Alright, yo, here da dealio...

To perhaps put an end to all this talk of which subjobs "work," I've decided to conduct a poll. It's very simple... just list any subjobs for White Mage that you deem "acceptable," and in the end, I'll compile a list of job/sub combos that are considered acceptable by the people on these boards. If someone asks about a certain combo, you can refer them there if you like.

How you pick the combos doesn't matter. You can choose combos based on what you would play, whether or not you would invite a character with that combo into your PT, draw names from a hat, or whatever... it's your prerogative.

Combos that recieve a certain number of votes (undecided for now) will be listed and ranked according to popularity of vote.

Crossposting this to every forum in an attempt to get consensus on this topic is not going to get you anywhere.

A few things to note:

- Asking us to repost things we've already covered... multiple times... in many posts... is both rude and lazy. There are dozens of threads in every race/job combo forum here at FFXI that discuss pros/cons of various subjobs. I know for a fact that I have personally written/contributed to several threads regarding specificially this topic here in the white mage forum, and I'm not the only one. Maybe instead of spending your energy typing !!!'s, you could instead redirect it towards using the Search button instead.

- The topic of which subjobs are appropriate is largely dependent on the level range you're talking about. I personally feel that /SMN, /RDM, /BLM are by far the best end-game subjobs for white mages at level 75, but not all subjobs are appropriate at every level (/SMN, for instance, is just horrible until WHM50/SMN25+). The same holds true for every job regarding the most effective subjobs at various levels.

- You have a bad habit of overpunctuating your sentences. The title for this topic looks like it was written by a 9 year old. This is not going to be the sort of thread that people are going to be looking for sensible advice in. If you're looking for serious responses to your (otherwise sensible) request, you're starting off on the wrong foot.

This topic (and all its clones on the other forums) should be immediately closed.

Ice, you may disagree with the premise and gaol of this thread, etc., but that's no excuse to be preachy, sanctimonious, and patronizing in your tone. I think this person's intent was good. Even exceptionally good. I'm not sure I agree with the idea either, and yes, there is extensive information on the subject already, but you should probably consider apologizing for your unjustifiably accusatory tone.

It doesn't make for a nice atmosphere on this forum, where everyone's ideas and contributions are welcome.

If you can wade through that thread (the original source for this thread, and 15 others like it on every other race/job forum here) and honestly tell me that I'm being "unjustifiably accusatory", then so be it. The original post is a poorly disguised spam/trolling attempt - nothing more. The original poster is only interested in getting attention, not having a meaningful discussion. I'll start treating him with due respect when he shows the same.

Valerathon, just in case you weren't here for the whole fiasco, here is some background story. The poster originally went and challenged a moderator's sticky thread in an offensive manner. After various people argued with him and some insults were exchanged, he went on and spammed this thread in across the boards.

I think TBoTB later removed some of the threads and posted a sticky on eeach board to prevent this from going on any further.

Personally, when I see someone using handles such as "
Ipwnzuall!!!111", "IR1337!!11!", I take what they have to say with a big, giant chunk of salt.

i'm going to have to agree w/ ice because i am also outraged by this particular poster. as icey said, copy and posting the same thing to every forum only changing the job. when EVERY FORUM has a sticky at the top is just lazy, rude, ignorant, and just plain stupid.

secondly whatever gave you the idea that useing some 1337 hacker name as your user id should be flushed down the toilet and stray away from whatever dealer gave u that stuff. that combined with the way u presented yourself and lack of accually using words

Research is a wonderful thing. If you aren't willing to verify the results, how are you going to tell which opinions are informed, and which ones aren't?

I'd rather just do this quick and painless.

Translation: "I'm too lazy to do the research myself, so please waste your time regurgitating the stuff that is already posted so I can compile information that I don't personally understand, and post my flawed interpretation of the results so I can look important to satisfy my ego."

This guy is nothing more then a jerk and a 9 year old who claims to be an elite and have high iq, from his post, he's nothing more then .... it's really quite hard to describe his horrific manner

he could've typed up his guides in a day or two if he spends about 3hrs searching and reading all the msgs in each forum, ALL THHE INFORMATION has been said and said again, there's no point for another thread to discuss what's been said again and again, go look in each msg forum, and read the main Race discussion thread to know more about this guy.

i went through some of the other threads like this one started by him where nobody knew of this guy and actually responded to him, it's nothing more then messy arguements about job combos, of which Sheila's post was trying to prevent with her sticky,

Actually he's just reacting to Sheila's sticky, he made some big deal out of it in the Race+job type discussions forum, and now he's given us the "pleasure" of spamming every single freaking job forum.

At first I was just kinda pissed because his threads were inherently stupid and self defeating (he said himself that he doesn't care if we "draw subjobs from a hat", he definitely doesn't care about "validity" or anything).

But now I realize he is just an immature kid whose pride was hurt when he read Sheila's post, and wants to make some kind of "point" to the extent of, "WOW LOOK AT ALL THE PEOPLE WHO ARE PLAYING NON COOKIE CUTTER JOBS!!!"

These 13+ threads add nothing constructive:
1) They do not ask for any valid claims for why certain subjobs are useful or not.
2) They repeat the same question that has been asked 100+ times in every board, some of which are even stickied. There's a freakin search button, you lazy sloth.
3) These threads will not benefit ANYONE. He is not doing this to benefit anyone, as he is not even going to attempt to verify the suggestions and claims people make. For all we know, he is some level 10 no-subjob THF, how is he going to verify any of this? Should a person with such limited knowledge of the game even attempt to make a guide for others?
4) If he needs advice, then see #2... use the search button. Don't spam the threads.

I already reported the thread in the PLD forums. I hope the Mods will do something appropriate... say, close every stinking one of these spammalicious threads and send the poster a warning. I was thinkin about reporting every one of these stupid threads but I don't want to spam the mods... I trust they know what to do.
