I went in to help a RDM in my LS get this a couple of days ago. We spent quite a while there waiting for it to spawn. But once it did the fight was very rough, we had no BRD and the 75NIN we did have died shortly into it and our THF had to take over tanking it. And he did an awesome job too. This THF/NIN tanked until the NINs weakness wore off and we got the RDM his sword.

Charybdis can take down a NIN if shadows are down and they get hit with a Cross Attack at a bad moment. His Quadruple Attack trait makes short work of shadows unless the NIN has excellent evasion (or just gets a run of bad luck).

Actually I'm pretty sure Cross Attack is multi-hit and can hit through shadows if you don't have enough up, too.

Nin's do it fine equiped with bat earrings. The blindness gives more eva.

Dispite the massive tentacles, it doesn't really hit very often on nins anyway.

The only thing worthy of note is that it has a hefty amount of HP, and can run you dry if you lack the damage output.

Can be taken down with 4, maybe 3 people.

Congratulations on the Joyeuse This is by far the item that has brought me the most fun in the game. Just roaming through a zone and killing whatever I run across just to see the speed of the Joyeuse when the double attacks proc often can amuse me a long time.

Charybdis can be a pain but he's actually duoable, Nin + Rdm/Whm/Brd can do it and I'm pretty sure that a Thf can tank it too. I would be a bit scared until hate was properly on the Thf though. In most other fights I don't care if the monster hits me once or twice but Chary is something special. If things start to go wrong it can turn ugly really fast
