    Robotech.

I watched that show when i was like 5, then forgot about anime completely for the next 12 years.

Then one day the name Rick Hunter and Lisa Hayes pops into my head for some odd reason. And a picture of an old captian. One google search later i rediscover robotech and have been an anime fan ever since ^^

My first would have to be....Robotech!

Though, would anybody know if Speed Racer was an anime? If so, it was my first.

Yes, Speed Racer (AKA Mach Go Go! in Japan) was most definately an anime. :p

I used to watch that on cartoonnetwork way back in the day, Racer X what a big mystery, and the monkey and the kid eating tons of candy hiding in the trunk.
you are here alone again, in your sweet insanity
all to calm, you hide yourself from reality
do you call it solitude? do you call it liberty?
when all the world turns away to leave you lonely

The first Anime I saw was Voltron.(Not the disgusting 3d one) Definetly was a great series.(I was like 4 or 5 when I first saw it so if ya think it sucks, sorry ya don't share the nostalga)

But it was around 93 (I was 9 mind you) when I rented Tank Police. Very odd watching it back then since it was like no other cartoon I've seen. But in a good way cause the only cartoon I really watched was Sonic the hedgehog & Bucky O' Hare(I think was still on in 93. Man that show was cool)

Then I saw it on Sci-fi channel a few months later & got hooked on the Anime specials they showed on that channel.(Project Ako, Robot Carnival, Galaxy Express 999) When they came around to showing Record of Lodoss War(I almost thought it was a Zelda anime when I first saw Deedlit heh), I got more interested. Then I heard Slayers was supposed to be like a spoof on it. So since I saw Slayers I got more into anime & been into it since.

                  Soo it would either be:

Voltron, Tank Police, Record of Lodoss War, or Slayers

My family moved to Japan when I was 4 years old so my first anime was Doraemon back in 1982 . Other anime I remember from the 4 years I was there are: Hello Kitty, Lupin III, and Transformers. I'm sure there are others that I watched, but I don't remember them now.

I spent 6 years thinking I'd never see Japanese cartoons again, other than on my Betamax tapes . Then I got to see Bubblegum Crisis and was thrilled that cartoons like I saw in childhood were coming to the US.
