Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
I guess disappointment is a consequence of letting the hype get to you.
Even so, I'm disappointed that the new dungeon drops loot from an old dungeon. It does include two chests that drop accessories, instead of one, which will be well appreciated. I've only gotten half-way through it, due to that issue with being unable to find a new member after kicking one, but it wasn't very difficult. We wiped to the two bosses we encountered once apiece. Cool? Yes, but it doesn't change the stagnant end-game.
I'm disappointed that PvP is such a bust. Mages are handed a fuck-you debuff, which we can upgrade to a screw-you debuff once we've grinded through a handful of matches and can afford some of the PvP-exclusive abilities. Even at that point I don't think it's going to provide a fulfilling competitive experience. I think they're experimenting for the most part, which I'm fine with, but I think I expected more from their first draft.
I haven't had a chance to check out the Crystal Tower. It might be what end-game needs, but I don't think it will be. Bahamut's Coil is still for people who don't mind listening to children who can't type fast enough scream commands over VOIP.
Right now there's nothing that's keeping me subscribed.

- Getting PvP gear is a grindfest. You get 50 Comms for a win and you need 2-4k for ONE piece of gear.
- Summoners are pretty ridiculously overpowered since Miasma and Storm's Eye STACK, and Ifrit/Titan can keep a caster locked down indefinitely.
- Good luck kiting a competent Dragoon. The animation lock was the only thing making them kitable in Beta.
- The whole thing is massively biased towards melee classes, especially since taking ANY damage whatsoever interrupts your spellcasting, and all of the mages have long cast times.
- Paladin, Summonerx2 or Summoner and Bard, SCH is pretty much guaranteed to destroy everything in sight.
- As soon as people get Purge, Sleep becomes more or less useless as sustaining it once the two teams are in melee isn't possible with all the stunlocking and interrupts.
- Everything is over in less than a minute. You spend longer staring at the gate at the beginning of the fight, waiting for it to open up than you do fighting.
- White Mages are unkillable until their mana runs out
Overall, this update is very disappointing.

Couldn't find a new member through the duty finder...

Fantasy Earth: Zero was the name of the game you are talking about. This game is no longer running outside of Japan and it was also released in China as well as Taiwan.Originally posted by Takelli View PostDidn't SE release a game quite a while ago that was centered around just pure pvp?
I can't quite remember the name though. It was released in Japan only, then in the NA, then was pulled because it failed.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
I only had time to play one round before I had to leave for work, so my observations are limited.
- Nobody dies quickly, even the healers who are traditionally easy targets.
- Heals aren't difficult when under duress and are very powerful.
- There's a lot of moving around and crowd control doesn't change this. Sleep is the big exception here.
- The arena is small, but there are multiple ways to break line of sight.
- This isn't a mode with a lot of strategic or competitive potential. It certainly wont be the next e-sport.
I don't believe they have enough experience with competitive games to create their own competitive mode. I think this is the bare minimum for players killing other players, which leaves a lot to be desired.

Warriors were pretty useless in the Wolf's Den this morning. The opposing warrior was the last to die, sure, but he wasn't dangerous.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
PvP is also probably the main reason they nerfed Inner Beast so damn hard - a 300% lifesteal attack would just make them unstoppable (they already have ridiculous HP). Seriously I feel like WAR is going to be far, far scarier than PLD or even other melee in PvP because of their HP, Vengeance and Holmgang.
And how does the allagan weapons being buffed 5 levels make up for a 10% dps loss, especially in the lower levels? When I was first leveling ACN thunder dramatically increased my damage.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
People crying over the removal of Thunder do not take into account the extra damage pets will be getting due to the Allagan buffs.
Bad players and whiners will always scream and bitch before any testing can be done. Then they will just ignore all the data because they are simply bad at SMN.
Plus letting SMN keep Thunder will make them a nightmare in PvP. Throw up all the DoTs, Sleep and GG.

Re: What's your pet-peeve in FFXIV: ARR?
I've never had a problem maintaining my rotations on SMN while mixing in thunder. lame nerf is lame.
of course I main DRG now so... meh. I don't really like SMN anyway tbh - never thought I'd actually prefer XI's version with it's broken design.

Paladin still has no self heal that is of any use....
I do really like the ability to scroll through the hate list. This will make tanking so much easier when you lose hate. So much easier than trying to select it with the left and right on the d-pad
