Re: *screams!*
I'm actually suprised at some of these responses... It seems that Red Mage really has become just about 'Dispensing Refreshes and Dispels' to a large majority of Red Mages.
The way I see it, beating maat is damn nessisary if you want to consider yourself a skilled Red Mage. Any fool can write a macro for RDM that just 'dispenses' Refreshes and Hastes. But being a Red Mage gives you access to more than three spells. Most of them could make a huge impact on the party's performance if used properly. Knowing when to use what and being able to decide this in a instant is what Red Mage is all about. The Maat fight is no diffrent, you need to have a plan, exucute it, and be ready for any inconvieniences. Just because there isn't anyone to Refresh during the fight makes no diffrence.
So yeah, getting someone to do it for you makes you sub par. It means you couldn't deal with the challenge. That is EXACTLY what makes the diffrence between the half asleep Refresh bot RDM and the RDM who made a bigger impact than cooking skill would have.
