Galkas: What's the point?

First of all, Scatman, I appreciate you being civil in your response...Altania knows we've got enough jerks out there who feel the need to flame the other person in order to get their point across.

And let me apologize in advance if what I have to say next sounds harsh...but it's how I feel:

Getting to the crux of the matter, I don't feel that you made very good arguments. I could easily pick apart everything you said (ESPECIALLY your first and last sentences)...but you know what? I'm not going to. I've found that it's really not worth my time to engage in such debates when all I want to do is play a damn game and have fun. I mean, why even bore everyone with an essay of a rebuttal that most people probably won't read anyway?

By the way, it was never my intent to change anyone's mind. If people wish to think inside the box, then that's what they'll do -- one thing I've learned from life is that people tend to be deadset in their views; it's human nature.

Anyway, this will be my final post on the matter. Have fun playing the game your way and I'll have fun playing the game my way

I've seen a Galka whm/war

A very interesting combo indeed. The Galka HP and VIt made it possible for the galka mage to actually take aggro whenever it cured too much. And he/she had awesome HQ items, but racial gear, so mp wasn't that bad. Kept us alive the whole time, and xp was pretty good. I'm speaking from a lvl 25-30 however, where i suppose certain subjobs don't really matter.
But at the time, i was thinking: it'd be funny if the galka whm/war provoked, when our tank was taking too much dmg, had blink so he could Cure II the tank, while the mob missed, than takes a hit, at which point, with so much HP it didn't matter, and then the tanks voked it back.

Galkas are becoming very rare race however, which kinda sucks to hear, cuz i believe every class and race should be balanced at some point. Not many ppl are going to play Galka if war is the only high end job that they're good at, high lvl war's aren't always that welcome.

I really feel sorry for that guy where ppl would disband cuz he was Galka, or just not invite. If anything, S-E should just make the RSE of Galka a bit more MP-sensitive. that way they could compete with pld's who have mp pool up their wazzhoo.

So... is that "I need to be different and stand out" box more comforting for you? It's a even smaller box and it's getting crowded since NA releaase.

Before you accusing others being closes minded, maybe you should start a taru mage and see the difference for yourself?

BTW, this is coming from someone with multiple characters of various races and jobs. Guess I just needed to see for myself how these job/race combos handle.

I'm a taru sam, and after 60+ levels of it I can still dish out just as much if not more damage than elvaan at my level. Galka mage is not optimal, but definitely doable.

Evangelion Unit 01 could kick ALL your races' asses. Even without the entry plug being inserted. It would go berserk and take out the Prog. knife, and kill 'em all. Now, if you can come up with a better argument with proof to back it up, I'll come up with more proof to back it up. Evangelion fans can back me up on this one. Oh, and so I don't get banned, my favorite races are the Elvaans, and the Humes. Elvaans cause of their pointy ears, and cause they look like Link, and Humes, because I dunno. I just like Humes

Galkas make the worst paladins of all races.. dont let people fool you who have never party with paladins or dont know what they are talking about.

ive seen em all... every type of paladin there is.. paladin/warriors and paladin/whitemages every race of paladin and galkan's are the worst.

the key to a paladin is his mana anyone who says otherwise doesn't know what he is talking about.

cures/flash will be the determining factor on the paladin keeping all the hate on him added in with provoke.

the humes and taru's ive party with could keep hate like no other because of their good mana pools... i have less experience with mithra paladins... but the elvaan and galka paladins could keep hate much less then the other races.

paladin is all about a balance of might and magic... being a galka is like being a warrior/whitemage not a true paladin.

and you can try and tell stories of how eating some food and a redmages refresh makes this all obselete... bull... the only way a galka can hang with the other races is if he has uber equipment,

galkas are really good at alot of jobs but jobs depending heavily on magic they are lacking big time unless you equip some really expensive good equipment.

go ahead and try and argue but once you see first hand and experience all the paladins by race you will see that what makes the paladin is his mana pool.

hume has the perfect balance of mana and might which makes him the supreme choice for paladin.

also people always say even taru but taru are also very good paladins... sure the healer in the group may need to dish out a bit more cures then with a hume but that monster is not leaving the taru paladin for nothing.. you could bomb cure III's whatever and he is not leaving the taru pally.

hate control = number 1 importance

galkan can execute this least of all races.

of course as i said a good player can crush the race barrier and make any race good at a class... but just a regular player picking up a job its a different story.

A galkan pld is perfectly fine with a brd and rdm behind him.

A taru pld tends to spend more party mp and increases party downtime.

And like you said, equipment and skill is the main factor that determines whether the pld will keep hate or let the mob roam around.
