Re: Introducing the BG-Wiki
I've been keeping an eye on this thread for the past couple of days and besides the unnecessary bickering, there's nothing useful being discussed here. Just a bunch of people venting about random things.

Re: Introducing the BG-Wiki
Balfree, as the OP, I'd like this thread locked. It didn't serve it's purpose and I don't think it ever will.
Concerning me "bashing" the History of Vana'diel, I'm more peeved by the fact it's shoved into new players faces(like being a sticky) when they ask "Hey, where can I learn the history of Vana'diel?". It's not the history, it's the plot ;/. It's not named correctly, and if you give it to a new player who doesn't specifically ask "I want to see some spoilers" you are doing them a disservice. It's a good resource for people who lost track of the storyline.
I think the problem is that it's the only site of it's kind. Well, to be correct, there is no Vana'diel History fansite. It's the only site that looks like a History site. When I voice my complaints, a moderator told me that I should make a site then. Well, now I intend to return on that statement and make THE Vana'diel History site(well, only a portion of a site). I can only hope people will instead show that to new players.
There's a big difference from refusing to use the site and what I think of the "Spoilers of Vana'diel". I still find uses for it, but people are using it incorrectly by spoiling the game's great story in place of finding history. It's a good site, I'm not bashing it, well, maybe the name.
I also would like to bring up the ultimate new player guide I never got around to writing(being banned turned me off). I will be continuing it once my current project gets mostly complete. I will post this guide both on this site and the wiki.

Re: Introducing the BG-Wiki
eh; the first post *is* pretty neutral, continuing with three more after where you continue to iterate 'copyright violation' 'you can't police everything' etc. makes it look more like you're just hoping for popcorn drama - although you're right - you're not actually stating that you think it'll be rife with copyright violation, just taking a definitely pessimistic viewpoint of public works in general.Originally posted by Feba View PostAmele: then please learn to read.

Re: Introducing the BG-Wiki
Hi.
Is there enough bitching in this thread worthy of moderation?
I ask because i'm not reading this many pages to figure that out and i dont see any bannable offenses on the latest entries, but still some people seem to be ticked by the existance of this thread.
I'd just like to (not have to) say this: please dont turn our dear FFXIO into one of those other less than pleasant communities out there...
Please? Can we have a happy family environment just on this website here, for once? just here..? for puppies and kittie cats and bunnies and sugary treats and laughing childrens? K~?
TY!

Re: Introducing the BG-Wiki
It was good to make the annoucement they did on the front page. If it's genuine that they're attempting to shead themselves of the 'elitist' approach they have to other players in the game, then I'm more than willing to give them the shot that their due.
As far as the Wiki, the PLAYER BASE, which is the true goal for every wiki, only stands to benefit. The competition means that FFXIcyclo, Alla, and even BG itself will all be pressed to provide the best demonstration, information, and service possible.
That sort of situation can only bring smiles to players' faces.
Side with witch ever 'group' you want. I personally don't hide my avoiding the BG community and have a personal distrust of Taj especially, but that doesn't mean I will turn down a good thing when I see it, nor give BG the chance it's asking for.
Congratulations to all the new Wiki Moderators on both BG and Alla, and good luck.

Have to wonder how long it will take BG to catch up to FFXIclopedia... and how much of the content will be copied.

Well you have to admit, our codes were a little vague.
I mean really Murphie, this is just like the noodle incident, and once again it's ALL YOUR FAULT.
