Re: The Version Update Is Here! (12/07/2010)

When I activated my Taipan Fangs +2 trial, it was 15 Snow Geodes. I can't see them being anything other than items...

But, I think I like this better than having my pet kill a bunch of mobs in particular weather. Of course, this all depends on how you GET the geodes.

Geodes are not only items, they are AHable items. Which probably means they're going to be 100k for the next few weeks at least as a zillion people try to complete their next trial stage before everyone else does.

I only hope the drop rate is high enough that they will settle down to the 5-10k range (or you'll be able to farm them yourself with a level 90 char) eventually.
Defeated: Maat, Divine Might, Fenrir, Kirin, Cactrot Rapido, Xolotl, Diabolos Prime, Kurrea, 9/10 Dynamis Bosses (missing Tav), Promathia, Proto-Ultima, Proto-Omega, 4 Jailers, Apocalypse Nigh, 6/6 Nyzul Bosses

Re: The Version Update Is Here! (12/07/2010)

Apparently the "official" fix for the PS2 problems is a clean unstall. Unfortunately I found out that the optical drive on the PS2 I've been using won't even notice that I've inserted a disc.

That means I'll have to drop the hard drive into another PS2, which means a re-install (because the HD install is keyed to a specific console). But I have to re-install anyhow, so yeah. Good thing I recently got my screen shots off of it and saved macros to the server.

Meanwhile, I'm trying to upgrade my old video player PC from 2K to XP. My old boat anchor TV died, and now that I'm not stuck with 640x480, it's worth trying to install the PC version. Of course that means that I have to download a LOT more than the usual update. I left it running last night, starting with 20000+ files, found it not running this morning, but restarted at 5000+ files and 9+ hours left.

Geodes (to me at least) seem like BS/KS seals. I was killing buzzflys in Aby-Mis last night and got 2 snow geodes on Ice day. A LS member mentioned he got a soil one off lesser colibri in Wajam Woods and it was earth day when I checked. Also heard claims of getting soil in earth weather (but not day).

Also, I kinda like how they incorporated new Atmas with past things you’ve completed (such as 100 nyzul, assaults, Kirin, Proto Omega/Ultima…etc). although it makes me realize how many things I’ve yet to do…

One good thing about only being able to play on the weekends and update happening early in the week: I don't have to settle for incomplete information. Normally by the time I can play, a lot of things have been figured out, so I don't have to mess with it.

I'm still waiting for the wiki to catch up and have the list of all new things... normally it's up by now.

Edit: nevermind, the link was hiding from me.

Re: The Version Update Is Here! (12/07/2010)

I’ve been skimming through BG and doing my own running around.
Here’s some random stuff I was seeing.

(Malactie Studies BG hard core so he can probably confirm or deny some of these.)

                --Abyssea related--
                Can buy more Atmas
In Vision – Atmas from killing HNMs Kills (Kirin, Omega…etc)
In Scars – Atmas from Mission completions (Nation, CoP, ToaU…etc)
In Heroes – Atmas from Other achievements (100 nyzul, Assaults…etc).

Aby – Ul maw is in Xarc
Aby – Alpt maw is in South Gust
Aby – Grau maw is in North Gust (right side)
(May have mixed the North and South zones up)

Dominion – Seems like somewhat of an Abyssea style Fields of Valor from what I read. Haven’t tried it yet.
Can get Bodies I think with that currency. Seeing 2-4k xp rewards + some currency upon completing. Possibly even seals…but not sure.
Also, I think you can spam them oppose to only 1 a game day.

Emp Hands are 25k Curor spread out between the 3 areas

NMs in Abyssea – Mis have repopping pretty fast. Saw the Frog NM up a couple times in the 2 hours I was there. Also saw the Peiste NM up a few times. (Both pretty much claimed right away iirc.)

Capped Amber lights in Aby-Mis but didn’t see many gold chests while Feet farming so can’t really confirm on that increase. Although there were only 2 of us (Bst & Pup). Killed 4 Murexs for Amber, then killed DC flies for about 60 minutes. 2 gold chests, bunch of blu chests and couple red. Didn’t get much pearl light and got up to about 50% azure lights (750 xp in chests).

Inside the new Abysseas, the Conflux 1 cost 600 curor to open and there is no 00 iirc.

