    Re: rdm/nin /sigh

than rdm/blm is not going to be looked down upon if i do not have nin or drk lvl'd?
personally the job that fits me after rdm and blm is mnk and sam i dont really want to spend too too much money or time on lvling a job that i do not like. IMO rdm/blm is the best thing ive tried so far in FFXI and i love it.

In XP parties, the commonly accepted subs for RDM are /BLM, /WHM, /BRD. Other subs will get you some raised eyebrows and probably some questions about your choice of subjob.

For end-game (level 74+), /DRK, /WHM, /BLM, /NIN, /SMN, /BRD and probably /BLU and /COR are acceptable in various roles, depending on what you want to do, but again, you'll get questions about your choice of subjob if you show up with an inappropriate subjob at any given event.

I actually recommend Nin as a Sub..It has proven very helpful in certain situations..Plus its great to farm NM's and HNM Parties also its great for COP doing those Mammets....With Nin sub I have been able to tank some of the WSNM for my LS quite efficeintly...Haveing those Shadows is a very good asset at times...Its the reason why if you ask Rdm/Nin= Impossable to Gauge Rdm...

I think you're agitating over leveling NIN too much, Reaperx. Give it a try, you might like it. I felt the same about levling DRK, but once I got to about level twelve, it really started to grow on me. I've come to the point where I'm eager to jump on DRK and level, the damage I do with my scythe brings a smile to my face. I'm leveling my WHM soon(finally, some might say), and lemme tell you, I LOATHE main healing. But the idea of playing such a coveted job, and getting invites, I'm eager to give it a go.

In my mind, NIN is played much like RDM. Both bear elemental attacks, both have enhancing spells, both get a form a blink, and both use enfeebles on the opponent. You might think of NIN as the melee-oriented version of RDM. Granted, I had the least fun when I was expecteted to tank on NIN(a NIN before Utsusemi: Ni is in NO WAY a tank, I firmly believe this), but beyond that aspect, NIN(non-tank), plays much like early RDM. It might even seem familiar.

My point is, don't worry about it so much. Try it, and you might like it. You might even find that your play style wasn't what you thought. Who knows, you may even decide to take on NIN as main!

...even though RDM still > all.

im not biased against nin, by no means they are a powerful job. but the money requirement to fund the job is a large amout that i really wouldnt want to put in it. i mean its like a mil right out the door because of utsuemi =(

You can quest all the ninja scrolls you'll need except Utsusemi: Ni, and you don't need that until RDM74.

The tools for leveling are still pretty expensive if you don't have a good stream of income. Especially if you actually do the job well and use your debuffs.

Don't bother leveling NIN up just as a sub for RDM unless you plan on taking RDM to at least 74. Before that, it's not great by any means, you're better off with something like /BLU for Cocoon if you have to solo.

Thf is pretty fun to play once you get SA. Even more fun with TA.
At some point in game you'll really love treasure hunter so having a 15+ thf isn't all that bad after all.

Rdm/drk is very conditional in endgame. Only certain times will it be needed. The majority of the time I'm on rdm/blm, second would be rdm/whm, and on a rare occasion rdm/drk or rdm/nin. Usually rdm/drk is for stunning. Chainspell + Stun is very powerful against certain mobs that may manafont or some other nasty thing. But using Chainspell + Stun generates a LOT of hate too, which often times equals death. LOL

                          Re: rdm/nin /sigh

if you don't want to level ninja yet, then don't. you won't need it for xp parties anyway. ever.

At most, you may want to level it if you decide to enter an hnmls. But, if you decide to enter an hnmls, then you'll end up having to do a lot of things you don't want to do, and you'll want to max out your character for it.

levelling a ninja sub right now is NOT your highest priority.
