NIN tanks, what am i doing wrong?

I wonder what SE's original plan for NIN was before it was tank-jacked? Each class tends to have a niche, right? What was the NIN niche before players began to see it as a tanking class? It appears to be more of a rdm on steriods, than a tank. Most of its abilities are geared towards enfeebling, and only the Utsu's lend themselves towards 'tanking'.

Any NIN's on here play something other than a tank?

Whatever SE's "plan" was for NIN, there is an obvious use for them besides tanking, that the majority of players either don't see or don't care about. Let me put it this way, a NIN could probably deal as much damage as a DRK at the least and probably keep up with a lot of other damage dealing classes. Why? Shuriken. Besides the Fuma Shuriken which are extremely hard to get compared to other things, Manji shuriken are level 48, have a damage of 63 and a delay of 192. That means with enough +rng acc gear a NIN could throw two of those in the time it takes any other melee to attack once and do a hell of a lot of damage. PLUS they have two katanas whacking away at the mob. With something like a WAR sub they would be fairly powerful, neh? One of the main reasons NIN aren't seen as damage dealers is probably because their gear is always aimed towards tanking. Unfortunate, but there are too few decent tanks around >_<.

To get a good hit rate with shurikens you really need a bard landing hunters prelude on you. They are too expensive to miss with :sweat:

Nin's still lack a ws that does alot of damage though, which make it hard to justify in my eyes having a nin play pure DD

Nins = low damage but attack so very fast =.=;;

However Malleus.. you will start to know what Nins are like when you lvl up more. At you're lvl Nins would still be using Utsusemi: Ichi.

Ichi is so limited for tanking.. due to the fact that it has very long casting time, hence being interupted a lot while tanking. Nin 37+ will be able to tank much better, more so at higher lvls... Nin not only get +Haste gear, +Enmity gear, - % Physical Damage taken, and +Evasion/Agi gear. They also get Passive Evasion boosts as the lvl. And I hear soon Nins will get the San series of spells. Utsusemi: San would be quite nice to see.

As Nins get higher lvl they get much better, and much more wanted in PT's. It's nice to go to chain 5 about 3-4 times without really having Mages to rest once.
