rdm with phallanx and ninja sub can tank him. Just grav and run off if you need abreather. But you can just chainspell and nuke him dead solo, no need to melee.

Right now with food I have 900 mp, and hope to try him again . . .

I tend to keep refresh, or at least haste up

rdms soloing

I see rdms solo alot on my server; Saw one solo Aquarius and Lumber Jack; watching the rdm solo Lumber Jack was insane, btw it was a rdm/nin; blink+utsu ichi/ni with phalanx and stoneskin went on like crazy; she zoned it to eldieme once cus her MP wasnt ready then came back in full force and after about 30 minutes of fighting she killed Lumber Jack...the ironic and sad thing is...she got no drop; ;

i'm thinking of farming for a verm cloak for my SMN with a RDM friend (hes lvl 61). My main is a level 74 BLM. I was wondering what the RDM needs to cast for us to be able to kill aqua. Does he only need to gravity and refresh me? Would it be better on resists if I just subbed my lvl 21 RDM for grav? Is dispel needed or can we just kill it straight up w/ only gravity? When does he start resisting gravity? Thanks.

A BLM with rdm sub and blizz 4 should be able to take aquarius out easily, if you have a friend who can sub rdm as well it's even easier.

Is the major drop from Aquarius the Damascate (sp?) Cloth? If so, what's it worth? I always forget to check it at the AH. Also, what is it used to make?

3 cloths = Vermillion Cloak / Royal Cloak. Its also used in some other recipes but thats the major one.

Damascene Cloth is a rare drop It is used to create Vermillion Cloak (need three pieces of Damascene cloth) anyway. Well, it always drops Fransisca (1H Axe) that archers love.

I am curious as to how a BLM sub RDM can take on Aquarius. Do BLMs have enough enfeebling magic skil lto not to get Gravity resisted? or can BLM cast Blizz 4 before they get hit with only part of a RDM's fast cast? I'm not sure if htese are factors in soloing Aquairus but I am just curious

60 RDM's Gravity sticks like 1 out of every 2 times, so not really hard for a 75 BLM to stick it.

It's all based on levels anway. Aquarius is level 72-73, so if your level's higher than that, your success rate is the same as you trying to cast it on a decent challenge (which usually sticks anyway^^).

What do you think the chances a 70/35 blm/rdm would have at soloing Aq? How long does the fight last? Do you have to recast gravity to the point where it half-resists them?

You won't win at 70. A RDM may be able to win with their Chainspell and constant refresh... but for a BLM, I'd wait til you're 72 at the very least.

Easiest way to solo Aquarius is to buff yourself. Pull with Gravity, initiate Chainspell. Blast Blizz III or Thunder III, move away, keep blasting. Easy win. You could also chain aspir if you are low on mp. Extremely easy fight.
