  • My Nightmare will not end.

This concerns hunting the coffer keys in eldieme Necropolis. If you have read my other topic asking how hard it was, you have a idea of what I've been going through.

Tonight marks the 2nd night I was able to build a allaince to go down there and fight for it. Without going into a 5 page detial about it, I'll get straight to the main points

    2 nights
alliances consisting if 14-18 players, lvl 55-70
    10 hours
    2 keys have dropped
    OVER 40 DEATHS HAVE HAPPENED
    OVER 15 POEPLE HAVE DE-LEVELED

All for what?? for this )@#(*&$#@ coffer key that we ALL need, for our *@(*&#$ AF quest.

It's always the same way too, all our parties contributed deaths have always been when we're fighitng some tombmage, or tombwarrior, etc... and ANOTHER one POPS, or aggros from as far as you can see to run clear across the hall looking for some @#*#@ action. and EVERY @#$* TIME when ONE POPS, SO DOES ANOTHER!, it's always 3 or 4 that pop, or one time, 6 just so happened to just come out of NOWHERE!

Tonight there was over 20 deaths, we raised almost all of them had a high lvl whm come use Raise III on the fallen ones. Eventualy, tha whm had to leave, its too bad, we could have all used it again, cuase we all died again.

I've never seen so many deaths. over 40 DEATHS in 2 nights. This quest had driven me to a hatred of madness I havent felt in years. Nothing goes as planned, nothing, and sometimes, too many is just too many in a party.

yes, I would know that it would be better to gather a party of say, 5 lvl 75's, and they just all help me get my key. Sorry, but there aren't 5 lvl 75's willing to do that, in fact, there isnt' 1 lvl 75 willing to do that. Most my friends are lvl 60 at best, and yes, they helped, and guess what? THEY DIED!

When it comes down to it, I have NO CHOICE but to create a larger party of many people who actually NEED the key. Because it is either have a large party of MANY people to hunt for the key, or I don't have ANY party at all. So yes, even though many will be lotting on the key, hey, at least I have a CHANCE rather no NO CHANCE for the key at all.

Beggars cant' be choosers, and I honestly have no choice. Oh yeah, as for the those 2 keys, I didn't win the lot on either them. Tonight, the key dropped on the last mob we killed before we were all slaughtered, so we just BARELY got a key, I would have HATED this all alot more if we all died for nothing, but at least I was able to help ONE of my friends get their key.

It was rather funny actully, my friend got his key, but he was laying dead on the ground when he got it. He lotted on it jsut before he died, and he beat my lot, or I would have gotten it. Right at the last moment.

yeah... you could say, I hate Eldieme Necropolis, this isn't fun, this is actually pretty frustrating.

I helped with something like that the other night. 6 hours and we got 3 keys and 2 bells. Lucky for me there were 10 needing keys and only me and another whm needing bells. I felt so sorry for those others fighting over those keys that never dropped. While we were there someone came in with an alliance of lvl 70s from his LS that cleared out the entire place in 5 min to get his key. That was the most discouraging part of the night.

      ok, question:

why are you taking an alliance in there to get keys? my static was all we needed and once we found a nice safe camp, it was cake.

methinks you need to re-evaluate your camps in the necropolis. and taking an alliance only means trouble - more people more agro.

my static was supremely lucky. we got 3 keys off the first 3 mobs (only our ranger had a thf sub)...

however! beadeaux and davoi are proving to be a HUGE pain. already i am lvl 58 and we need 3 more davoi coffer keys and my oz key

as i understand it undead have twice that aggro range when your hp is yellow, and its even higher if hp drops lower than that.

when i first went i was there only for a couple hours, with 9ish people. we got adds like crazy. i think it was because a taru rdm wearing rse would get yellow every single time something looked at him funny. party had to escape out several times.

i later went with my set party and i don't think we had more than one add ever. we killed them so fast we started building tp on the crappyer mobs down the cliff to kill time. we didn't get adds because all the mages (me, blm, and whm) kept stoneskin up the whole time. there aoe did not drop us into the yellow. and if the group dropped into the yellow from aoe's and specails we healed up fast with curga and spot heals on the non tanks.

still it took us a very long time to just get one key  .

          I guess i am lucky..

          Here's my eldiem story:

I check out a lv75 monk friend of mine, and voila, he's free.

We go to eldieme, open the door and drop down.

          See that Tomb Mage?

          Asuran fist! ( booom )

          Eldieme coffer key.

30 minutes of looking for coffer.

          Warlock's gloves not long after.

Oh well, my best wishes to ye bro ^^

Eldieme is the worst place to get a key in a normal group, IMO, and as was said, a huge alliance just means more people who lot and more opportunities to agro. My suggestion: get some of those 60 or 70+ friends to help just you. I got a 62 PLD/WAR, 62 SAM/RNG, and 67 WHM/BLM to come with, and the four of us found a little safe niche, pulled only bones (Spriggans and Haunts can be bad news), and it didn't take too terribly long, and the risk wasn't high, since even if their health got low they were high enough in level to not agro right away (I kept Stoneskin up on myself, which I do all the time anyway). Twenty, thirty minutes, one key, and a Tele out and we were golden. Ironically, Eldieme is one of the hardest keys to get, but easiest coffers to find (whereas like, Garliage key is really easy, but the coffer is pretty miserable, depending on which gate it decides to be behind).

