The only thing a RDM has to be very weary of is if gravity wears off before cooling time, you can die very very easily to aqua. I've used marathon to beat aqua, with another RDM, we was nuking thunder3 and thunder2, we was only meant to hold it but by the time backup arrived it was dead

Hehe Aq...
Aquarius the Crab is a little ball of rape.
I've killed him 11 times so far in PT, got cloth drop once ^^
Usually a PT of 66+ can take him without much problem if they have higher tank, like 68. Otherwise NIN tank and you got it at 66.
Oddly enough, every 65 PT I've been in has had a hard / impossible time, so maybe it's the L3 Renkai, maybe it's just the right Attack / Defense difference, who knows. Maybe it's just me ^^
Aq hits mad fast compared to other crabs. He also has much higher defense and stronger attack. I've seen him knock PLD65+ around for 100+ damage per hit. He's no cakewalk, but definitely doable with a leveling PT post-66.
Anyway, have fun, he's a good drop, you do the people who level there a service, and you get some good old fashioned NM fun while you're at it!

me any my set PT killed this thing at 62 (everyone in the PT was 62) and we had no outside help. It was quite an achievement.
since then we've killed it many times, but also i can't count how many times i've seen a bst (or 2 bsts) soloing/duoing this thing.

A few notes:
Blm sub is vastly superior to any other sub. I only have /whm, and I barely just beat Aquarius (it was so close, that if any of my Blizzard 3's were even half-resisted, I would have died). Fight took about 10 minutes, so blm sub with higher nuke dmg + higher base mp + aspir would have made this a much easier fight.
Nin sub is worthless; Aquarius attacks too fast, and your melee damage is too low to make melee'ing a viable option.
I'd imagine the earliest possible lvl to do this without russian roulette odds is at 73 for Blizzard 3. Fire 3 is too easily resisted, and using the lvl 2 spells means more chances for gravity to be resisted (which means bad news for you).
Umm yeah, I won't regularly fight Aquarius til 75, and I get my blm sub leveled, because with whm the margin for error is just to tight to justify the risk given the meagre drop rate.

Killed him 10 times so far with 2 cloth drops. My Small LS (First Group of NA Release to reach Tu'lia on Titan Server @!!) kills him if hes up everytime we head up to Tu'lia to camp coffers, skillup or fight Arc Angels.~
I can see a RDM soloing him even without melee, Dia and bio 2 and run it around. e.e
CoP/Zilart/San/Win Finished, Bastok 1-1

Of course, there are many spots around boyahda where you can get Aquarius (or any other mob) to lose aggro on you, so you can save yourself from death, but then you run the risk of other less ethical NM campers stealing it. Also Aqua has a sick, sick regen rate when not claimed, so it really is in your best interest to keep his name red at all times.
When everything goes right, however, you'll kill him as quick and as effortless as most regular tank-melee-backline parties will.

Deodorant is right.. haha if gravity is resisted you be dead.
I think to ammend what I posted. Even if gravity wears off before the cooling time, if you have a advantage of distance you are still fine. Recast Stoneskin at a safe spot whenever you take a hit.
Zempten - I guess bliz3 works just as well with ice staff, but I guess those with thunder3 its worthwhile. Crabs are weak to thunder no? I found Aqua barely resists magic on this lvAtrox, Ragnorok

Blizzard3 and Thunder3 seem to have the same dmg/mp ratio, so neither is really 'superior.' I suppose thunder would in theory have a lower resist rate, then again you could equip ice staff and get 10% extra blizzard damage and +10 elemental skill.
By 'bio/dia/bliz/thunder' I didn't mean 'all at once,' just examples of what spells you might or would be using.
