boring, and I lost interest in it just as quickly as I did the show. I still need to sell those cards, I could probably get something nice with that much cash...

I'm still trying to kick this damn game ugh. I'm finalizing my last R/U Jhoira deck and selling the rest on Ebay.

WotC has gotten enough of my money over the years, it's time to cut them off. My problem is I'm a "Johny" for those who know what the MTG personalities are (there's 5) so every time I see shiny new cards, or what's newly legal in standard *cough* tenth edition *cough* I get all excited with deck ideas... and then the money gets spent... and then I slap myself and cry for wasting my money.

Hehe. Timmy! Honestly, I only know of one, Timmy, due to Unhinged (Timmy: Power Gamer), but the rest allude me. Personally, I'm a fan of old-style. Type 1 and 1.5. Type 2 and block-set-of-the-day are just too... confusing. Give me phasing and "This creature is unaffected by summoning sickness". Screw "Haste" and "Fear" or whatever they're calling it now.

I just think the game went downhill right around the end of the Urzas block/beginning of the Mirrodin block, especially with the storyline leaving Dominaria.
