FF series has always been turn based, thus you could never run away and they wouldn't follow, you just had to outrun them (if you could run from battle)... same thing sort of happens, you should have to run away fast enough and get enough distance.

Also, if someone cast blind on you, do you always think it will be 100% blind... no, it's a chance, and no spells always hit 100% for 100% damage. Many mosters resist spells, thus it wont work at all.

as for casting blind from a distance, after it's been hit, if it's one of the first things it get's hit with, your fault... if someone casts a spell on you, who you can see before it casts, then you'd still charge in that direction anyway trying to attack... but if it's attacking someone else and you cast it, you are right on how it shouldn't switch.

FFXI is an online real time RPG, when FF series has always pretty much been turned base, and almost everything follows the old turn based ideas, and wont change.

Comparing FFXI to D&D is really dumb. Why? 2 completly different games. Don't expect them to be the same, sure they are the same genre sometimes, but you know their backgrounds and gameplay. If you think they should be molded together, you make the game and call it "Dungion of Fantasy" (hehe, ) or something. They aren't the same game, so don't compare, if you like one mroe than the other, that's fine, but don't tell one game to change something that's been in it's history to another game, buecause it's not the other game.

About attacking things as a BLM when the WAR doesn't have Provoke just let him get the first 2 or 3 hits in and then cast in moderation. I usuallyBlind first so if I get my hate up I can usually avoid the attacks. Then I will poison just to make the battle go faster and then use attack magic. And as for D&D with MMORPG's D&D rules are used for most MMORPG's such as EQ and no doubt some of FFXI uses some of those rules just the same spells and MP and HP system. Its a possibilty.

Find a good friend and give him a stick. Grab a stick for yourself and stand four feet away from your friend. Close your eyes. Try and hit your friend with the stick. Honestly, you'll have more trouble trying to block/evade your friend's stick than you will finding him to hit him... people make a lot of noise even when not "fighting".

Note: Don't actually try this unless you've both got weak arms and a strong friendship.

As far a Blind's hate goes, usually the tank just had to hit the mob twice to get it off of me, back when I was just starting to group and actual Warriors where hard to find.

I agree completly Coinspinner. People do make noise while fighting and casting spells has to make some noise I mean you have to chant. Remeber FFT? To cast Thunder was something like "Glistening blades rend the Earth, Thunder!" I love FFT.

This is the first time I've seen someone call something that doesn't meet his ideal world a bug.. a bug is when something does not work as intended. Blind works as intended - thusforth - not a bug. Your title should be "I hate blind because etc."

On that note, you can't validate FF's version of blind being "wrong" because other rpgs you've played did it differently. That's like me saying your entire life is wrong because it wasn't like mine.

Yet another good point Water Geko. Just because the Blind spell isnt what it was in another game doesnt make it bugged. If its that big of a problem go back to playing your Text based RPG's because thats how Final Fantasy has always used the Blind status. As an accuracy lowering status.

How about this for thought. I want to agree with the OP on this. Blind in the other Final Fantasy's from what I recall was MUCH more effective than Blind in FFxi. If a monster casted blind on my hard hitting Cloud (ffvii), he would miss a lot. That being said, I wish Blind was more effective in that respective, cause the monsters keep hitting me like usual as if it had no effect after casting blind on them. I must say this; if Blind was as effective as it was in FFxi, then yes it should be a super high level skill and not a lvl4 (?) skill. But now that I have it, I wish I could unlearn this waste of space. =)

You really, REALLY wouldn't want Blind to work as well as it does in the rest of the FF series. Think about it - a Wight activates Black Cloud and Blinds your entire party. If your chance to hit just went from 90% to 25%, you are in some serious trouble.

Honestly, though, ask any melee character how much Blind affects them and I think you'll be surprised at just how much impact it has. Usually the reason it seems less powerful than it really is is because you are usually using it on things that are higher level than you, with higher Attack scores. Against monsters closer to your level, Blind has a major impact on accuracy.

Ha ha yeah Blind is about as effective as they could make it with out getting some people angry. Melee characters already take a serious beating from Blind seeing how it reduces Hit % by even a small amount and if they made Blind more effective Black Mages would be by far the most powerful characters on the game. I mean having the ability to completly Blind an enemy or even lowering their accuracy to 25% gives anyone casting Blind way too great an advantage.

                        Realism vs Balance

                        Round 1

I totally agree with the original poster that blind doesn't act how a "real" blind spell would.

Likewise I imagine he would agree with me when I say that attacking unarmored foes with a 6 foot sword should instantly kill them, if not gimp them right out of the fight.

Guess it must be a bug.

lol, and when I cast fire on a Mob I thought it would burn to death. I mean i never saw that goblin stop drop and roll. this game is a total joke, I expected Final Fantasy (emphasis on the Fantasy) to be more realistic...........what a rip off.
