No! they can't stop the level cap at 75, it's Final Fantasy Doctrine to have the highest leveled dude to be at level 99, with 9999hp and 999 mp.

okay, all kidding aside, I think that as long as they keep stopping it at a level divisible by 5 I'll be alright. The only gripe I have is that at 75 your subjob will be at level 37, so for asthetic reasons, they have to raise the cap to 80.

If they did it to 85, then every single mage, and his mother, would sub rdm as a subjob because of both convert, and refresh.

The only way they'd be able to balance this out, would be to throw in a Refresh-ga or a Refresh II for rdms.

Personally, I think the reason why they're not going to do another level cap quest, is probably cause they don't have a script written out for it yet (everything must have a story) and it must involve Maat in some way cause they don't wanna deprive those who don't have the expansion, or because they want people to explore the new expansion areas before concentrating all resources on levels.

I think you guys lost track of what this post is saying!!!

It is not about just increasing the cap. We are talking about giving QUESTS for abilities and spells. It makes things alot more interesting to actualy have to accomplish something to gain a reward than to just do something repetitive and keep on looking how much have "tnl" (to next lvl).

I will not even try to go far with this. I will simply take my own job, MONK.

He has Counter, Dodge, Focus, Chi Blast, Chakra, HP Bonus....

Now don't you think it would be alot better if a quest was involved for each of these? I mean look at them. Counter and Dodge would be going to a certain Dojo and increasing reflexes, Focus, Chi Blast, and Chakra would be an other Dojo to enhance you Chi and get the most out of it. HP bonus would be from getting indurance. etc etc

I mean you can actualy build a STORY based on these abilities and gaining them. Would make life ALOT more interesting, and would definatly mean something when you say "I walked the path of being Monk/Dragoon/Dark Knight/etc"

These "jobs" have stories within themselves!!! SE is not taking advantage of these latent stories behind each job and mastering it.

Enough with the mindless repetitive leveling!! On with the story-telling and the ROLE-PLAYING-GAME!!!!

Yes, there will be a new cap in sometimes, they can't make us stay at 75 forever, it won't take long for power gamers to lvl everything to 75. But, I think they will at least put new abilities in to make the jobs more unique before touching the new cap.

I'm sorry if I sound rude saying this, but refreshga or refresh II would not get red mages invites anymore. Refreshga might, but really.. Think about this situation

You have a whm/rdm, blm/rdm, and the rest of your party is a tank, 1 misc melee and a bard. Now, all of them are level 82+ as well. A red mage, even with refreshga or refresh II would be a waste of space.
The white mage has refresh, haste, all that gaz. The black mage has refresh as well, and has access to dispel. Any class would be more useful at this point, since both the black mage and white mage have what the red mage would normally have. Having 2 or 3 more MP growth per tick, or being able to cast it on the entire party would be a waste of space.

in this party set up it'd be a lot more efficent to have another damage dealer, since MP recovery doesnt need to be increased, but damage will be speed up the kills. 2 or 3 more MP a tick wont decrease down time enough to replace damage.

Red mages might be able to get to level 82, but if the cap was raised beyond 82 the red mage wont get past it unless he or she finds a party that doesnt have a mage with a red mage sub (which at this point, would be deemed un-acceptable).

I think the only viable solution is to make certain spells andabilities SP like certain weapon skills. This my screw over some job/sub combos that exist right now, but i dont want to see even more jobs become a waste of space or last choice.

Obviously red mage would be most hurt by a cap raise, but convert and refresh are the only reason red mages REALLY get invites (before that it's for dispel, which earlier was stated as irrelevent if the black mage and white mage already had it). Before dispel, it's if you want extra healing which isnt as needed if you have a black mage (especially later). Enfeebling can be done by the white mage and black mage as well. It may not be as easy to stick them, but it doesnt make red mage useful in a party if refresh is usable by other mages.

SE could make the 'job defining' job traits, abilities, and magic(obtained after 37) EX, so that they could only be used if their corresponding job was the players main job. Or sub-jobs could have their own cap: 99/40.
I think a sub-job cap should be implemented eventualy, because while sub-jobs are a cool idea and they can add alot of versitility to a job in certain situations, we all (should) know what the business men at the top of the MMORPG business care about: Money, not video games. Sub-jobs are a great way to keep people playing longer and spending more money, because its a fact that more poeple will play at the lower levels.(Look at all the new MMORPG's coming out, most have a similar set up to sub-jobs: you level up to a certain point then start over to obtain somthing more powerfull.) When players start to level up and things get more serious alot of people leave. Sub-jobs keep you at a low level but you're still working towards the high level goal with out the stress of being in the more serious high level enviroment.
What I'm getting at is that leveling a sub-job when it gets into the 40's or 50's would be a real pain in the ass and I think at this point it would be bad business for SE to keep the sub-job the way it is. The high level players are a different demographic than the low level players and they aren't going to be kept playing longer by being forced to switch to a lower level in order to advance in the game. So cap the SJ or create a second, high level SJ quest so that SJ's can gain Exp with out switching them to a main job.
Getting back on topic: I agree that alot more adventure needs to be added, and less leveling. One thing that could consume alot of my time/money but that I would enjoy more than leveling up would be different kinds of armor and weapon quests. Players would be able to upgrade equipment, like the Relic weapons, this way players would have to go about obtaining them in a linear fashion similar to leveling up. There still needs to be leveling up, I don't think an MMORPG would work with out it. But, SE would keep more players if they removed the focus of the game from gaining levels once players reach the higher levels. While some poeple will still play for the sole purpose of gaining a bigger number, they are not the majority that they were while they were part of the lower level community.
Unfortently, raising the level cap will always be the cheaper and easier way of keeping people playing longer, even if more players would be playing and would be happier with more missions, quests, story and adventure.

                      RDM would need abilities like:

                      Regenga I + II
                      Refresh II + III
                      Refreshga I + II

                        Paragraphs are your friends. Anyhow,

The Cap seems fine as to what its at right now. Once the cap is pushed to 40 more spells / JAs etc that classes have are no longer class specfic.

                        For Example

                        RDM / Covert

                        WHM /Teleport -Yhoater, Teleport-Altepa, Stonea
(notice now anyone /whm can now use all status cures)

                        BLM / ?

                        etc.

                        CoP/Zilart/San/Win Finished, Bastok 1-1

The problem isn't the 80's, right? you don't need to lvl, and you can always party with your friends for hunt, true friends won't say 'your job sucks, go to hell'. The problem is the balance they killed 75->80? ie Utsusemi San needs to be put in before that.

if they're going to raise the cap they'd better put a ton of mobs to be able to level up on instead of the crap you see at endgame now.

If rdm did get any aoe spells I think they would end up with enfiraga or enthundaga. Would change the rdms job from a refresh tank to a support damage dealing job. Provided the ga versions of en spells had more potency.

I would much rather have SE add adventure elements, special quests, missions, etc rather than lvling, because in my opinion, the only reason i play RPGs is because of all the above, not leveling.
