Woot!
I recently joined a high level LS and they've started HNMs on Bahamut server. Last night I arrived too late to fight Simurgh (drops the +12% movement boots) but made it to the Serket event. There were 15 of us filling the basement of Garlaige, along with at least 20-30 other people from other LS all waiting for the scorpion king himself to spawn. Mashing my macro for nearly an hour, and I suddenly targetted Serket and almost jumped out of my seat. I was too far away for my macro and I figured we'd lose it to the others. But I ran towards him and spammed charm, and somehow I still got the claim before the other LS. A nearby whm in my LS hit it with Dia at around the same time, so we're not sure who actually got the claim, but Serket did run up and whack me first for 350 damage. Then we engaged Serket with a dual ninja / dual thief team front and back to staple hate, while a pile of mages sat back and alternated casting and resting, with our bard doing her rounds. I called Courier Carrie in and send her in to fight, but 20 seconds into the fight when Serket unleashed a special that did 731 damage to me, I decided that I probably didn't want to get involved in the melee. The battle takes a long time, and the bats and beetles that fill the basement were spawning and attacking our alliance, so I released Carrie and started doing circuits of the battleground, charming all the mobs and moving them to a safe distance to release.
My HNM LS was exstatic, they'd never had a bst to deal with all the MANY adds of a 30 minute long battle, and instead had to devote time, mp and manpower to kill off the beetles and bats. I was glowing with pride at their comments at how much it helped having a bst to pull the adds off all our mages.
The happy ending being of course, that Serket went down, I got my HNM title, and he dropped the 1.6M serket ring. Go go beastmaster!
Serket today, Dynamis tomorrow (well, maybe someday).
