Chocobo knight....VERY DOABLE:)

    I dont think I can see this happening, making a chocobo Knight and all..

    But what I can see happening is implementing the different Chocobos and possibly giving them a different attack (used only once) but highly unlikely.

    Black chocobo feathers are ingame and the description says they were thought long to be extinct... I can imagine seeing them later on and possibly a chocobo island. This possibly will have the only chocobo quest other then the 1st one, which would be to upgrade your yellow one to a black one.

    Still saying that I wouldnt know what the black one would do, I doubt they can incorperate flying chocobos into the game. But hey who knows :sweat:

      I doubt they can incorperate flying chocobos into the game.
      Not in the current zones, no....

      ....but new ones?

        Writing some sort of script for making a chocobo fly would be a hard task I would imagine, and as I recall something was said about them being stretched for space as it is - This was when we argued about the colour system and asked if dying armor could be introduced.

        Graphically wise we would be able to move through the air in all directions and at a highsh hieght yes? Well wouldnt that put strain on everyone and make us load regions longer?

        I would love to see it implemented but dont see how currently

          really though i find the idea of SE rewriting the entire game scripts just to add one class ludacris when SE needs to get off their ***** and make the translation system in the game better but the idea of chocobo knight is a good one though i will give all of you that and this is a nice debate on the subject

            Flying chocobos is retarded. Don't ever bring that up again, because it's NOT going to happen. Chocobos are flightless birds like chickens, and penguins.

            If any of you would look at this logically, you'd understand that there needs to be a balance between the classes. No class is cooler then another or more or less useful because they all have their purposes.

            Making a class that could fly or run faster or suddenly have some strange advantage over all the other classes is stupid and you're stupid if you'd want to.

            No player can run faster then any other player with the exception of a skill or a piece of equipment. Therefore having a Chocobo Knight who can run as fast as a chocobo in any zone isn't ever going to happen unless there was some purpose or battle effect of their speed.

            In any other situation a Chocobo Knight would be required to be quick even with armor on, but with the limitation on the game's engine this wont be the case.

            The chocobo would have health like the wyvern or tamed pet. Since chocobos are large enough to be armored this would be one reason why Chocobo Knights wouldn't run as fast as normal chocobos. Then you might think that you'd be screwed if you were just traveling with your chocobo. Well, this would be solved by having an option at the stables to ride your chocobo with or without armor.

            That would be the only way of using a fast chocobo in a dungeon area, but who would really go in unarmored? For the sake of gameplay, Chocobo Knights will be prone to attacks on their chocobos, it would not be used as some kind of monster resistant way of traveling through dangerous areas. That alone could overpower the class and wouldn't be acceptable. Prism powder, and deoderant would work on both you and your chocobo at the same time.

            While on a chocobo, you have the options to attack, use a skill, dig(with the proper item) and dismount. The only weapons effective while riding on the chocobo would be a polearm or ranged attack. While off the chocobo, it isn't really important what weapons they can use, who wouldn't ride the chocobo? I suggest that Chocobo Knights also get the Jump series when not riding the chocobo, but it isn't pertinent. Also having some sort of 'Chocobo Strike' while not on the chocobo might also give the users another way to play the Chocobo Knight.

            While on a chocobo you will not be able to open chests or coffers, you're way too high up to reach down, and chocobos being restless creatures, it would run at it's first chance. If you dismount while it's wearing its armor, you'll have to reimburse the stables, if it's returned with the armor, no fee will be applied. Chocobo Knights will be able to check ??? areas and anything else like riding elevators or lifts.

            It would probably be beneficial to the Chocobo Knights if they were able to feed the chocobo to regain health. Beastmasters can do it, so Chocobo Knights and Dragoons should be able too. I don't see any reason why the part of the class that makes it so unique could be lost so easily. On a side note, if beastmasters can just tame another pet, why do they need food? Lousy Beastmasters.

            Chocobos would have skills of their own with certain status effects that could be used sparsely. The moves would most likely stem from FFT or earlier FF series games. Alternatively, the chocobo could use the skills itself at random or during weapon skills. Their two hour ability would increase the attack of the Chocobo Knight for thirty seconds or so. If it were chocobo oriented it would be completely useless if they weren't on a chocobo.

            Now, the major concern for the Chocobo Knight is the player model. You're on a chocobo and you'd have to have a different way of using polearm weapon skills. A new weapon used only by the Chocobo Knights might have to be implimented because of the rider's position.

            Finally, the last concern is framerate and lag issues. Wyverns and other tamed pets already cause extra lag due to the server having to keep track of another entity. A Chocobo Knight might be seen as a single entity, but it would still cause lag as your computer pulls the graphics file off your computer to display it, along with whoever else is in the immediate area.

            The Chocobo Knight would not be a neccessity in a party, and would only compete as another damage dealer, so it isn't important that it be included in the game. It would just be an extra kick.

              • Chocobo Knight is very doable, but it chances of it coming about are small.
              • Though doable Chocobo Knight has some skills and abilites which are just plain unfair to other classes (Insta Chocobo!11!)


              This class is very interesting to me...though most of these ideas are crap, some are well thought out and genious

                      I'll add my 2gil....

                      Since the devs have clearly stated that there will be no new jobs added in the Chains of Promathia expansion...

