You will recall that I have already keeled over in what will probably be gil-withdrawal shock.

Having said that, a more serious evaluation ...

Sha'ir Turban: has defense and slight haste boost, but otherwise vastly outdone in both CHR and MP by the Opo-opo Crown.

Sha'ir Manteel: very nice, 3 less CHR than Errant Houppelande or Kirin's Osode (and no negative stats like errant), has +MP and a slight haste boost, but most importantly knocks time off the songs.

Sha'ir Gages: aside from the singing skill, finally something which is better than AF hands. (Some races can get a good deal with RSE2 hands though. Hume get 30-some MP and 3 CHR.) Decreasing recast delay is nice, esp. if you want to spam debuffs.

Sha'ir Seraweels: also very nice - it's as much CHR as *Mahatma* without any negative stats, and offers percentage boosts to HP and MP. (Though of course, that's a whopping +1 MP for every 100 MP you have, so it's not a big MP boost even if you're loaded down with +MP.)

Sha'ir Crackows: as much CHR as Dance Shoes +1, another +MP and slight haste boost.

Overall evaluation: pretty damned nice. Will also presumably carry a pretty high price tag, if only for being a new item. Offers reasonable but not enormous MP boosts, so Zenith abjurations are still well worth considering for MP. (Zenith Slops/Pumps also have decent +CHR as well as MP+50 each.) Errant Houppelande and Kirin's Osode are still technically better at landing debuffs, by 3 CHR.

    HQ stats:

    [HEAD] Sheikh Turban
    DEF: 18 MP+10 CHR+4 Haste+2%
    Lv.72 BRD

    [BODY] Sheikh Manteel
    DEF: 43 MP+16 CHR+8 Haste+3%
    Song spellcasting time -13%
    Lv.72 BRD

    [HANDS] Sheikh Gages
    DEF:20 MP+14 CHR+6
    Song recast delay -4
    Lv.72 BRD

    [LEGS] Sheikh Seraweels
    DEF:38 HP+3% MP+2% CHR+9
    Lv.72 BRD

    [FEET] Sheikh Crackows
    DEF:19 MP+12 CHR+5 Haste+2%
    Lv.72 BRD

In other words, add 1 to every number, except for the MP and recast delay on the gages, and the MP on the manteel (in which case you add 2).

It looks so cool! More creampuff armor!

All that +haste stuff will help with casting/recast times too. Not to mention make us a little better at using weapons.

No -stats!!!! THANK GOD! Nothing is more annoying than sleeping something and it beating you down with like -20 vit and then carrying around equipment so you dont take as much dmg.

This gear is nice because it has the direct purpose of helping a bard cast Maiden Virelai quickly and often without outside help because of the added Haste and the -2 recast delay bonus. I'd like to see how low we can drop the recast timer with a full set of this and the proper buffs. Also help casting stuff like Lullaby quickly and often. With the MP and CHR boost, this armor is perfect for Bard.

          Wow.

          That's all I gotta say ; ;

I can imagine that the total price tag for a full set will remain in the tens or twenties of millions for some time...

Any idea if these are craftable, or quest or god/HNM drops?

Over all, this gear looks like the ideal rig for the HNM hunting hyper CHR+ BRD, other than the use of the Opo-opo Crown.

*prays for them to be BCNM or pop-god drops*

they are crafted because there are HQ versions for each piece.

the craft materials are likely from CoP NMs or HNMs.

hopefully it doesn't use anything that would be the equivalent of Shining Cloth in rarity to make the Body Piece.

it'd be nice if most BRDs can get a hold of these like most BLMs and their Black Cloaks (as opposed to WHMs and Noble's Tunic).

Yeah.. I noticed that while a lot of new crafted equipment can already be found on AH, none of this set is.. so it does seem likely key components are found in the CoP zones.

We still don't know if NM/HNMs will be more forced spawn, like the Kirin and Co, or if they are window/placeholders.. which would of course suck. I'm hopeful these aren't *too* crazy hard to get. I'm curious which craft will make these.. and what the formula is.

While I *love* the stats, I can't help but feel disappointed at how drab they look.. so exceeding un-bard like. I want equipment that makes a bard look like a bard, gosh-darnit!

(AF is better looking that this.....)

              [Edit]

I was just complaining the other day there weren't really many HNM drops for bards like the other classes, and I was joking that there was no reason for me to camp them with my LS (other than to "cash out"). Well at least now that's changed

On the flip side of that... hopefully the H/NMs dropping the crafting materials will be usable by other crafts so as not to make it the same sort of tooth-pulling event it is to get folks to camp Novv for the Minstrel's Coat.

Well, the set doesn't have any +singing/wind skill as opposed to the existing ones that we're using. Some of the new jse like the boot is a very good replacement but I'm not sure if wearing the whole set is a good idea. Perhaps someone can enlighten me :D

It would have been doubly nice if it had some +skill on it, but im not going to complain about the new armor. It adds some very cool bonuses that bards have never had access to really. A big shortcoming for brds are the long casting times and long recasting times.

While the +skill is very nice for PT buffs, every 75 bard I know, and from posts I've read on message boards, you give up your +skill in exchange for +CHR against HNM anyways. Now if I'm reading everything correctly, these pieces (except the body) are all the highest +chr you can get on a particular armor slot... and at this point the +mp (and other positive benefits) is pure bonus, which does not detract in the least from how great the stats themselves actually are.

Now for the body piece, the errant coat and kirin's oscode both get +3 more than the JSE, but errant has some drawbacks (I don't consider them deal-breakers, but they are there) and the oscode isn't always the easiest thing to get. So depending on price/availablity, I think this is still a perfectly viable option.

If you are going for pure MP, then you'll be going for Zenith gear, anywho. Still, it seems as if other high level armors (AF2/JSE/Cursed/Ect) are *really* *friggen* *good* at what they do -- to the point they preclude even considering using other equips ... and while Bard JSE did make my jaw drop, I don't consider it to be the "uber leet equipz" that is going to draw the envy of all your friends and more importantly, make you a *signifcially* better bard.

look at WHM JSE, does any WHM you know really use the entire Noble's set?

i don't think this is suppose to be the end all be all of BRD equipment but it certainly does give you some options and is something new to buy (whether or not that's a good or bad thing i don't really know lol).

I see a few noble whms running around tulia a lot. If i was able to get the noble tunic, then id wear the entire set as much as possible.

I think the reason we dont see many whms wearing noble gear is because its not exactly easy to get ahold of.
