Oi. My biggest chanllenge always comes when everyone in the party, from the DD to the healer, uses MP, and EVERYONE expects to be first in line for Refresh. The only thing worse than that? Having everyone to Refresh(as opposed to maybe three MP users in the party), as well as being the main healer.

Very tiring.

I hear you on this one. I had a pt recently with Pld, Smn, Blm, Rdm (me), Whm, and Drk. And everyone had to have refresh up all the time. Then I had to haste the pld and the drk because the whm didn't pay attention and lets not forget debuffs and heals. (The smn had blm sub and the blm wouldn't heal.) And then they got mad at me when Convert wasn't ready!! Oy!

actually in the late 60 an on. if you can get one good ninja tank. you will go bored out of your mind. refresh yourself an other mage. nobody else. no reason to dispel a dhamel, debuff it to feel useful, an cure every once in a great while when a dhamel pulls off 3 hits an a stomp with 3 shadows up.

Well it really is dependent on your party. I had a pt in Bibiki Bay last night with a Nin, Thf, Mnk, Blm, Rdm (me), and Whm. The blm did his job well but that was it, he didn't throw a cure or -na spells. (I was rdm/blm.) And the whm.....ohhhh mmmyyy ggggggod! Doing gobs that can bomb drop for 700+ and I can't tell you how many times he let people be between the 100-300 lvl in hp. I had no curaga spells or I would have gladly used them. So did he curaga? Nooooo, he prefered Cure 2'ing! Four Cure 2's instead of two Cure 3's.... In fact, curing wasn't even something he cared to do. And haste...HAH! Once in a while if he remembered so guess who had to take over those duties? lol Then throw in refresh, debuffs, silence, and dispel....I was a busy little rdm!

One of the most challengings thing to do is play RDM/BRD effectively. It's extremely difficult, but very rewarding when you do it right, and unlike bad party configurations, it's someting that you actually have control over. I'm really liking the synergy I get with a WHM BLM RDM/BRD backline in XP parties in the 50s. Compared to equivalent parties when I was levelling WHM, BLM, or BRD, my parties as RDM/BRD have a LOT more staying power on long chains, and little if no down time.

I really want to try a full spellcaster party like the one TheGrandMom mentioned above sometime. That would be a real test of skill, I think!

As far as alot of Refreshes go I've had parties of PLD, DRK, WHM, BLM, BLM, RDM (me).

Another good one was taking over a WHM as main heal during a party because he had to go AFK for what turned out to be about 40 minites. Still managed to keep up all RDM duties (against crabs in Boyahda) and jump in with some nukes for the magic bursts. Since the WHM was AFK it did mean there was 1 less Refresh to be doing.

I hit a new landmark. Did a manaburn party in Cape Terrigan to hit level 55. PT setup was:

RDM/BRD(me)
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
BLM/WHM
BLM/SMN

The BLM/SMN was using Aerial Armor, but other than that I was the busy one, keeping up 6 refreshes + Mage's Ballad + pulling + emergency sleep control. Fun, hard, exciting, and of course, very rewarding XP-wise (I think we ended up clocking in around 9000 XP in around 95 minutes).

I miss mana burn pts! ; ; Your right it is so rewarding in so many ways. I like to be on my toes and there is no slacking off in that type of pt!! LOL
