Re: Goblin Bounty Hunters? WtH M8

I do agree that fishing aggro sounds like a better idea. It'd require a little bit of extra code, but things already change aggro behavior depending on whether you're resting or not, so keying off a fishing state shouldn't be too hard.

How do these guys work currently? If you're standing near a popular fishing spot, one pops and attacks you?

I was powerleveling my friend and she was fighting a worm near the lake. A goblin popped right on top of us and we couldn't even pull back.... It aggroes the moment it pops. Moreover, they move at flee speed around the lake, so you can't even tell if they aggro you or not.

Damn o. O efficient little mofos. /hurray GBH.

I agree with the fishing aggro idea though. At the same time that would be extremely unfair to the few HONEST fishermen out there. We can't have it both ways sadly, so it's one or the other...

Well, whether you're honestly or dishonestly fishing, or whether you're camping, or whether you're there for a stroll, the Bounty Hunters are gonna aggro anyways. Better that they aggro to just fishing than to everyone else that doesn't even have to do with their intended purpose.

But I have to say... Bounty Hunter... quite a clever idea to deal with fishbotting. It's like a mob given GM status.

Even though the idea needs fine-tuning, whoever thought of it deserves a promotion. It's damned creative.

If they aggro'd only to fishing couldn't the fishing script just be modified for longer wait times between casts, with the GBH moving so quickly it would miss a large number of them that way wouldn't it?

Perhaps they can make it aggro to having a fishing pole equipped, rather than on the act of fishing.

Aggroing the action of fishing would prolly be the best bet. Even if RMT do script longer waits into their bots, they'll still be there fishing for a long time and the Gob hunter is bound to get them eventually.

No changes need to be made, the Goblin Bounty Hunters are fine the way they are.

I was leveling my THF in Quifim last night, level 17 taking out worms in the nice little worm camp on the way to D's Tower. Effin gob wiped out our party in no time. HPed, came back, and another party was getting slaughtered. We stay close to the wall now, I have my back to the water so I can sneak attack, then go back to the wall side. Then the gob sprints right past the mob, past two party members, and kills me in two hits. Then he goes back to his water hole and leaves the rest of the party alone :S

I suggest we go back to the cave and do worms and pull the occasional clipper/dark bat. EXP was coming by much slower.

                    Thanks for the sig, Selphiie!!

                          Of course, smart ass.

I had the choice of searching for a lame ass party in the dunes, or playing with my static in their 19s in Quifim.

I was getting 250 xp per worm in our original camp, which isn't bad at all. I was referring to the exp slowing down because we moved back to the cave where there are less worms, and pulling the occasional Clipper, which took forever to kill.

                          Thanks for the sig, Selphiie!!
