Seriously, people need to stop thinking they have some kind of free VIP pass to the game. Squeenix doesn't care about you grinding in the beta, they want you grinding away in the retail version. They are stalling progress for the beta to stop people from grinding all the way to the level cap and thus experiencing most of the game's content without having to pay for the fucking game.

It's not a conspiracy against hardcore gamers.

It's not pandering to the casuals.

It's not the death knell of the game.

It's almost certain that the fatigue system will be gone for the retail version.

Squeenix just want money. How the fuck can they make money from you if you're at endgame before the game even finishes? And if you're at endgame, well done. Now you have to wait for the community to reach PL50/CL50 just so you can play endgame content.

My opinion is that if people are leveling too quick, simply lower the experience mobs give, or increase the amount of exp needed to level. Don't penalize people for spending too much time leveling. If the exp to level ratios are spot on, it shouldn't be a concern anway.

Agreed, there are ways to deal with this that would be acceptable to both casual and avid players.

Am I the only one who thinks they they put this system in place to stop beta players from getting a stupidly unfair headstart over retail players by doing nothing but grinding and that it will probably be removed for the retail version?

you do know all data in the beta version is being wiped right?

This is what I've read:

1) Your data will be wiped
2) You will be able to backup your character's appearance so you can use the same character model but all levels, inventory, etc will be wiped.
3) You will be able to carry over your beta name as long as you create your character on the same server.

So putting a system in place just so the beta people can't level too fast sounds like an awful lot of work for something when there is a level cap in place.
