pretty old news that elvaans aren't the 'best suited' race for the job, but we can make good RNGs.

Mithra are supposedly #1 for it, but eh.. ::shrug:: If people really cared that much, everyone would either a. be hume, or b. have a different character for each of their main jobs, lol.

        Yup. They may do so.

Guns may BE affected by str. However, the thing with guns are that they are INSANELY slow... And REALLY high dmg.

This means, it's important that nearly every shot hits. Whereas with a bow in comparison, you can shoot a few more arrows with higher-than-mithran-dmg, bullets are almost too slow to be able to spam to make up for misses.

Sure, with brd and equip and yada yada yada...
With guns, it becomes much more important that shots hit. Mithrans do this better. I never ventured into the str debate.

        Anything else, your elvaan-ship? ^^

Everytime DrSerpico posts, I can't help but smirk when he plays an ego-card on someone else. Read his post titles or his remarks and judge for yourself.

Am I the only one who finds his matter-of-fact, pseudo-intellectual condescending tone a put off?

Elvaans make the "best" Monks? :spin:

Using the NPC race for a job to "cinch" an argument? :spin:

Elvaan are "on par" with Mithra for Bows (more STR, slightly less accuracy), but yet Elvaans are not on par with Mithra for Guns? (more STR, slightly less accuracy, hey, that's odd.. that was enough to put them "on par" with Mithras for Bows). :spin:

          Dizzying arguments.

            Sooo sorry.

If I sound a bit offending, it's just my teasing way of getting messages across.

The issue with bows and time as I stated in my last post is that they have lower delay than guns/bullets, enabling you to fire more arrows for a more even damage curve.

Guns are much slower. making it more important to make every shot count.
That's why I think elvaans make the best monks. Their superior strength.
Since mnk hit OFTEN, missing here and there isn't that much of an issue. Higher strength and hitting HARD outweighs the occasional extra miss here and there from being elvaan.

Frequent attacks outweih the occasional miss, making DoT larger for elvaan. With guns geing noticeably slower than drk scythes, missing becomes and issue.

And with the higher str, hitting too much would mean hate issues. In this case more accuracy is wanted. Hence I feel mithras are better for guns, but with bows it's not that noticeable, and the extra str of Elvaan may outweigh the extra acc of Mithrans.

No smirks, no hidden superirity innuendo, just plain opinions.
If yours differ, feel free to voice them.

              DrSerpico

Have you played as a lvl 50+ Elvan RNG? No?

Then STFU with your arm chair antics. You have no clue or proof of the words you speak.

The fact are: I just partied with a 51 mithra RNG and I hit harder and more often at 50 RNG. Litterally everyone in the party kept /telling me "Wow i though mithra are supposed to be better ranger"

Not the case. I out damage you. I hit just as often. I actually landed more arrows on the 10-15 barrages we did in that 50/51 party.

The only reason you are here defending mithra is because you spend hundreds of hours leveling the inferrior choice for ranger.

Keep telling yourself "but but but, im better with guns" I hope it makes you feel better.

I do more damage, and hit just as often. Period. Suck it up.

Oh, I forgot to mention, I have a Mithra too. Who is retired because of low damage.

              Ants: Mithra - 32RNG/30WAR/15MNK/15THF
              Ant: Elv - 50RNG/30WAR/30NIN/15THF

So I KNOW from experience, Unlike you sitting back on the couch advising people on something you have no knowledge or expierence of.

Maybe the real question is, do you like being a man and dressing up like a woman? AND doing less damage?

              LoL nuff said.

                "nuff said"?

Tell me my friend, the mithra whom you partied with, was your equipment identical? I can outtank elvaan wars as a smn if they have level 1 eq.

And if I had NO idea whatsoever of how the 2 races compared, would I even voice my opinion?

The thing is, when you compare stuff during fights, you tend to not e the things "your" race does better, and omit the things they do not.

Here's what I'd like you to do:
1: Get of the horse. Just jump off it, it's not that hard.
2: Find a mithra rng of your exact level, and Archery skill level.
3: Make sure she has the exact same equip as you.
                4: Get a highlvl pld.
                5: Whm
6: Go fight some vt-it con mobs.
7: Count every attack, jot down the damage on EVERY attack, as well as number of missed attacks.
8: Present these numbers to me in an orderly fashion.
9: If you where right, THEN tell me to shove it, (which was more or less what you did, with some oh-so-hidden personal attacks. (Things I've so far refrained from doing, mind you.)) If you were wrong, apologize like the non-crossdressing man you are.

