Cartoon Network to air *gasp* Eva?

And also, to those that want proof of that it will be airing, just go check the cartoon network TV schedule on their website and look on February 24 and 25 at the 4:30 slot. The first two episodes will be aired.

Owning the DVDs...they are a lot better in japanese. The American voice actors just...don't fit the roles. I much prefer to watch them with subtitles then in english.

I have to admit, airing Evangelion is a bold move into the genre of anime. IMO, Evangelion is one of the more darker anime series and isn't suitable for children who think anime is nothing more than DBZ and Pokemon.

Hmm . . . on the topic of religious symbols, I remembered that the Lance used by Asuka to pierce the Angel (attacking from space) is called the Longinus lance, aptly named after the same lance that pierces Christ on the cross. One of the more subtle references to Christian religion.

This is odd; CN doesn't do nearly all that in brazil... they also don't air that much anime... but They kept Mr. Satan's name, and all the gay stuff in card captors...

And there's a channel onsatellite [which I don't have ~~;] that's been airing EVA for quite a while now, I don't thin kit's cut... Don't see why, they play that fucked up MTV stuff liek Maxx and HEavy Metal, too...

*sighs* I think it's good that atleast some station is trying to put anime on american telivision.. but with all this editing I don't think many of the fans of these animes will watch... so in short.. cartoon network sucks and I've been boycotting cartoon network for just as long as Ryouga :mad:

Is you put Eva on toonami, all your going to see is a blank screen for 30 mins due to all the editing. I'm telling you, its not eva that your going to watch, its going to be even crapyer then what the did the Escalowne, and that was real !#$%!!:mad:

I didn't mind the english dub. Of course, I'm a huge fan of Spike Spencer, so that may have had something to do with it. I think Amanda Win Lee did a good job as Rei; she seemed to be able to capture the essence of the character very well, especially in her most important scenes. I actually preferred Tristan McAvery as Gendo over the Japanese voice. For some strange reason. I just think he's got a cool voice.

The other voice actors weren't poor, except for that of Maya. Sounded to masculine to be a character so cute looking.

I do have to say that the replacement voice casting for Death and Rebirth and The End of Evangelion was horrible.

By the way, I just have a question. How many other people here prefer buying the DVDs of an anime series rather than downloading the episodes? I just find it to be wrong. Plus, I'd rather have it as part of my collection, so I can really say I'm a true fan of the animator.

I like buying the DVDs over downloading it.. If you download it, it is most likely poor quality and possibly horrible subs... I would definitely buy the DVDs over downloading.. but I don't have money :dead: :sweat:

If its something new, Ill download a few episodes, if I like it and its good, Ill buy it on DVD...though that may start to change as money begins to get sparse.

Fushigi Yuugi is godlike. I love that series soo much. Especially Chichiri.
Himura Kenshin is grand as hell. That series is old, but is hella good. I love the storyline.
As for Eva, I dun really mind it, but compared to some of the other animes like Komodo No Omatcha, and I want to be an Angel ( Dun know the jap name for it ), Eva is good.
Well, enough talking from me.

Poor quality and horrible subs? What anime have you downloaded. Downloaded anime has been DVD quality since at least mid 2000 and I often times prefer the groups fansubbing over the subs they have when they release it after it's licensed.

Anyway, I've still never seen Evangelion so I wouldn't care if Cartoon Network showed it, but I'd prefer if it was on Adult Swim. They could take out Cowboy Bebop or Lupin III to add that. I don't even know what they were thinking when they decided to add Lupin III...
