Unless you're a complete idiot, I don't see how leaving it on will affect anything in the big picture. It's not as is turning around is a hard thing to do.

Nine times out of ten in Dynamis sleepers are awakened by the following:

It's not Dynamis, though; in an exp alliance, the "kill order" is whatever the MA can get his weapons on.

If the MA is leaves /autotarget on, it would be less time taking out weapon, a little efficiency boost which adds up over time. A good MA will keep an eye on where the puller/sleeper has placed the sleeping mobs, and face that direction before the current target dies, so he'll always have a target if the puller(s) are keeping up. This way, people hitting their /assist macro will never come up blank.

When battles last less than 30 seconds, shaving 2~3 seconds off between each mob is a pretty big efficiency gain.

Although I don't feel that this applies to me... it definately applies to a lot of other SMN. On more than one occasion, I've picked up another SMN to duo an NM or 2 and had the following senario happen:

I assault with my avatar.
They assault with their avatar.
I run away to a safe distance to resummon.
They run away to a safe distance to resummon.
I BP.
They BP.
I usea single target BP.
They use an AoE BP.
I get no hate from surrounding mobs.
They get tons of hate from the things they just dinged.
I stay calm.
They go "OMGWTF/PETRETURN" instead of release and wind up getting the shit kicked out of them.
I sigh.
They "loldiduseethat? WTF!!! I DIDNT DO ANYTHING!!! /quit"
I die while attempting to solo.