And why does everyone just outright draw the conclusion that I'm male straight away? Misconceptions and jumped conclusions... That's what starts every fight.

                Awaiting your reply eagerly, Serpicatha.

(ps: Do you ever discuss football? Have you ever discussed a sport in which you have not participated on an elite level? Thing is, you only have to play WITH an elvaan rng 50+ for a number of hours (8+ or so) to be able to make some observations. You don't actually have to play AS one. Ds.)

This entire arguement is stupid. Whoever has the better gear setup, wins.

Despite the supposed "standard" ranger gear, every single person I've inspected has something different. (at least until AF.) You're virtually never going to come across someone with an identical gear setup (nor should you, to cover for weaknesses) so the entire arguement is moot. As long as you don't outright suck (no Racc, gear not up to date etc) it dosen't matter.

                    DrSerpico~

In regards to your argument that "Guns are slower, so each shot has to hit in order to make the damage curve count":

Bullshit. Do you have any idea what you just said? A miss is a miss. 5Misses out of 50 arrows is the same damned thing as 3 misses out of 30 bullets. The fact that you can "compensate" by firing more arrows has no bearing on your argument. In case you haven't realized, by the time you are level 56~ and have a GOOD PLD, then most Bow-Wielding RNGs will basically be firing non-stop. In other words, your garbage about arrow-compensation is moot.

And, like AntAnt, I HAVE had a 2-RNG PT [Mithra and Myself]. And guess what? I have a Damage Parser running on a networked laptop. Guess what again? Statistics show that the accuracy difference between Elvaan and Mithra [ After Prelude+2, Frost, etc ] is NEGLIGABLE. But, guess who did significantly more damage? Yours truely did.

There is a higher difference in accuracy between /NIN and /WAR than there is between ELVAAN and MITHRA. And guess what? Even the difference between /NIN and /WAR has not shown itself to me yet.

Note that I never once said Elvaan is the best RNG.

Proof? Logs? Pictures? Let's have a look at these parser recordings. Preferably undoctored please and I trust you both were similarly equipped.

Why am I being an asshat? Because I noticed you, Feralis, tend to make self-serving arguments, often undermining the advantages of another race (ex: undermining Mithran accuracy vs. Elvaan by calling it "negligible") while seemingly exaggerating your advantages (ex: Elvaan vs Mithran dmg difference as being "significant"). I'd be surprised if the damage difference was truly that "significant."

                      Just curious is all.

                        What he said.

To answer the post that derailed:
Yup, elvaan make more than decent rangers.

Heck, any race make good rangers, as long as you equip accordingly. Play Elvaan rng, be happy about it, and above all, try to be kind and humble to your party-mates.

(Too many people have Really high chocobos they need to get off of) I've partied with SUPER nice people of every race, as well as real d-heads from every race.

Yes. Decent, at least, most depending on gear and pt setup than race. Slight disadvantage/advantage in accordance to the same. See you ^^

Do you know what a damage parser is? Anyone can doctor it, and me giving you the TEMP log files [Ahem, I say again, TEMP] won't do a bit of good.

You'll just have to take my word on it.

Oh, and... at your level a taru taru can be just as good of a MNK as a big ugly Galka. =)

                                Feralis,

First of all, don't bring my level into this.

Second, I damn well sure know what a parser is. I've used one in EverQuest for my Rogue, and I've been in guilds who ran raid-parsers. Yeah, it can be doctored, but if you provide a screencap of the log (assuming you're using a non-idiotic parser). Besides, there are always in-game pictures. I'll even host them for you. With pictures, its harder to refute; unless you're that much of a loser to go in and doctor images to prove a point (although its usually easy to tell when images are doctored). Oh, and be sure to show us both Rangers' gear.

No, not taking your word for it. Calling you a bullshitter is what I am doing as of this point because you refuse to back up your claims. Every argument you make is self-serving and overly biased. I can go through your replies and laugh at you one-by-one and show how you flip-flop your logic when it serves you. Like say, how Mithran Dex/Agi vs. Elvaan Dex/Agi is "negligible" and yet Elvaan Str vs. Mithran Str makes an "OMG MASSIVE DMG DIFFERENCE WOWZORS!!!!1111oneone"

You brought up the parser, as if mentioning it would validate your claims. Well, I'm asking you to validate them now. Now its time for you to put up or shut up.
