Also don't forget those BRD/NIN Fafhogg tanks... I won't go any further because I only know about this through seeing it, never having done it or talked to someone who has.

I just know it's been done several times before.

There's a discussion about this over on the BG forums. I'm not sure how much credence to give it as I've not seen it tried, but it probably works pretty well if you have the right gear for it. Definitely not for the faint of heart, though.

I'd kill to have /NIN available as a subjob for this reason alone. /WHM is a much slower puller than /NIN is.

Please stop posting opinions about things you do not have experience with.
I'm a 75 BRD, been in TP burns since Zilart content. I've done the roaming arrowburns, manaburns and rampage PTs. I did them all as BRD/WHM and HAVE had similar chains, so I have the experience, thank you very much. I will not be bowing out here and, really, singling out the ToA zones is silly because the majority of mobs are weak to piercing and have high respawn, so give SE the credit for your high chains, not your tactics.

BRD/NIN's role in ToA zones is no different than what BRDs did in sky for roaming PTs - sleep the mobs they pull, holding and blink-tanking the slept mobs. I've done it as BRD/WHM with little to no issues whatsoever.

What efficacy /NIN adds for MERIT PTs (73+, but /NIN really viable a 74), it does not add to standard EXP prior to TP burn levels. You yourself have admited this point. And really, that should be the whole point of this thread. /NIN is a TP burn sub only, if even that.

My problem with the advocacy of /NIN is pretty much that you're talking about the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow. You're telling a newbie BRD about dessert before he's gotten through with his vegatables. I know for a fact BRD/NIN won't suffer for invites before TP burns, however, his PTs will. BRD is about reducing downtime and if you're not subbing /WHM and learning to use it toward that function, you're wasting your time on the job, period

Why? Because w/o WHM, you won't have much of a place in endgame functions. You'll only have Ballad to offer mages in an alliance and would likely be replaced by a RDM, COR or another BRD that could sub WHM. People can say what they want about those jobs not competing with each other, but COR sure as hell can compete with its mage buffs.

Other alliance tactics can vary, but usually, its been /WHM in most cases I've experienced. I wouldn't go in expecting to tank Faffy off the bat, either, not all HNM shells would go for that and its just as much about risking the loss of claim with that as it is endgame politics in general.

/whm is what you need 1-72. After 72 you'll start getting alot of tp burn parties where /whm is more or less useless if you ask me. I rarely ever have time to get off a cure spell as a /whm between constant pulling and song rotation and the /nin has save my life many times pulling those wayverns in Bhafla Thickets that hit for 250 a swing with double attack. Shadows are also great for helping to sleep since you get an extra 6 attacks to blow if you need to wait for lullaby recast. NIN is useful only for soloing and burn parties. I would use whm for everything else.
