So that +15 agi that Mithra have over Elvaan (forgive me if I'm wrong) I'm pretty sure adds up to 7.5 extra accuracy 'points'. When you factor in all the +ranged ACC gear, the AF armour, etc..., the difference will be minimal, if at all noticeable. Just like the difference in damage will be minimal as well. Really, it's quite hard to gimp a character, you'll be fine no matter what you do...

When I'm in a party, I don't judge anyone by their race/job combo - I'm completely happy partying with a Taru Monk, Elvaan Ranger, Galka BLM, etc... if they know what they're doing. All too often you get a noob with a good race/job combo but who doesn't have a clue how to actually play the game...

Comparing a Galka mage to an Elvaan ranger is off the wall, since you are comparing different stats.

      (MP compared to agi).

The difference in MP is MUCH greator than the difference in Agility (which is like ten percent)

I would have to say if you are not a elvaan ranger or even a ranger to please shut up. If you have not even tried elvaan ranger you have no reason to talk bad on them and say that they suck. fyi i am elvaan and lvl 50 and im hitting IT mobs alot. In fact if I hit them anymore and if i was mithra I would be dead probably alot more often due to lower hp and VIT. I have nice equipment to make up for my agi, its a little thing called ranged acc! stuff like the best rings, drone earrings, +1 bows, bastokan pants and boots and food make me a really nice (accurate ranger.) and of coarse if a ranger had crappy equipment they will perform crappy. same for other jobs. so elvaan are good rangers but mithra are a little bit better in the acc and crit department. that is all !
        I hate the Idiots...

If you have the right equipment and a bit skill, an elvaan rng could be a good rng

But the more higher lvl you get, the more difference there is in stats, I am almos lvl 59 now and I noticing every little bit of rng acc, I dun know the excact difference between agility for hume/elvaan/mithra (I am hume) but in the end (lvl 70+) it matters, doesn't mean you're gonna be a bad rng, just means that if there is someone just as skilled as you (or better ^^) and not an elvaan he/she would make a better rng, not meaning that you are a bad rng

If you just happen to be a elvaan, dun let that stop ya from lvl'ing up rng class, if you have the right equipment you're still the best melee dmg dealer in a pt

but if you're looking towards high lvl HNM hunting orso then it maybe smart to lvl up drk class too orso ^^

McClane, even high lvl Mithra Rangers can't land hits consistantly on HNMs, so that is out of the picture.

I think, in the long run, a lv75 Mithra Ranger will have like 8 Ranged Accuracy more than a lv 75 Elvaan Ranger. That is =NOT= alot of accuracy, when you consider the fact that you will have like +50rng acc gear on, and a base agility of like 60 (30rng acc)

With a good 70+ rng you could hunt some big NM's, dun know where I need to draw the line of NM/HNM ^^
You dun have to hit em constantly -.-, you dun even have to do the best dmg, if you got the right friends you just gotta do some reasonable ammount of dmg, sure there will be some HNM's that are too good for acc but not all of em, cause if you can't get some nice mil drops when you are a rng, being a rng would be completely useless around 70+, unless you think getting to 75 with a rng, buying like 5 mil on arrows is fun without doing anything when you reach 75

and +8 or 9 acc isn't alot, I ain't saying you would suck, I'm just saying it makes a difference

                Consistantly, I said =P

There is a point where your PT needs to be able to predict the mob's movements and keep it quarantined. If you are a ranger fighting this HNM, then your damage will be sporadic, causing it to jump around like a jackass.

(H)NM won't jump around if pld/nin can keep hate and if the rng isn't stupid enough to get the hate, same as with an exp pt, try to do as much dmg without getting hate, with big NM's or HNM's I would be a bit more carefull tho ^^

Ummm, why the hell are people saying that 8 points in Ranged Accuracy don't matter?

Sure, you can spend lots of gil to make up for it, but that doesn't make it not matter. A Mithra could spend the same amount of gil and still be 8 points of Ranged Accuracy ahead of you.

Can an Elvaan make a decent Ranger?
                    Yes

Can a different race with the same equipment and skill make a better Ranger?
                    Again, yes.

I think people are letting their experience with Elves in other games influence their thoughts on this one.
                    Anything you can do,
                    Taru do better.
                    Taru do anything
                    Better than you

Elvaan will still do the most damage though

AND do the cool 'hold bow sideways' shot

hello i have something too say,

rng have no problem in missing at all if you have good equip. the only issue with missing is sidewinder. if you read details on sidewinder it says "inacurate" there is a reason for that

i whas fighting roc (HNM with high evasion) yes i miss alot , but each landed hit whas 350, i usualy hit 1/5. but then the brd in ls hit 71 and got archers prelude so he did archers+hunters prelude, my hit rate whas 3/5, needless too say i outdmg'd drk, war, thf (wich whas at same lvl).

im not so experinced in HNM's so im not sure how high evasion is for the other HNM's.

                        sorry for poor english^^

p.s and ohh race dont matter so much in melee. but mage class is diffrent

                        take care

Thank you! It matters exactly why I said MP difference is not the same as DEX/STR progression difference!
