The SAM quest is easy. Both monsters you fight can easily be taken down by a half-decent PT of 32-38's. The hardest part of the quest is actually Getting to and from Norg in Kahzam. :sweat:

Has anyone soloed the Samurai quest? I know it sounds odd, but hey, it's still possible. I've never partied before because I've always been told not to: "Don't PT until you're at least lvl 15 blah blah blah"

I'm lvl 12 right now . . . and it's kind of fun fighting, but it takes forever to heal. Anyways . . . Soloing on the SAM quest???

well i completed the quest with 8 people in alliance lvl's 30-31... some deleveled and the hardest part was actually the tree not including the part to get to norg ( just use silent oil at grotto) the tree was fairly easy for 8 people using their 2hrs.. at the end of the battle with the tree everyone had their health in WHITE with exception to a couple in YELLOW...

anyways.. i would have to guess that a lvl 50+ give or take a few lvls can solo the quest

Weighing in on this for reference, not boasting:

SAM quest completed for five people in a five-person party, all level 30 except one 34 BLM. Party makeup was PLD/WHM/BLM/BLM/MNK.

Forger had to die five times, we did it without any deaths. First time we weren't sure and the MNK used his 2hr, causing Forger to, well, pop like a balloon. Second time our WHM panicked and used Bene, prompting my Invincibility, but other than that nada. Three more kills went smoothly, except for a Ghost that kept spawning on us and preventing us from using -agas to kill him that much faster. Oh, and Barfira was nice.

Getting to the Treant was a breeze. Just rode northeast to the outpost and east to the tree. The fight was even easier than Forger, because we just had to do it once and he wasn't hitting as hard. The tricker part was the three DC/Tough goblins that we had to clear out before we summoned the treant. :p

Granted, we were a LS party and everyone was fairly competent, but I saw nothing to the fights that couldn't be handled by a party with a decent tank, a healer, and 2-4 damage dealers. We're not at all uber, not at all skilled (no food and we didn't even skillchain on the thing, even though I'm sure with the monk and myself we could've done a liquification chain or something on Forger and gotten a double MB, but like I said, we're not that good), we just tried it to see how it would go, and were overwhelmed by how easy it was. This quest is perfectly workable at lv30 with 5-6 people, more if you have a "bad mix" (i.e. too many healers, no tanks, no damage-dealers, etc.).

Given that, I'd say doing the quest at lv30 isn't really much of an accomplishment. Okay, it's harder than Ranger or Bard. Whoopdee-doo. It's still not very hard. The leeches for Ninja were harder than that, because of all the Thread Leeches to clear out and the fact that there are three of them. My advice is not to get together a big alliance for the SAM quest, because it will be more bureaucracy than it's worth. Find four to five competent people, make sure you have at least one healer and tank, and go kill yourself some NMs. If you're really unsure, burn a 2hr. One of our BLMs never used his 2hr, and the other blew it on the Treant just for fun. And if we'd waited a little longer to go to Zi'tah, we'd have all had our 2hrs back and wasted the piney bastard. Just treat it like you would treat an exp fight against ITs.

Lol i didn't read through most of the elitist versus noobs shyt buuuut. . . .Sure the NMs are cake - for certain conditions. The real hard part was getting around. I want to see you guys try it back when you couldn't ride chocobos through zi'tah or yhoto's jungle. Believe me it wasn't a cake walk for level 30s. 60+ sure but not 30s.

I've crossed both zones alive and on foot. So I suspect I could pull it off. Leading four other people who seem to have no concept of goblin line-of-sight... yeah, that would probably be a difficult affair.

Though to be fair, 90% of the nasty stuff we saw in Zi'tah was either not aggressive towards us or merely Tough or thereabouts. We could sneak through most of it and invis past gobs, killing them if we had to... chocos sure made it easier though.

It's not. Those skillchains are lv3 and not accessible until the lv225 Weapon Skills.

I solo'ed it as 50rdm/25thf, and both fights were a cakewalk. I'm thinking a lvl-45 might be able to solo it as well, but of course different jobs have different levels of solo ability.

This has to be the funniest post ive read in a long time, and all you people with nothing nice to say should probly go play a less social game cause with attitudes like that you would soo get kicked out of my PT! as for you guys who did the quest bravo good job thanks for the info.

1 more thing... NVM dont want to stoop down to all the 6 year olds level that post on these forums. Ill just say this be glad pvp isnt around cause I have a link with 60+ people that would love to own all you with bad attitudes, We already have a list and it gets longer by the day =P
