    Re: Random FFXI ideas.

If they can do it with city of heroes, why can't they do it with ffxi? Besides, even when you are in jeuno or whitegate, you dont even see all the people there. The game restricts how many player characters appears on your screen at a time.

It still creates lag. Also, FFXI runs on a different engine then City of Heroes does, and it already lags more than City of Heroes, cause of other reasons.

just because the engine is different doesn't mean you can't implement capes. Ok, maybe fluidity would kick up the lag, but at least put a set movement animation into the cape. Besides, ffxi was made four years ago, I think it's due for at least minor graphical updates such as capes.

It could probably stand a graphical update of some kind, but until it can play (relatively) the same across all platforms that's not going to happen.

Why not just add SOLDIER and the Turks too? I'd find it an irritating break in setting continuity if they added these and probably quit.

The rest of your suggestions were great though.

I'd like something like was mentioned previously: large scale PvP. I like feeling a part of something big, like I'm accomplishing something.

What better way to actualize that than conquest? Of course, it's probably not going to get implemented because of the semi-cooperative attitude the nations have towards each other which seems sort of central to the game. It'd be cool to have, but it won't get implemented and I completely understand why.

              Re: Random FFXI ideas.

1.) Able to customize the look of your character (hair, tatoos, make-up, outfit when u take off all your armour ect.)
              2.) A Dance Emote
3.)Flying Chocobos but you'd have to train em ALOT
4.)Aspects from other Final fantasy Games. E.g - some of the previous characters visit
5.)You can choose a voice for your character. When they level up for instance, they would say something.
6.)Mebbe new races => Male Mithra, Female Galka(ewww lol), Undead ect.

Just some ideas I would enjoy. What do you guys think?

              Which FF Character Are You?

                Re: Random FFXI ideas.

If I ran into characters from previous FF games, I'd be annoyed at the lack of consistency and logic there. Having people like Cid is good enough for me.

Besides, the story of FFXI is good enough that I don't feel like it needs an injection of nostalgia from old characters.

                  Re: Random FFXI ideas.

                  1) Entirely! That would be excellent.
2 ) Heh, I'd use the emote in celebration of its own implimentation.
                  3) That would certainly be interesting. I didn't even think Chocobos could fly (being built like non-flying birds)
                  4) That would be interesting but would break setting continuity. I don't think that would be wise.
                  5) It would take a lot of work but that would be cool. Of course, you can always make your own voice! (Nothing keeps you from talking to yourself in-character while playing )
                  6) Nah, nah and no way. Undead are creatures with an unnatural hunger for the flesh/souls/spleens of the living or are mindless and controlled by not-very-nice people. They shouldn't really be playable, I think that's sort of a silly idea.

I'll add my vote to this. It would tie in nicely with the linkshell community features they are currently working on too.

My main character can already sing beautifully (says half of Jueno)... that'd be something neat too.

I like that idea. I've always wanted an in game military training group at least for the lower levels till you can get out on your own.

Hey! leave my greatest wish alone.

Serously though, SeeD would fit easily into the storyline without changing the essence of the job or messing with consistency.

In FFVIII SeeDs are trained soldiers, usually hired as mercenaries to settle disputes between countries. Trained at gardens, one of which is run by Cid.

The same way Aht Urgan has the Immortals, Bastok could create an Elite (no leet pun intended) group to protect Bastok or to help keep the peace etc.

Gun-Blades are the perfect example of Bastokan technology, combining a great sword with an explosive device that burns ammo to enhance damage.

SeeD features (or at least what I think it would be like) that I posted in another thread:

-Ability to draw magic from enemies.
(Not learn, but actually drawing magic and saving spells rather than using MP)

-Ability to Junction with an avatar.
(Different Avatars for different styles, Titan: Defense abilities/traits, Ifrit: Attack abilities/traits etc)

                            -Ability to use summons.
(But not like a SMN, summons in FFVIII are just that, you summon the avatar, it does a cool move and then dissapears. Only one ability per Avatar, like a BP it would be a job ability with a recast)

                            -Gunblades
(Great sword skill, they could use ammo to do extra damage, alchemists heaven )

-Ability to change rol in a party depending on which Avatar are they Junctioned with (only to a degree, we don't want parties of 6 SeeDs >.< ) Maybe a high lvl trait to allow Junction with more than one avatar at the same time.

I have many more ideas but this post is long enough, even so that should give an idea of what the job would be like (at least on paper)

                            Double Post Edited:
                            Oh! I almost forgot!

                            Blitzball!

Undersea ruins, ancient civilization (the zilart), ancient ritualized game underwater, where Zilartians showed their perfection by resisting for a long time underwater without having to go to the surface to get air.

Add a ball and Jecth shots as needed.

...what? Is it too much? Ya ok I know, but no one can blame me for trying

Would be cool to have an Epic Airship battle that the mob HP carries over to the next trip until it finally dies, like the BCNM fight with the AC. Everyone can engauge, like Dynamis. Final blow gets the loot. and it would be loot applicable to the job and race of the victor. Would be sweet seeing all these dead bodies appearing at the ports. The mob would switch ships in Jueno so there would be no way to "camp" it.

Now that I think of it... that could actually work.

Congratulations, you just plunged the world into war. No it would not fit into the story line. Each of the 3 major nations do not trust each other. Peace exists between them because Jeuno imposed upon them to demilitarize and leave the task of protecting the cities from the beastmen forces to adventurers.

If Bastok created a new military force, San d'Oria would get antsy and up their own military. Then so would Windurst. Then one of the nations wouldn't like one of the others holding territory near their capital and would send troops instead of just quietly and peacefully following the Conquest system. Then the other nations would start to send troops around the world. At some point there would be a disputed region, and it would be war again.

There is a reason each of the nations does not have a large standing army.