Yeah thats exactly what he wants to hear. Good job.

I would be in agreement that you need to find a new camp. I would suggest pulling the switches and camping in the room with Lich C Magnus, you shouldn't agro anything from that room. You will have to pull through Liches from the east to pull the Tomb Warrior and Tomb Mages from the tunnel so if you know anyone that needs a papyrus have them in battalia farming or something so that you can have them zone and lot it.

Plenty of room to move around in that room with no agro, you can pull with cure to avoid links and keep mages out of Blood Saber.

Eldieme with an Alliance is a nightmare. At 56 you can go with a party (or wait another level or two) and you'll be fine. Camp in the basement on top of the "Human bones" (?), it's pretty safe.

I hate going with alliances, I always lose on lots and then everyone has to leave.

I will take all the advice into consideration. Except for the ones that didnt'really give any advice at all.

You don't think I know this would be all easier if I again, read my original post. Wher I stated YES, THIS would be MUCH EASIER if I jsut found 5 lvl 75's to get my just ONE KEY! Unfortunetly, I don't HAVE THAT luxury. Again, it's is difficult for say 6 lvl 55 to take on the skellies. They are quite powerful, so again.... It was EITHER take a BIG PARTY in which MANY need the key which means more lots, less chance of getting the key for myself, OR....... NOT going at all. I rather have SOME chance, than no chance at all.

One of my party member DID have a lvl 75 Ranger friend that was SUPPOSED to come, but, he just didn't feel like helping cuase he was already in a party llving his Ninja. If he was there, we could have avoided so much of this crap. But having him NOT coming left a big gap i need of dmg dealers.

                    Ah well.

                      PLEASE CONSIDER MY SITUATION!!!!!!!!!

                      SORRY:

I play in a world where there aren't some super GOD like player going to HOLD MY HAND, to GET my AF armor, to DO my QUEST, to DO my MISSIONS, to BEAT the AVARTARS. So far, I've had to do MOST of everything by my DAMN self with people equal to my lvl range.

NOW, if ANY lvl 75's FEEL like offering HELP for me get my KEY, help me DO this, and DO that, with no real benefit, except that I will become extremely GRATEFUL.........

                      Please.... let me know.

Hpow How about this? Go somewhere else, like Garliange Citadel, drop down to the basment and fight the weapons down there for keys. You need the keys as well as other people and in my opinion garliange drops are easier than eldemine. If you have started the glove quest by talking to guslam you can open the coffers for your other AF equipment.

is there anything uc an fight besides undead ?( weapons or something ?) we were doing garlaige key, and well undead suck, ended up starting to pull weapons, much easier, and got our key from them. i would also suggest going w/ fewer people. less ppl means less hps ae drained=shorter fights. also anyone else seem to notice when word of a key hunt goes out, only ppl with benifits from those zones show up, or lots of random ppl show up expecting keys. linkshell had a whm bell hunt, EIGHT whitemages showed up, like seriously wtf. i would also recommend bringing a bard. bards have a nice abltiy to sleep undead alot more reliably than blm's should help to keep them from running amuk. also haivng ppl not being stupid and attacking everything helps but thats

I'm afraid I can't muster much sympathy for you. From your recent posts, hunting for your (with the emphasis on the "you" part) AF is pretty much all you have been doing.

You complain that no one else is willing to come help you? Maybe that would be because you don't spend the time to help anyone else. What goes around comes around.

However, having done the Eldieme Coffer key thing multiple times, here is my advice:

                            (1) Never, ever, ever bring a large alliance into Eldieme Necropolis. No matter where you camp there isn't going to be enough room for that many people to fight without pulling in extra aggro (particularly when bones all have Black Cloud which can drop multiple people into yellow instantaneously, which greatly increases the chance of a spawn pop/add).

                            (2) Don't bring more than 2 or 3 people who need keys. More than that and you'll be there for longer than most people can stay, which usually ends up with people either not getting keys or people being resentful because they are staying way longer than they signed up for.

                            (3) Level up. No, I'm serious. You can live without the AF armor until 60+, particularly as a red mage. The higher level you are, the more likely you are to get attention when you ask for help acquiring keys. This is ESPECIALLY true for red mages (and Bards) who are often the target of player resentment due to the ease with which they get XP parties. I'm not saying that such resentment is justified - only that it exists, and it will affect the likelihood that someone will be willing to help on an AF run.

This is the route I'm currently taking For the moment, I'm currently taking on other coffers, "easier" coffer keys that aren't as much as a hassle. Time passes, and more people are levelling up to 52~54 range. More people that need to hunt for AF in Eldieme Necropolis. More chances for you to get into a successful key party. ^^

Yeah, it's going to look dodgy without the Warlock's Gloves for a while... but hey, does it really matter? D:
