FF series has always been turn based, thus you could never run away and they wouldn't follow, you just had to outrun them (if you could run from battle)... same thing sort of happens, you should have to run away fast enough and get enough distance.
Also, if someone cast blind on you, do you always think it will be 100% blind... no, it's a chance, and no spells always hit 100% for 100% damage. Many mosters resist spells, thus it wont work at all.
as for casting blind from a distance, after it's been hit, if it's one of the first things it get's hit with, your fault... if someone casts a spell on you, who you can see before it casts, then you'd still charge in that direction anyway trying to attack... but if it's attacking someone else and you cast it, you are right on how it shouldn't switch.
FFXI is an online real time RPG, when FF series has always pretty much been turned base, and almost everything follows the old turn based ideas, and wont change.
Comparing FFXI to D&D is really dumb. Why? 2 completly different games. Don't expect them to be the same, sure they are the same genre sometimes, but you know their backgrounds and gameplay. If you think they should be molded together, you make the game and call it "Dungion of Fantasy" (hehe,
) or something. They aren't the same game, so don't compare, if you like one mroe than the other, that's fine, but don't tell one game to change something that's been in it's history to another game, buecause it's not the other game.