                --Other stuff--
Limit Break quest - Need 5 Merits, 10 Kindred Crests and play/win a Rock/Paper/Scissor game with Maat and Maat’s green look-a-like. Can be annoying and long cause theres a CS every selection ><.

My Oa2-3x axe now has 1 more trial. 700 demon type mobs. Turns into Oa 2-4x. Forgot to see if DMG increases. Also becomes lvl 90 (obviously)

All my pet ToM weapons require 15 geodes of the specific element (-pdt Earth, MAB ice…etc)
Geodes (in my experience) have been dropping off DC+ mobs. Element depends on day and possibly weather (ie soil on earth day, Snow on ice day).

Emote quests are from Moogle in jeuno by the others. Easy fletch quest from what I hear. I think you can be any job and quest any emote as long as you have the job 30+ (not 100% sure). Works like ToM. Very easy from what I hear.

---------- Post added at 10:57 AM ---------- Previous post was at 10:50 AM ----------

                --Little edit--
I think last update, all ToMs got 2 new trials. This time they only got 1 (so now it will be xxx axe +2)

Little more on the job emotes.
Very easy so far. Haven’t check them all though.

Basically, talk to new moogle. Get neck piece and start trial. Get r/e item from lolmob. Trade item to box. Trade neck to Moogle. Enjoy emote.
Bst took me all but 5 minutes (dropped on first mob I killed).

                  Bst = Wild Rabbit Tail
Blm = Magik Skull (subjob item iirc)
Not sure what the smn item is but if it’s carbuncle’s ruby…I’ll probably cry.
To use them it’s /jobemote bst

Oh, one last thing. I’m pretty sure for most jobs once you compete the trial, the neck piece is trash. But Bst’s had Pet+3 atk/Ratk…which can come in handy till you get Ferine neck from Yannie….

Re: The Version Update Is Here! (12/07/2010)

So, my reactions to individual items found in the .DATs:

                    H. Kindred Crest - lolol

Twilight Knife - DMG 40 times Delay 190 plus 3% "Quadruple Attack" plus HP, MP and TP Drain = only reason to level Dagger skill.

Chimeric Fleuret - Looks kind of interesting, but unfortunately I hold a bias against rapiers. Also: Mageblade and Runic Anelace? Where are all these mage-swords coming from all of a sudden, and why haven't they come sooner? (S-E must have that hindsight superhero from South Park on their dev team for their quirk to put out awesome stuff that would've been more awesome five years ago.)

Aegis and G-horn - so these are the trials that have been promised for those. Shame there aren't more Magian Shield Trials for the rest of us. And the horn gets +3 to All Songs at 90, and all is right with the world. Also, did I just see a very good harp that, among other things, granted an additional song effect?

Zelus Tiara - Evasion -5 Haste +8%. Full stop.

Mederi Talar Set - a bunch of EX stuff here. Are we finally getting Magian Armor Trials? I had better be able to at least pull something non-Magey out of here, I swear . . . but then again, Morrigan's Robe is now easier to make, and actually compliments the

Estoqueur's Sayon +2 - Warlock's Tabard (heck, pretty much any other Enfeebling body), you are officially and simultaneously both out-performed and out-pimped. Not only does this stylish red armor with golden fur trim ensure your Enfeebles not only find their target, but also do so in a very potent fashion, all while not missing a beat of Refreshment when switching between this for spellcasting and Morrigan's robe for swordsmanship (though, in all likelihood, you're probably better off using the 4% Haste from the Goliard Saio, but that's beside the point). DEF:52 INT +12 MND +12 Magic Accuracy +10 Adds "Refresh" effect Enhances enfeebling magic effect Set: Augments "Composure"

Twilight Cloak - Cannot Equip Headgear DEF:51 MP+75 MAB+15 Enmity -15 Able to cast "Impact" . . . er, what, exactly, is Impact?

Estoqueur's Gantherot's +2 - I think S-E's 6/6 here on my "Is that a real word?" scoreboard. Anyway, as well as matching the "Savon" in form, they also match in function: DEF:22 MND +6 Magic Accuracy +7 Enfeebling Magic Skill +15 Enhances "Saboteur" effect Set: Augments "Composure." At this point, with Enfeebling Magic Accuracy up the wazoo, I question just how worthwhile and investment a Magic Accuracy Magian Sword is, as opposed to simply one for straight-damage . . .