                      Why not just add in different flavors of rentable chocobos with different effects?

                      Of course, they should be tiered as much more expensive than the standard yellow chocobo.

                      Gold Chocobo - bonuses to Chocobo digging (better chance of finding rare or valuable items). They seem to be able to find things a lot better than the standard typical chobi... perhaps it is due to luck and the high quality Chocosayhl Greens (HQ version of the normal greens they relish!)

                      Depending upon the stable's location and status in Conquest may affect the rental price (for example, if Bastok has dominance in Kuzotz, the Gold Chobi will rent at Rabao for the normal chocobo rental cost... but Gold Chocobos for San D'Orians (ranked as a minor power) will be doubled in cost, and Windurstan (ranked as a retreating power) will be tripled in thier rental cost.

                      In the case of a Conquest Alliance, the dominant power pays normal rental fees, while the allianced powers only pay double.

                      In the case where a territory with a Stable is under Beastmen control, sadly... everyone pays triple the price. But, since Beastmen are fond of dropping or burying things (especially those Goblin Diggers)... Beastmen held areas may have much more valuable treasure hidden in the ground.

                      Black Chocobo - bonus to travel speed (move at 4x player run speed instead of the normal 2x player speed). Due to the special care that Brutus provides these chocobos, they are only available from the stables in Jeuno... and they are double the cost of the normal chocobo rental fee.

                      Red Chocobo - (Very Expensive!) imparts a 10% bonus to key stats and +10 to weapon skills or magic skills depending upon your main job ...

                      For example, a PLD or DRK would get a 10% bonus to his STR/VIT/DEX/AGI along with his equipped weapon skill such as +10 to an equipped G.Swd. whereas a WHM or BLM would get MND/INT/CHR and bonus to specific job casting skill sets, such as Divine/Healing/Enhancement/Enfeebling magic for WHM main) for up to one hour after dismounting. This could be useful for folks going to Sky or whatever super high level access area may implemented for CoP.

                      Due to the fact that these special chocobos have enchantments that they impart to thier riders, they have a more expensive upkeep cost due to thier higher metabolism. Expect to pay double the cost of a normal chocobo.

                      Grey Chocobo - (Very, Very Expensive!) imparts the ability to move through dungeon areas swiftly and without aggro from normal monsters. HNM (or specifically, monsters that have True Sight might still be able to aggro and knock you down from your chobi, who will then run off scared! ) Because these particular chocobos are exceptionally rare and well trained, only a limited number of these may be rented from the Chocobo Stables. Even when they are available, expect to pay nearly 5x the normal rental fee (which of course, varies with availability)

                      And just for the fun of it...

                      The Fat White Chocobo! Rent this chocobo as additional storage space for 3 earth days. Rental cost will be 20x the normal rental fee to double your mog storage (so do your mog eexpansions for maximum benefit!) for a period of 3 days. This fat bird will only be available in the Lower Jeuno Stable, behind a currently inaccessible set of doors. He will eat your goods (and not digest them, being the careful bird that he is) while you adventure.

                      Be careful to remove your goods or renew the rental before the rental period is up though, because if his rental period expires, he will forget about your goods in his storage, and digest them!

                      Chocobo items (purchasable or quested)

                      Chocobo Whistle - summons a standard chocobo from the nearest Stable; upon sounding the whistle, you receive the message of "It smells like chocobos nearby..." right before you mount the spawned chocobo. The chocobo will take 30sec. to spawn.

                      You will be charged 1.5x the current rental fee for the next chocobo you rent as a recovery cost. The whistle can is can only be used once between normal rentals. If you try to use it again (without having paid for the summoned chocobo at a Stable) you will receive the message of "You sound the whistle, but you smell nothing different..."

                        Is the starter of this topic the same guy that 'made' the blue mage and stuff? lol. Not too long after he had people beliving it was real and in the Dunes on Asura there was like a /shout every 2 minutes of someone yelling "DID YOU HEAR THEY'RE MAKING BLUE MAGES OMG LIKE WOW!" I was chewing out some noob for being so gullible and he said his LS leader was the one that told his whole linkshell about it and they all thought it was real. This guy should join the character development team or something :p

                            Chocobo Marzuka is the most godly Bard Song in the game, allowing you to unleash massive amounts of destructive power and laying waste to everything in your path, the enemies cowering when you pluck the first notes of the song...

                            ...erm, well. Not quite.

                            But what Chocobo Marzuka really does is it enables everyone buffed with the song to run at the speed of a chocobo. Essentially, its a way of casting Mass Flee on the entire party, and allowing them to really get moving at very short notice. Its a fun song, from what I understand - not very useful, but very fun to use. After all, who expects to see a Bard hoofing it at 100 mph across a zone?

                            And if we have Chocobo Knights, we need Choco Meteor!

                              Read through most of the posts, and skimmed through some. The idea of the chocobo being weighted and slower is a good call to not make chocobo knights insanely god-like pullers. As I said, I skimmed throught some of the posts, but I'm sure this was mentioned. Make the battle chocobo (armored one) be the 2 hour ability. So it would be like a dragoon's wyvern. You can dismiss it at full health as well, so that you can rent the typical chocobo for faster travel. That way, /cho subs won't be too overpowered as well.

                              You could also do something favorable, like have chocobo knights get a slight discount from chocobo stables. =3
