Re: Goblin Bounty Hunters? WtH M8

If I'm PT leader, instead of leveling Quifim at lvl 19-22, I will camp @ Sauromugue Champaign killing Diving Beetles to avoid GBH hysteria. However, it can hold one camp according to Campsitarus website. They don't aggro but link. You have to be away from the weapons mobs to be safe. Then after that, move to Delkfutt's Lower Tower 23-26.

Re: Goblin Bounty Hunters? WtH M8

I'm sorry, I have to do this:

I was leveling my THF in Quifim last night, level 17 taking out worms in the nice little worm camp on the way to D's Tower. Effin gob wiped out our party in no time. HPed, came back, and another party was getting slaughtered. We stay close to the wall now, I have my back to the water so I can sneak attack, then go back to the wall side. Then the gob sprints right past the mob, past two party members, and kills me in two hits. Then he goes back to his water hole and leaves the rest of the party alone :S

I suggest we go back to the cave and do worms and pull the occasional clipper/dark bat. EXP was coming by much slower.
Point of story: It's hard to even move around comfortably w/out getting aggro from these guys, and if they kill a level 17 thf in 2 hits, they'll kill a level 20 in 4, which still isn't right (level 19 is ideal for Qufim, btw - not 20).

Exp became slow because they had to move to less ideal locations.

      So then there's this:

Re: Goblin Bounty Hunters? WtH M8

I think these GBH's suck. Wiped us twice last friday night in the Dunes, and while I am new to the whole WHM thing, I sincerely doubt that the fault can be placed entirely on a "sucky" party. I was main heal, eating melon pies +1, backup heal was a BRD with an astral ring, so she was rolling with like 75 MP to my 180 or so. Even with us spamming Cure and Cure II and nothing else there was little we could do to prevent deaths. When the Gobs popped in between pulls it was no big deal, but when it pops on top of you while you're just getting into an IT pug it's pretty much over. We weren't even that close to the water...

There HAD to have been a better solution to fish botting than this. It's hard enough in the Dunes at these lower levels, now with those nasty GBH's running around it's almost impossible. It's only gonna encourage people to not party there anymore (and getting parties there was getting hard enough already, we were WHM, BRD, and WAR and couldn't even find any freaking DD's lfg last friday @ 7pm), and at the very least, make PL's even more standard fare in the Dunes than the already are, meaning there's gonna be even more idiots out there (and by extension, in Quifim and Kazham) that have no concept of how to play without one.

I just dont know anymore...seems like a really great way to drive away even more new players.
I'm a slow motion accident, lost in coffee rings and fingerprints...

GBH are great, they weed out the bad players alittle, just like alot of the changes made to the game in recent years. I am sorry but like I said in an earlier post, I have not had one problem with these things.

If you thought the dunes were so bad before, why keep going back there? There are other zones in the game.

Still a turn-off to new players. And I don't know if you've noticed, but S-E has pretty much devoted the last year of updates to making the game easier/less frustrating. I haven't even seen these GBHs in-game yet. My take on it is that they're a very good idea, but they perhaps made them a bit hard for their level and perhaps didn't limit their patrol pattern good enough. They should only be looking at the spots where you can cast a line from.

There's no reason to be in Qufim at 17. None. He mentioned he was getting slow exp. Murph pointed out that it was because he was two low to party there. Regardless, picking that post out and ignoring the rest of the conversation seems a bit irresponsible.

It's not a turn-off to new players. Its a turn-off to old players re-levelling in the dunes or qufim. A new player isn't going to know any difference between how it was before and how it is now.

I wouldn't be surprised if SE scales back the aggro radius a bit eventually, but so far the player reaction to the GBHs has been mostly positive. As I said before, and others have pointed out. There are so many other areas to level in this game. If they're that much of an issue then find another zone.

hmm ive pulled decent exp at qufim at 17 no problem, the point was that it was only him that was lvl 17. He wanted to level with his friends, having fun is this game is > slightly better exp any day. He was talking about how the bounty hunters lessened the amount of possible kills they could make, this thread wasnt about omg im 17 and in qufim and i cant kill as quick as the 20's why?

Exactly. You proved my point. You took the entire conversation as a whole and presented your opinion of it.

Lmnop looked at the first part of it and made his judgement based solely on that. He then proceeded to make a personal attack based on that judgement.

I understand the guy was xp'ing with friends and he was the lowest member of the party. That was not presented until later. Murphie gave his opinion based on the information at hand. I'm willing to bet if most other people here had shared the same opinion, it would have been ignored.

There's too much bs drama and trolling going on around here without people going around trying to dig up more.

It's human nature. Our natural response is to react to negativity instead of just moving on. Lmnop didn't do anything overt there other then respond to what he felt needed a response. My last post did sound rather critical, but its something we all do.

See, that's what I don't understand...I mean, I don't consider myself a bad player, although a little noobish to the main heal thing (I'm normally either DD or tank), but what could I have possibly done?

We had a PAL as main tank, and a WAR as backup, but when the GBH started drilling the PAL (while the pug is screwdrivering him in the face) he obviously had a bit of a hard time curing himself, so I'm spamming him with cure and cure II's so he doesn't die, than of course I get hate from the GBH, so WAR vokes it, so now I've got 2 peeps in the red I'm trying to keep alive, next thing you know I'm out of MP, so BRD starts spamming cure while I try to heal for a tick...before you know it BRD is out of MP as well (with astral ring) and PAL dies, so I Benedict (this was a matter of maybe 2 seconds) and am promptly killed (I know benedict pretty much means I'm dead, but I figured better me dead than everyone) but even though the pug was already dead by that point it didn't matter, as the GBH then went through and owned everyone, because by that point everyone was tanking, and dropping like flies.

I'm not arguing with you (there's been enough flaming going on on these forums already), I'm genuinely curious what I could have done to keep us from wiping. I've got to go back out there for a level and a half at some point in the near future and I don't want a repeat performance.

Anyways, getting back to my original point, while the great GBH may indeed help with fish botting in the Dunes (which, tbh, I have yet to see anyone, bot or otherwise, fish down there in my multiple trips to secret beach), I still think it's a case of curing the disease by killing the patient. Crappy players that have been PL'd are enough of a problem as it is, and now they just made it almost a necessity. True, some don't have problems with the GBH's, but it's not like it was just my party that wiped...EVERY party down there was wiping at some point because of them. As much as I hate newbs being PL'd, at least there was someone close by to Raise us all, and in that I am grateful.

Yeah, I know...and as much as I can't stand the dunes, unfortunately if you want to get a party together at that level and get any reasonable amount of XP, that's where pretty much everyone is going to be. I can ask the party leader if we can go somewhere else, but if he/she says no, I'd rather deal with it and get something for the night than try and convince 5 other people to give another spot a try. Whether it's force of habit or just laziness, the end result is the same. I don't know if you've tried to build a party down there lately, but there is like Nada III out there 99% of the time. We had a 3 person static and we spent an hour and a half trying to get someone, ANYONE, in our level range that could DD. And it's not like this was a Wednesday at 4 in the morning...this is a Friday night at 7 pm.

moved the camp somewhere else? they pop near the water so move the camp away from the water and pull a bit farther.

People often forget that there is the Buburimu area that is ripe for camping, and is about the same. Unfortunately, it's kind of a trial getting there. It'd be nice if S-E shortened the ferry trip between there and Selbina, or came up with some other quicker means of transportation.
