    Re: Random FFXI ideas.

With all these idea's flying around here, I wonder if a bit advanced programmer would be able to use FFXI Area and other files, and make their own little game. A sort of FFXI minigame.

Wait, wait. You made this off topic post because you saw I was on and wanted to ask some questions? Just private message me next time, goofball.

So long as I'm using a post to respond, I might as well answer. To get Excalibur you need to obtain a Relic Sword in Dynamis - Windurst and them upgrade it four times by trading it, some materials, and some ancient currency to Switchstix in Castle Zvahl Baileys. Details here. These are the items you need if you want to look up the insane price:

      Koh-I-Noor x1
      Orichalcum Chain x1
      Cermet Chunk x1
      Montiont Silverpiece x4
      Bronze Sword x1
      Mythril Sword x1
      Wing Sword x1
      100 Byne Bill x14
      Attestation of Glory x1
      6100 T. Whiteshell
      Holy Fragment x1
      10000 O. Bronzepiece

No, the Divine Might quest isn't repeatable, so it looks like you have to pick an earring.

I want to see a better way to store items or a better way to get items on and off a mule, it could take me 15+ mins just to get stuff all my blm gear from my mule to main, sending 23 items 8 at a time, is hardly efficient.

You need to understand the importance of supply and demand. SE gives you limited slots because they know that it's not enough space to carry you on throughout the entire game. Where they make their extra dollars are from the mules that people obtain.

While it isn't as relative in the beginning, everyone (or almost everyone) will eventually run out of space and be too far into the game to do anything about it.

Of those, I find 03, 04, 05 and 08 actually possible, and perhaps ever being implented so in game. The others won't get changed for a reason, or just don't fit in, or are simply (almost) impossible to do.

Maybe have it where if you don't defeat the enemy within the three minutes, the airship horribly crashes in some new zone with monsters that link and aggro.

Sure, I've got Cid I can go and talk to whenever I start missing some of the old characters but Biggs and Wedge were always the perfect comic relief. Sometimes, it just doesn't feel like an FF game without those two. It would be really nice if they spawned in random zones at random times so you could help them do some oddball quest that has absolutely nothing to do with any of the cities or something. A sort of mini game of sorts with random prizes.
Biggs and Wedge would be an awesome addition, and exactly as you stated.

One thing I'd like to see....

Fix the darned issue with bump mapping so that the game doesn't instantly go from dawn-noon or noon-dusk or something of the sort. Day phases go much smoother when bump mapping is off, but that's not fun because the textures are so bland then.

Wow, you completely read my mind. I was just about to explain the day-night situation here and saw your post on that. However, I didn't notice day-night transitions to be any smoother when bump mapping is off. Maybe I just don't take notice. I leave bump mapping off all the time and I still think the transition from day to night is far too violent. It really isn't too hard to tweak lighting so people's shadows don't jump instantly once the sun hits the horizon. Although this simple fix would greatly enhance the aesthetics of this game, I somehow doubt SE would do this due to the low amount of people actually caring about this.

Unless you were running a monster PC, you'd probably walk into Lower Jeuno and be lag-smitten.

With great power comes complete disregard for any and all responsibility.

Yeah, I get enough lag as it is. I don't need a flowing cape (although I did like mine in City of Heroes).

Although it would be great if (like WoW) we had the ability to turn capes on and off. Same with helms.

The characters in Final Fantasy VIII were members of the seeD, sort of gradified students from their "Garden". Either way, the higher your seeD rank got, the more gil you earned after each amount of time. You could improove your seeD rank by completing the game fast, or simply answering a bunch of questions, the so called "seeD tests". They were in the main menu.