                    Race-Specific Gages - . . . interesting . . .

Haven Hose - Enhances "Stoneskin" effect is always kinda awesome.

Portent Pants - Enhancing and Enfeebling (and Dark) Magic skills +15. We just replaced Nashira Seraweels and Warlock's Tights in one fell swoop. Full stop.

Blank Level 30 EX Artifact-named Torques - Obvious link to the Emote Trials.

                    Magoraga Beads - AGI +2 "Utsusemi" spellcasting time -10% . . .

Twilight Torque - straight-up Damage Taken -5%. Man, these Twilight-named items are looking to be kinda powerful . . .

                    Siegel Sash - DEF:5 Enhances "Stoneskin" effect (OMG A SECOND ONE . . .) Enhancing Magic spellcasting time -8% (. . . /nerdgasm)

Estoqueur's Earring - Magic Accuracy + 3 Enhances "Fast Cast" effect . . . not likely to be worth anyone's time if the Fast Cast is on the same level as the lolquacious Earring.

                    Hecate's Earring - un-Moldy'd Earring.

                    Epona's Ring - "Double Attack" +3% "Triple Attack" +3% . . . only item on this list that RDM can't use. But do want. ;_;

-soul Rings - There are probably people out there with very good reason to wear double-Pyrosoul Rings.

Adloquium - In case there was ANY DOUBT WHATSOEVER that Scholar was getting a lot of love this update, how about the fact that "Adloquium" apparently translates to Regain?

Miwagari: Ichi - Ninja's answer to Paladin's Fealty?

                    . . . so, yeah, barring a distinct lack of Fencer for Red Mage, I am not unimpressed by this update. I just at least hope they fixed that issue where Almace was raping every other Sword, including Excalibur. >.> Not exactly interested in wielding a gaudy blue airplane if I'm looking for outstanding damage output, ya know. v_v;

Dude. White Mages are better than freaking Red Mages now. Seriously!

And in light of that, I literally cannot ask for anything else for my job other than Fencer, if S-E ever stops being such a tease about it. And then I'll be like "JOB IS COMPLETE GUYS, CARRY ON. MAYBE ENSPELLS III FOR OUR LEVEL 99 MERITS, BUT SERIOUSLY: WE'RE COOL NOW."

And I'm nowhere near the only one with that opinion. First of all, from where are you pulling 19%?

Secondly, /DNC already gives us Dual Wield:

                    Step 1) Dual Wield
                    Step 2) Composure-Enspell II
                    Step 3) Haste Samba
                    Step 4) Profit

Otherwise, I have to agree. RDM really doesn't need or even want much more at this point, like I said earlier. (THOUGH NATIVE FENCER WOULD BE NICE, HINT-HINT.)

I am kind of sad, however, that /PLD is really losing some of its uniqueness at the higher levels. (Flash from /WHM at 90, Shield Mastery native at 87 . . . how the heck does an F in Shield get us Shield Mastery, but B's in two one-handed weapons not get us Fencer??) Here's at least hoping whatever changes they are planning for Cover will at least remain subbable, as well . . .

Give RDM Fencer and at least C- parrying skill like WAR.

And if they really insist on adding crap like Shield Mastery then they need to make it so it gives you TP for blocking (even if it's only 1TP), instead of enhancing TP gain from damage taken.

Bonus: C rank Shield skill for RDM, C+ for Beastmaster.

What good is Shield Mastery if you are never taking any damage? Specially now that Aquaveil works better against tougher mobs that used to interrupt you 100%.

And yes I know they are just trolling us with this crap.

So I'm looking at the new Porter Moogles, and perhaps I'm misunderstanding.

You buy a Slip, one of 11, for 1k each. Said slip allows you to store... one piece of equipment? What's the benefit of that? Since they're rare/ex, you'd only be able to store ONE piece of equipment, but you're not gaining any inventory space in doing so... so why would you not want to have the gear available to you?

Supposedly, one can store multiple pieces for each slip (as in you can store EVERY PIECE that slip allows at the same time, if so desire), but I ran off to key item farming with LS before I had a chance to try it.
